hi thanks for the great pack

i have a small problem i want to include these sound in my UA cd but i have already removed windows sounds from my source using nlite so can i now include these files to my cd

which files do i need to edit?

I see you simply overwrite the existing XP files. I've created an MSI installer that actually ADDS the sounds to your windows XP installation and adds it as a selectable sound scheme via the control panel. As an added bonus I've added the Windows 95 & Windows 98 desktop themes and also the Windows 95, 98, NT soundschemes. All of this can be run during your unattended installation and doesn't change or overwrite existing settings.

Oh btw... it's 70 MB.

You Don't Need To Edit Your Files Just Copy This Files Into Your I386 Folder.

After Installation It Works As Windows Default XP Sound Scheme.

you can actually do this yourself. its quite easy

you can do it manually by overwriting the original sounds with the vista ones

1. find a vista sound pack. they will probably be pretty easy to find somewhere on the internet. i found mine on deviantart

2. rename the vista sound files to match those that windows xp uses.

3. open up notepad and make a file with this:

@echo Off

title MakeCab all file in current directory

FOR %%L IN (*.*) DO makecab %%L /L ".\Cab"

exit

4. save the file as createcabs.cmd

5. place createcabs.cmd in the same directory where you have your vista sound files located.

double click on the createcabs.cmd and it should run a batch process and place newly created cabbed files in a folder named cab.

6. after that just copy the newly created cab files and paste inside the i386 folder. if you did it correctly, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the originals.

and there you have it. vista sounds replacing the xp ones by default

Thanks. And you're right! I can do it myself! I made a Vista sound addon in 2006 lol. Well i did some renaming of the sound files. Now i can just copy over the original files.

unless something has changed recently, they are the same sounds used in vista
