Hello all. I am looking for some got tips and recommended wifi routers. What i am wanting to do is give wifi internet to 3 laptops which are all wifi ready. I am also wanting wifi for a music player which streams internet radio...this again is wifi ready. Now what i need is a router which can deliver wifi internet to all these appliances and also which is the best router for this job. I am willing to pay good money for the router recommended...so any suggestions?

you download and install powertoys for windows xp and then when you run tweakui you click where it says my computer in the sidebar and then tick 'files stored on this computer this computer'.

@ ripken: i have moved the router around a little and i am starting to see an improve in signal strength. i will have to work around to get the router and cable modem in a place which will give me some full strength.

Hi all. I have recently purchased a wireless linksys router for my home internet connection. I have setup the router with my broadband modem and all works fine on the pc which is hardwired ( cat 5 to cat 5 of router). Also the internet on my wireless laptop is working with no problems however there is just one little snag; the connection quality is low on the LAN status box. I have looked over the manual which came with the router and cant find a cure to this little problem. For the record the router is downstairs and the wirless laptop is basically upstairs directly beneath the router. Any help guys.. and is this a good router which i have bought? Thanks in advance folk!

have you disabled the guest account, if so enable the guest account.

i have one suggestion for the time being...you could use firefox until someone on msfn has the answer.

i am not sure you can manipulate service pack build numbers. i do however recommend service pack 2. if you have any problems with certain aspects of service pack 2 you can use msfn and other online microsoft related for any help which might require. it is really worth while updating.

I recommend, if you cant find the firmware, is to try forward some ports on your router..these could stop the router freezing or 'resetting'. i had similar probs when i tried to use bt so i forward port 8000 and then the app and router worked fine.

hi dimegrind. Have you got any firewalls running, if so allow the firewalls to access each computer: do this for both pc's. What i have noticed is that when i have my sp2 firewall on, the 98se machine cant access the xp machine.

when your try tp upgrade it says you cant upgrade, says you need to do a new install

if you go to the language setting in Microsoft Office Tools, you should be able to change from there right? or this only for what you type will be changed to english? some correct me if im nto accurate there

i would recommend to switch off system restore all together. instead for backups use something like Powerquests drive image. i use that sometimes and is relatively easy to create and install backups of a drive.

i can help you with the difference between xp pro and xp corp. xp pro needs registering when installed where as xp pro corp doesnt. the latter is used in big organizations.

hi, i have a little problem with a memory error which will sometimes occur when i suddenly shut the browser of ie, it is always happening when i use this site: www.blastbilliards.com. it gives a message regarding memory reference. i only freshly installed windows at the weekend. i am running xp professsional with sp2.

yeah ok i no time on my hand at the mo, will do a fresh install and take up from there.
