  1. Welcome to the MSFN!
  2. Have you tried IP Board Mobile skin? You can select it at the bottom of each page.
  3. In the F8 menu, see if you have a Step-By-Step configuration. Not all systems have them. But if yours does, you can see what it tries to load after MUP.SYS because it will ask you to confirm loading it.
  4. I found the only (supported) options for me are the Wallpaper and the User Tile. The other ones I can't change due to licensing restrictions! For the wallpaper, I used DesktopBackground child of Themes object, but Windows picks the default. Possible reason: ComputerName page in OOBE is set to not display! Same type deal for User Tile. This is set by OOBE.XML, and I checked the Panther logs and it does show it reads that file and locates the custom user tile. However, documentation says that Windows will choose one of the default icons if User Name page in OOBE is hidden! User Tile has been confirmed by the documentation, however DesktopBackground isn't as easy to figure out. Here is an example: User Tile info: And DesktopBackground: The first part makes sense, but the Note makes me think you should be able to specify it even if the Computer Name field is hidden.... Quotes from here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744376%28WS.10%29.aspx
  5. The Administrator account isn't hidden, it is just disabled. You can find it both in C:\Users and in Computer Management.
  6. Happy XP DGR EOL Day!

  7. Your PE will need the Scripting and HTA packages installed. Otherwise, code questions will get this thread moved.
  8. You are refering to using the skip rearm, which allows extra times.
  9. 1. We have a vLite forum. I am going to move this topic there. 2. vLite is for personal use. You should read the License that comes with it.
  10. Oooo I have some questions! Can these be accomplished with the unattend? CLG for Windows 7 Pro x86. I checked the help file and can't find anything, so I won't be disappointed if no one else knows. 1. Taskbar Style. Let's say a user makes the taskbar half-height, wan't the wide minimized boxes and sets a smaller font size. 2. Desktop icon arrangement. I already have icons in the Public Desktop, and are arranged in certain places on the desktop in Audit Mode. After sysprep, these icons are still there but are now set to auto-arrange by name. 3. Start Panel being blank. Take your regular Windows 7 (not classic) start panel and remove all the recently used and pinned icons and this place is blank. After sysprep, the default items appear. 4. Start Menu items. We know you can manually customize what items are in the Start Menu such as Computer, printers, etc. If you specify a custom arrangement in Audit Mode and sysprep, the default menu items return. 5. Profile Picture. By default, Windows will randomly pick one of the built-in "avatars" for a new user. Can I specify a specific picture instead? That's it for now!
  11. Not sure about the touch pad, but I have Ricoh drivers injected into my Win7 install images and that works fine.
  12. The Info Tool comes with AutoIT. Actually its called AutoIT Window Info. Basically you open the program you want to automate. Then open the Info tool. You can select buttons on the installer and the tool will tell you what the Modal values are for those buttons or windows. BUT! Some programs will show no info so it is not the perfect solution. If there is a silent command line you can look or ask in here: http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/80-application-installs/ I have made an autoit app that installs Nero and just passed the full command. The reason i do not like specifying coords is because sometimes the windows do not always open in the same place, or screen resolution can be different.

    hi

    Welcome to both of you!
  14. Tripredacus, thanks for your reply. I would think a heads up would be appreciated here. Don't know what IPS is. So, enjoy, John. IPS is Invision Power Services. They are the company that develops the base of this forum software. People who use IP.Board can make their own changes or add-ons, but the underlying code is handled by them. Have you seen if there are any updates for IE9 beta? Anything in Windows Update or maybe a newer download? I haven't gotten IE9 beta yet (I was an early adopter for IE8 Beta tho) so I'm not sure what is out there.
  15. Is it possible that the code breaks if it encountered an access denied condition? Is this a shared app used by multiple people, or is it using files available to multiple people?
  16. Is there no unattend/silent install option for that product? I got away from using coords in AutoIT early on because of resolution differences. Or you can use the Info Tool to get button names instead.
  17. Welcome to the MSFN!

  19. I typically do not update this too much regarding hardware changes or interesting stories. I should actually go and take out the systems I do not have any more. Anyways, Uncle Socks was the idea for this thread so here we go! 7Server and Uncle Socks have been off for a few weeks because they weren't needed. Well I've been working with my lackey on a new project, mostly discussion of, how to bring back the old Linux imaging via WDS idea. Well we got to the point where we wanted to try some things out. The original project hit the shed because I couldn't get WDS and AD to work together to pre-qualify systems to boot into the Linux bootrom vs WDSNBSP. Because I am fairly confident on my ability to recreate WDS servers, as well as the stability of our existing systems, I did not see a reason why we can't just convert 7Server to natively use the Linux bootrom. But things are not so easy just like that. So I had pressed the power button on Uncle Socks but it did not turn on! I took the system out and tried another PSU. The computer would then boot. Great! I say, except that the chassis it is in is severely EOL to the point where finding a replacement PSU to fit the custom form factor would be impossible. So I went on a journey into the warehouse and found a 5 bay chassis that would fit the board and a new PSU. I also was able to find a brand new motherboard layout sticker to put inside the new case. I started rebuilding it at about 9am, went into a meeting for 1:30 and then was able to finish it in about 30 minutes. So with the meeting in the middle, it felt like it took 4 hours to rebuild it! I also went and got the label maker to print 2 new "Uncle Socks" and "Chinese Warlord" stickers for the front of the new system. As far as labels go, all I need to do now is get a new Asset Tag printed for it, but that will have to wait until next week. Next, I go hook it all back up to the KVM and turn it on. The system boots! It gets up to the "configuring network" part of Windows and I realise that since it has the Infrastructure FSMO, it is probably looking for the 7Server. Hit the switch and (unlock) turn on 7Server. It boots, sees all the ram, has a healthy RAID5 and boots into Windows. I log into the system, then switch back over to... Uncle Socks is not on anymore. Go press the power button, the motherboard makes a wacky beep... Thermal Errors! Oh no! Try to go into the BIOS and system powers off. Everythings plugged in. I had a (real) builder look at it, seems fine. Its lunch time now, so after wards I will see what else I can do to make it work. Uncle Socks will live again! Update: The CPU paste was all old and crumbly. In the process of reseating the fan, I busted the pins. So a fan replacement fixed it.
  20. Well, even Microsoft doesn't really support IE9. I would think that if a particular forum feature doesn't work properly in Beta software, IPS would be a better place to report it. I am sure there will be a forum update when IE9 goes RTM!
  21. I noticed you also said LocalVariables. Have you tried using Global variables for those?
  22. You may be able to find those drivers in the XP DriverPacks but you are going to need to do a hardware inventory of what is needed on the system. If it doesn't hurt, you can install the OS and see how it works out.
  23. Presuming that works, other USB devices such as keyboard and mouse should not work either. When I get a system with one of these card readers (presuming not a notebook) and I have to use an XP CD on it, I just unplug the card reader from the USB header on the motherboard.
  24. The drive that Windows is installed on needs to be C. And change the reagentc command to point to the correct drive letter where Windows is. Unfortunately for the masses, the technet info is amazingly vague/complicated and missing some important steps. I wonder why MS even bothers putting it online like that.
  25. If you are going to such lengths to protect your system, might as well just use BitLocker or a related technology...
