nLite and MicroXP

Does nLite work with MicroXP?

Removing components and creating a new image seems to work, but I have'nt tried to install it.

Maybe MicroXP is warez, but I will use my legitimate serial with it.

by microXP im guessing u mean a slimmer version of XP?

if so , then use nlite :P on a clean source (full XP disc) shouldnt use nlite with a source thats already been nlite'd or slimmed down, cuz u might get errors

MicroXP has removed much more than you can do with nLite, and has done some hacking to.

My question is actually, will nLite undo what eXPerience has done?

Is there any (easy) way to make your own legit "MicroXP"?

Just tried a quick installation on a old HD before I go to bed, everything seems to work, but there is still more to remove, why is e.g. Flash there? But that will be a quest for tomorrow ;-)

Then you haven't seen much ;-)

Removing components is useless to a certain point, as in components that cant otherwise be disabled or such easily, then it's possibly the only way. Luckily i haven't met anything that can't be disabled yet. Which is nice.

What really matters concerning boot time and such is apart from hardware, size of registry, inf files and language files, especially nls files, and most importantly, drivers.

There's a whole pile of s*** that can be removed and or disabled even after you have removed everything with nlite.

I just found another one: MediumCache. It's huge on every PC I've seen* and can be deleted with no ill effects. But it gets rebuilt often.

I really should publish my finds somewhere. :)

Should you need one, I have still a few 10 feet custom designed ones, cedar, sturdy, metal end, quite effective:

A bit heavy, though. ;)

I tried with 5 feet ones, but they were too d@mn short, so I went for midway, ending up with 7' 1/2 ones:

No, thank you. I actually installed trial version on this new laptop I'm toying with, that has the advantage of having blank HDD. While I can see that some people can get away with it and actually use it for something (when it lets go off their hand :)), it's definitely not for me.

Being a tweaker as I am, I went straight for prefetch/superfetch and brought it down to its knees. :P Slow as molases. So I decided not to waste my time any more and wiped the hard disk (several times, for good measure :)).

But enough OT....
