July 4, 200719 yr Hi.I have a Sony VAIO desktop with Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D drive with 5.1.2535.0 driver.I can play DVDs and CDs and write to regular blank CDs, but cannot get it to recognize either blank DVDs or blank CD-RW disks.Note that my other Sony VAIO laptop has same problem.They are both running WinXP.Thx for any help.Bob
July 4, 200719 yr Older versions of nero use to have a problem like this with this drive. Updating nero sorted it. Could try updating firmware.
July 4, 200719 yr well im guessing he's using the xp burning program... which is complete crap. nero would at least say something about the disk.
July 4, 200719 yr Author Am using the CD Wizard? ...... but note that don't even have to get to this stage. When look at E Drive when have one of these 2 things (blank DVD or blank CD-RW) in, and click on Properties, does not show any info, while with regular CD or DVD in, properties gives me info.Bob

July 4, 200719 yr have you tried different brands of blank dvds? sometimes certain burners won't work with certain brands..
