Andromeda43 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 For defragging (and backing up) ERUNT/NTREGOPT:http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/jaclaz10-4!NTREGOPT is the only registry optimizer that I will trust with my registry.I've used it on literally hundreds of PC's with NO problems what so ever. It's FREE! You can download it here:http://majorgeeks.com/NTREGOPT_d4824.htmlAs for registry cleaning, there are dozens of so called Registry Cleaners out there and most of them are CRAP and using them can destroy your registry. Some are even "Trojans".Even some Retail programs are NOT GOOD but you have to buy them to find that out.Been there and done that! So don't waste your money or put your registry at risk. For many years and two versions, I've only used "Easy Cleaner" to clean up my own PC and the PC's of my many customers, with Never a problem. Did I mention, It's FREE?I'm currently using "Easy Cleaner II" to clean up all computers from '98 to Vista. It can be downloaded here:http://majorgeeks.com/download414.htmlGood Luck and Happy Computing!Andromeda43 B)
neuropass Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 cool guys, thanks for answered my post!! i found this one : Registry Clean Expert... http://www.registry-clean.net/ it seems good... have you ever heard about that software??
paullyboy Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 CCleaner = freeware>>>>>>>>>>>>>> !! Keeps my computer happy. Just watch what you remove, as it's a manual process. Also an excellent program for removing junk(temp files, cookies, previous links, etc.), while allowing you to keep site cookies with passwords that you don't want deleted. Best, Paul
spacesurfer Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 okay, so you optimize the registry and you clean your registry.... and the benefit??? is it really realized by performance gain or does it just make you feel good that it's optimized and cleansed???i've used ccleaner to clean the registry but really, it offers no real performance gain. it just makes me feel good that the so-called orphan entries are removed.just some food for thought for all.(i do use ccleaner for cleaning out junk files though.)
weEvil Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I use CCleaer with no problems. NTREGOPT is flawless. You can try RegSeeker 1.55. I used it religiously on XP without issues, only ran it a couple of times on Vista.

I've had problems/errors using Regseeker on Vista.NTREGOPT is great for use under Vista but the creator recommends disabling UAC for NTREGOPT to work flawlessly as noted in his FAQs here:http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/faq.htm Edited November 12, 2008 by erpdude8
