Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Unless you downloaded it from MSDN itself you have gotten warez! If he owns a vista license it's not warez no matter where he gets the actual installation media from. This has been argued OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! ANY source but MS or an official distributer is illegal, even if it is only a OS disk! Thats like saying "I still have my keys from that Jaguar I wrecked, maybe I'll just go use his." It's people like you and attitudes like yours that is the reason the vLite and nLite are so close to being shut down...

Can't make comparison about real objects and software too. Downloading a music or movie is way different than stealing someones car or wallet. Using a program before the company made it available for the public is not ok though...
denzilla Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Is the link for SP2 in post #1 confirmed to be legit and malware free?

hclarkjr Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 any ideas ?? I found this . . .Remove the HKLM\Software\vLite key.I tried it and the SP2 installer doesn't complain about missing components any more, I haven't installed yet, I want to make an image first just incase something nasty happens i will try this tonight after work and report back
RaptoUK Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Well I imaged my boot drive . . eventually, and tried SP2 install, no go, got this . . .tried running the "System Update Readiness Tool for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [April 2009]" and then SP2, same problem . . .I'm currently thinking that I am going to abandon my vLite install by installing Vista over the top of what I have already and then installing SP2. I don't see too many other options at the moment . . . having said that, I don't need SP2 as far as I am aware, no problems that need sorting so I will probably wait a while.

MagicAndre1981 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 vLites stops it!Use a Sp2 integrated Image as source and create a new DVD and reinstall your Windows again.

hclarkjr Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 well i did just that, reinstalled windows. i must say SP2 is an improvement so far. i used vlite to remove some things and it worked fine.

Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. You will be banned without notice. Ask piratebays founders how safe it is to just "Funnel" files. Yes it is LEGAL to make YOUR OWN copy at HOME! BUT it is NOT legal to download a copy from any BUT a licensed distributer! All you guys are doin is bein effing lazy by downloading pre-release and pre-slipstreamed software. I have been at this forum for over 5 years and seen hundreds like you come and go! Your ignorance is astounding. RTM means RELEASE TO MANUFACTURER! Not some a** sitting in front of his pc thinking he is hot sh*t because he downloaded and shared the pre-release software. You definatly are sorry...

I don't understand your logic, how is this being lazy ? Perhaps you need to clarify your point and and make it more specific. Please also bear in mind that some of us have legitimate access to Service Packs before they are released to the general public . .
