  1. /u don't work From RUN command Uninstall msiexec /x C:\Windows\System32\webfldrs.msi To Install msiexec /i C:\Windows\System32\webfldrs.msi can't seem to find silent though.
  2. hehe FthrJACK Nothing stops them I had ZoneAlarm Pro and all them tweaks applied and the thing still was dialing out. I unplugged phone line and fixed was only way to stop it. I emailed the thing to ZoneAlarm but never heard nothing of it. That's 1 time in 9 year's so guess I been lucky, after all I knew it was a dialer and let it install just to see what happen's - Test Mode. XP on the other hand does try to connect by itself, if you have broadband you don't even know it's happening except I disable the LAN each time I finish on the web so when I boot it doesn't connect till I let it.
  3. Then exactly where and how do I call this and make it stick. You're saying also that I need the same in my Winnt.sif [Display] section? The winnt.sif alone don't work here.
  4. One note on that InstallWatch It exports entries in old REGEDIT4 syntax I have found just a couple key's it didn't want to work on so add Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 to top of your export.
  5. I've used that on SP2 and it seemed to work SP2\i386\update\Update.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD I tried the last 4 and they don't seem to say they are able to use that 828741.EXE /? 837001.EXE /?
  6. Those 2 usually stopped that on mine as i said when I had dial-in and I guess on my broadband cause I have nothing try to connect now. I also do the disable source check on IE and a few other thing's. I don't use msconfig i go straight to the reg and delete whatever try's to get out and make a reg thing to fix for the next time, probably not for the masses that don't do reg thing's though. I guess if you disabled them then they are now under this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
  7. Xmac but only problem is it won't dial in that way, least my experience with dial-up which I no longer have. Heres a couple things to try. Disable Automatic Modem Connections at Startup.reg Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole] "EnableRemoteConnect"="N"Disable Autodial for some Programs.reg REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS Autodial\Control] "LoginSessionDisable"=dword:00000001
  8. The very best and i have been using for a long time and I have used em all and I do mean all. InstallwatchPro Those that take a snapshot then you have to sort out are crap. This one take's a snapshot, you apply tweak, you Analyze You go down and expand and right click on the reg entries and choose Export as a reg file. Note that there are 3 entries for reg, Added, Modified, Deleted but you can sort out what's needed with a little pratice. This thing even analyzes file changes but it take's a little longer scanning a 120mb drive loaded with a lot of stuff. Then of course not plugging myself I use my own Jump2Reg program available on my webpage below to jump into the reg where changes are being made for further analyzing. Its lite and out of the way. Thinking about adding the scanning to it but it would take awhile.
  9. But do you see Links in mine? This is not Folders created in Links its something else but I got side tracked on something else and get back to this later. Trying to create something to do this simply.
  10. As XMac said It copy to system32 folder but it wouldn't work for me so I just changed it and use this way for Incredimail. REG ADD %KEY%\iAdd /V 2 /D "%systemroot%\System32\pskill IncMail" /f You have to kill whatever process it is and whatever you're trying to kill may be short name like that Incredimail. for Zonealarm "%systemroot%\System32\pskill zclient" /f
  11. Missing files read all about it here They are missing if you use a SP1 CD and slip the SP2, only fix is to get those files elsewhere right now and copy to I386 or use a NON SP1 CD. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=12546
  12. To use environment variables it has to be a REG_EXPAND_SZ key REG ADD /? will show you as Aaron pointed out and it support's the REG_EXPAND also REG ADD HKLM\Software\MyCo /v Path /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d %%systemroot%% Adds a value (name: Path, type: REG_EXPAND_SZ, data: %systemroot%) Notice: Use the double percentage ( %% ) inside the expand string
  13. That example will open the folder and you can modify as you like to start a program also. I like cause its not an extra program running. I have about 3 entries there and you can add more.
  14. As I recall first thing is to remove Linux boot loader whichever you using grub or whatever so PC boots straight to Win. Then follow instructions on my page to boot with CD and delete Linux partition. Try this to get into Recovery Console. My note on this say's Auto Login Admins Recovery Console w/ SP1 Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole] "SecurityLevel"=dword:00000001 To install the Recovery Console as a startup option With Windows XP running, insert your Windows XP CD in the drive, and click Exit when the installation options are displayed. Click Start, click Run, and then type D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons Where D: is the CD-ROM drive letter, and then press Enter. (There is a space between .exe and the forward slash.) Follow the instructions on screen to install the Recovery Console, and when the installation is complete, restart your computer. The Recovery Console will show up in the list of available operating systems in the Startup menu. You must be an administrator to use the Recovery Console.
  15. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=13334 You can add a shortcut to anything, add as many as you like and its simply done with registry. Look for this Add a shortcut to any folder and it appears on Start Menu and all folders.
  16. Check this out http://www.maxxpsoft.com/xpinstall.php?
  17. Boot with your XP CD and you can delete and do whatever, even Linux partition's but won't allow you to format. To Fdisk boot with a 98 floppy and use FDisk. Remember though Fdisk is limited on partition size. Pics here bottom of page - http://www.maxxpsoft.com/xpinstall.php?

    XP drivers

Yes but don't install both Roxio and Nero together. I was just pointing out Easy CD Creator 4 doesn't fare too well in XP. I remember reading something about a problem if you did install ver 4 with XP. Ver 5.1 and above is Ok. Everyone does know that Roxio is what XP uses for its sucky internal. Too each their own bp72 check these out see if thats whats up Disappearing CD-RW - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q314060 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;315345 http://www22.brinkster.com/moncom/moncomcd...p?topictoview=4 http://www.memorexlive.com/support/custom_...k_fix_guide.pdf BTW - If the drive just won't boot up you can try installing it as a slave to a working PC and try recover your stuff.

    XP drivers

Latest version of Roxio drivers that work on XP are Updates Easy CD Creator 5.x.x Basic and Starter Kit to 5.3.5 May 13, 2003 = http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/ecdc_...xp_updt53.jhtml You have to log in for that. Might also need the DriveUp5.3.1a.exe - look around that site for that. As far as the CD just working try reboot in safe mode = F8 as it gets past BIOS select Safe Mode, uninstall there and reboot and see if it pick's it up. 20. Did you try removing the line AutoPartition = 1 Just completely delete it.
  21. medhunter I've looked myself I can't find anything in Deploy either Did find this though DISKPART and FORMAT take approximately 90 seconds for large hard drives. Here CFGDISK.CMD DISKPART /s DISKSCR.TXT FORMAT C: /fs:ntfs /q /v:"" /y DISKSCR.TXT select disk 0 create partition primary assign letter c If there was a way to make it run
  22. No trev - ought to be able to right click and delete folders from programs, at least if you have Admin right's or a policy is not blocking this or worse yet a virus or spyware. Yes you are in the right area unless a file is corrupt, haven't modified theme or shell have you? That I need to know. What exactly are you trying to delete by name just for a clue? - Not some kinda Porn crud is it? I remember seeing this somewhere but have to look around.
  23. 2 Keys you need to look at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser] 1 Is when you add stuff other is the Text
  24. Also do it with a floppy, can't see why burn a CD just to add winnt.sif Floppy XP Setup - Plain?
  25. If you're talking about Unattended then AutoPartition = 1 Installs Windows to the first available partition or simply delete this line Repartition = Yes Deletes all partitions on the first drive and reformats the drive with NTFS. in Winnt.sif set these keys [Data] AutoPartition = 1 [unattended] Repartition = Yes Is that what you wanted?
