tim_ver Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Are you getting this all from one website? I am looking on just Newegg now, but they are out of the BFG 8800 GTS G92 512 meg cards.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143119Or is this one a better card, I just want to make sure.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143117

For only $10 more, holy cow!Is the only difference that the GTS is overclocked? LIke just being an overclocked 8800GT?
puntoMX Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Intel quad processorQX9650…Also, that proc QX9650, I can only find for over $1,000. Do you know of something close/similar in the $300-$400 dollar price range for a processor? My bad, I thought you were looking for parts to build an extreme system...
foolios Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 No, that's my fault. I originally wanted the best/second best not realizing I could fork over a grand for just one part. LMAO, that is insane. I couldn't even imagine what a system that has that kind of power could do. I think I've relatively got a decent grouping of parts for around $1600.
Zxian Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 If you want to see the most insane rig around here lately, check this out! Wanna give us the latest parts list? Also, regarding the Raptor drives, two of them in RAID0 will give you the best performance, but if you're worried about the extra price tag, two 320GB drives in RAID0 will give you almost the same performance for about half the price.

foolios Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Wanna give us the latest parts list?Sure do. The graphics card might change to a GTS because according to this linkhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143119 it's only $10 more than the GT but I want to know the difference first. There seems to be some inconsistencies regarding the spec list, like the standard bus speed doesn't appear right. And I might have to go with a little more power on the power supply. Plus I am going to add the case I choose. It appears that ram can be either dual channel or SLI. I thought this was an interchangeable naming convention when it came to memory/ram. Is there any difference? I might have the wrong memory for this motherboard if so. Edited December 27, 2007 by foolios
ripken204 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 for the ram SLI certified ram is just a scam, dont worry about if its SLI certified or notfor video card, the GT will be good for your 19" but if you want something bigget then go for the GTSfor motherboard, i would still hold off on this build for some more 780i boards to come out. there should be many to choose from in january
newsposter Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Remember that if at any time you want to run a monitor in 'real' HDTV resolution, you're probably going to need a graphics card that has on-board hardware codecs as well as enough horsepower and memory to run full-color 1920x1200 at 30+ fps. Dual-channel DVI (and not just dual connectors, but real dual-channel DVI) as well as HDMI are important.
foolios Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Ok, modified my list because I know what motherboard I am choosing and since it's an evga I figured I should really probably stick with the evga video card as well. That makes perfect sense doesn't it? Who better to know how to make them both work best with each other than the same manufacturer.Drive*2x - Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEMCPU*Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - RetailMemory*Mushkin 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail Cas 5-4-4Video*EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail - Free Crysis game included, while supplies lastMB*EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - RetailManufacturerROM*ASUS Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 14X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe - RetailPSU*CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - RetailFor case, I am looking at these:Antec900http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15900Lian Li 2000http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.p...ex=6&type=bThermaltake Armorhttp://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis...r/va8003bws.aspHow's it looking now? I am really concerned about the gpu switch to evga but it's the recommended G92 by you guys and I really think staying with evga for both the mb and gpu should be a smart move.
ripken204 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) i actually prefer EVGA. and i am actually about to order that same exact videocard tonight or tomorrow..as for the case, i have the lian-li v2000b, it is a great case but it costs alotfor the price get this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811129021the rebate only lasts a few more days so if you want it then be quick!free shipping on it also! foolios Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 (edited) Awesome price on that. Great deal! Thanks for the link!I like it because it's much simpler than the other two. It still has the vents in the right spots to let in airflow. Edited December 28, 2007 by foolios
