You can forget about the OS-level settings since you are having a problem with the browser. First try another browser (mozilla or chrome based) and see if those work. If they do not, you can look at OS-level troubleshooting. Things to try (troubleshooting only) 1. Set Internet security to Low 2. If you have a router or cable modem, try to connect to their internal pages. 3. Try to restore the Advance Settings button on the Advanced Tab. 4. Try going to this link: about:Tabs

I've had some experience with Deep Freeze as well but I didn't like it very much. The Ram-Overlay option in XP Embedded (haven't tried W7WES yet) seems to be a better option for my tastes. Another option would be using the thin/thick client solution provided my Microsoft, but the name escapes me at the moment. PS: I wanted to add that I have successully defeated a system with Deep Freeze and an XPe with Ram-Overlay. Neither is perfect. Thin Clients may be the most secure, I haven't tried breaking one of those yet.

I suppose it may be possible to delete the boot image out of Reminst, but since it is so small (under 500MB) why not just leave it disabled and ignore it? I had multiple disabled boot images on my old WDS so it wasn't too big of a deal, especially if they aren't taking up much hard drive space.

The AppDeploy I found is an MSI repackager. You shouldn't have a problem doing a silent on an MSI unless it has a wrapper like MSSE or Nero does.

Finally, someone posted about a board I've actually used. Things to try: - try using less RAM (for test) like 4GB - run memtest - try take out the memory and then turn on PC. It should beep. If it doesn't... - reseat the CPU I've had a semi-brick motherboard, this one doesn't sound so bad.

I see it is disabled. Try enable the image and then delete it. But since it is disabled, it will not be an option for a PXE boot anyways.

I believe that Windows Setup will ignore this code you posted. Did you build it with WSIM? The reason I am asking is because you are missing a few things. Compare the above quoted code to the following: <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> Setup looks at the answer file to match the arch of the install to the XML. So since you do not specify an arch, it will skip those components. I do not know if Setup requires all of the information that WSIM puts in, but anytime you are having trouble with an Answer File, you should check it in WSIM after loading the appropriate CLG. Now, from the documentation it appears you can only use thes options in WindowsPE and Specialize passes. Source

I'm not sure. The DNS Suffix is a domain name that a DHCP server can send to a client. Not all networks do this, or most home networks do not by default either. This can be important only for a few reasons. Some networks will not resolve DNS requests if the DNS Suffix does not match the domain the system is on. I've only seen this happen on ISP's ISDN and DSL systems, but I imagine you could configure an enterprise domain to do this also. I am not certain how this option is used with the XML, but likely this is also something you can do on a deployed system with the NET command? Does this mean this is the list it goes through for every request or just when it accepts the IP information it is given? Does this mean you can override DHCP information?

The XML in the WIM format is actually compliant. However, any command you use to export it will put a text header in there that (technically) should be in a CDATA. So if you export it to TXT, take the header out and rename ext to XML, it will open in an XML editor. This comment is presuming we are referring to the same thing.

It all depends on what type of media it is. As an example, third parties are not allowed to sell OEM Recovery Discs (yet they do) without a computer purchase. They are not allowed to sell OEM/Disty CDs (yet they do) without a hardware purchase. However, Retail media should be just fine. The reason you may see lower prices on Retail media is if they are EOL (end of life) or no longer being stocked by the distributor. You may also see lower prices on SP2/b media as compared to SP3 media. The real problem is that some websites that sell OSes do not use the real picture, but a stock photo. I never buy anything with a stock photo unless I have a history with them. Also, they do not list the part numbers on the media. Some Windows media do not come with COAs and some do! This would be helpful information. Or let's say (for example) you already have a COA but need the media. Well, the part number on the COA needs to match certain part numbers on the media. This is more true for XP and older OSes, Vista and 7 are a little better since you can install those without a product key and just call the Activation Center. Oddly enough, I found one website selling XP media that is listed as "refurbished"...

What you are referring to as a User Account Picture (which was previously referred to as a Start Menu Picture) is actually called the User Tile.
-
You can also do this with the Windows Boot Menu. However this option does not exist in SBS, not sure if 2003 or 2008.

That is normal for the most part. It doesn't make sense sometimes, such as the keyboard and mouse working prior to this screen coming up. I think that Windows might actually unload the default drivers it used for your devices during install, and re-detect and try to install the ones from the installed files.

The requirements say minimum Vista or XP SP2. You can see them here: https://www.mesh.com/Welcome/howto/reqs.aspx Have you tried to install it already?

There is a bug in the skin in at least the Hardware Hangout. See this picture: Oh I forgot to mention specs. I am using Firefox 3.6.12. I will have to check how it looks at home, I have a different browser there.

Use Google Translate. That probably doesn't make sense.
