  1. Silly me! Thanks for the advice! I did manage to make a PC-Dos floppy wich boots up Ghost, but nothing happens while in dos only an hourglass. Please help me with this? My Pc is Intell Core 2 Duo (Conroe) running WindowsXP SP2. Update: nevermind, the floppy works on intended Linux machine!
  2. I have System Works Professional 2003 CD wich includes Ghost 2003. I can´t boot Ghost 2003 from the CD so I want to make a bootable Ghost 2003 CD. Can you please give me advice on this?
  3. If log file for KB917344 has been created, than perhaps you can find out the cause of this problem.
  4. I got Academic Edition copy when I asked of an upgrade edition, no question´s asked
  5. I do have one copy of XP Pro Academic Edition, are we talking about the same edition? The Academic is an Upgrade. I´m a student, computer student
  6. Maybe the article in the following link is old as Microsoft has fixed some reported bugs, but it´s interesting and maybee a bit sad http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/securit...06/07/post.html (with included 42 pages PDF report)
  7. In fact this is an interesting question! It will restore the operating system setup as it was originally provided by the manufacturer. But the question is, how will the recovery media erase existing data under the previous system state.
  8. Yes, where do I get the new build? I already have Vista beta 2 license.
  9. Maybe it would be a ghostly shadow if they did. To be honest I think by using a bootable media included in a product like True Image or Ghost, it is a bit different than by installing it and using it on a regular basis on the licensed machine. But that is only an idea, because it is not really justifiable, as it is of course against the license terms.
  10. Thanks, they all say this of course, and I have to accept that
  11. I chose Imaging because I have to many applications and games wich I don´t want to go through with all the installations and reebooting again and again. I don´t do much unnattended of this reason.
  12. By using one licensed copy of True Image 9 or Ghost 2003 on more than one machine, while working with bootable backup media, do I use my copy illegally?
  13. Good luck, True Image is good. But when I tried Ghost 2003 (Ghost 10 is the newest for home and small business) I found out that Ghost is special, it´s like heaven or something. Update: today I restored an image of 50GB in an hour with Acronis True Image. Reimaged about 70GB in about an hour and a half. Before I image I delete all junk files, check the disk for errors and defragment. I prefer to use bootable media while imaging. Update2: and of course I use disk wipe tool before I restore an image.
  14. I installed this patch yesterday (manually), and it seems just fine. It shows below Net.Framework 2 in Add/Remove program window. I´m aware of problems people are having with this peace of patch.
  15. Hi! Today I see that I need to log in just to enter the forum. This was not so yesterday.
  16. Nero 7 Premium is running pretty well for me. You could take the advice to choose the others or maybe continue with Nero 7 and try to install it with fewer install options. The Nero 7 premium package is a bit heavy.
  17. Even though you have obtained correct patch for your computer? Is the computer running XP or the x64 edition of Microsoft Windows Server 2003?
  18. Sorry for my ignorance, but you got the KB article right or what? Like (at least for XPSP2 if you are using it): WindowsMedia10-KB917734-x86-ENU.exe Sorry again! This is just for simple manual integration, I don´t know your integration method.
  19. Sorry for asking this, but do you realy need to instal that drivers on Vista beta? Does it not work to let it do it automatically like searching by itself online or inserting the drivers cd when prompted?
  20. Windows Vista must be the next logical step forward, though it is delayed. For me it should have been much earlier that MS released an improved desktop OS and definitely a newer SP for XP. I´m really wondering if MS is working on development of another desktop OS wich could be released in just a few years after Vista, like it happened with XP right after Win Me. I´m almost surtain that they are, because it seems logical. Maybe they will, with the new DirectX10 while they are playing war games
