joe sixpack Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I have tried for over 2 years with no sucess in finding downloadable sata drivers. I tried:1) google search. Nothing. References to F6 and floppy disk i do not use. I need the actual name of the driver and where to download it.2) Contacted Maxtor,WD, seagate. They refuse any support on this issue.3) Motherboad and chipset manufactures also refuse and some tell me to contact #2!4) Labtop manufactures Acer and Gatway completely rejected support and i was forced in returning them due to poor OS performance.5) I even tried downloading other versions of windows such as win2kSP4 and winXP3. Ide OK. SATA-no hard drive found The ultimate goal is to have both win2K and winXP nlite with built in sata support. HOWEVER, my top priorty is to download a working sata driver which supports intel and via chipsets. A download link would be greatly
ccl0 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 umm.. if i were you i would remove #5 before they lock this post and if you have tried searching for two years then i'm surprised you did not run into driverpacks.net
Ponch Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 SATA drivers are for disk controlers, not for the disk itself.+You've searched for two years and you expect us to find something without even telling what motherboard you're using ?
boooggy Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 i think he wants a generic one that works on all controlers.....unfortunately there is no such driver.....
jaclaz Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 i think he wants a generic one that works on all controlers.....unfortunately there is no such driver.....Of course not, but there still is UNIATA :http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/that "cover" at leas a great part of the usual controllers, maybe it works for six pack.@joe sixpackPlease POST some EXACT reference to the HARDWARE you are talking about. jaclaz
joe sixpack Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 I have 2 of these boards.... http://www.idot.com.tw/en/products/mb-pc2500e/Also a gateway m-1631u labtopAlso other boards with intel, via and ali chipsets.
cdob Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 mb-pc2500eThere are IDE and RAID drivers for a PC2500E http://www.idot.com.tw/en/downloads/What's poor OS performance? Why do you search SATA drivers at all? What do you expect? What's current condition? Can you access the hard disk?Which BIOS mode do you use? Do you use IDE emulation, AHCI or RAID?Be aware: the PC2500E use a VT8237, that's a old controller with a limitation:Adjust a SATA II hard disk to SATA I speed. As for Intel mass storage drivers read the sticky message http://www.msfn.org/board/37-t107504.htmlVIA drivers http://www.viaarena.com/A gateway m-1631u use a AMD RS690T Chipset http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668270.phpAMD drivers are at http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspxFinally there dosn't exist Windows 2000 for all SATA controllers.
joe sixpack Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 I have all drivers for every MB including IDE and Raid. Yes, i am aware of the 150M/s limit and have set sata drives accordingly. The issue is that win2000 or winXP do not detect the hard drive! If i use seagate tools for DOS, it will identify the sata hard drive. Also the bios detects the hard drive. This is true for the C7 via motherboard and any other motherboard which i did not list in thread. I also downloaded the recommended unified drivers version Busmaster-39j.rar and Busmaster-v3d.rar. The read me and website only provide instructions for installation AFTER OS is installed. My issue is i can not install OS.
dencorso Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 @joe sixpack:Did you enter BIOS, go to "Advanced" -> "I/O Device Configuration" -> "Onboard ATA Boot ROM" and set it to "Enabled"? If not, do it! It'll just work.
ccl0 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 i'm shocked you guys want to help him, with him admitting to downloading different copies of windows. i thought that was a big no-no here
