    ExplorerXP

I've used it and its not good. Its main problem being it insists on showing folder-size, and probing for it takes time. Maybe its good for a WinPE though.
  2. More details please... Also, post it in the correct section of forums!
  3. No, windows messenger is not in Server 2003, and there's no way to get it installed on it either (without any hacks). Windows Messenger is only for XP, and win2k/2k3 are offered only MSN messenger.
  4. An old version of nLite would do this - did you use it? The latest is v0.98.8 - and if you use nLite for slip-streaming alone, then use - http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windo..._slipstream.asp. That was just one possibility.... Other than that, if we knew WHAT hardware is getting detected in those wizards, we could help some more....
  5. @Zubair No difference from english version. Follow the guide page - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/space_saving_tips.htm. You can delete all the files/folders mentioned there, and your arabic language support will still be there. If you thought the "LANG" folder was needed to get Arabic scripts, no you can delete it.
  6. Hmm.... Does sound odd. Since you mention "pre-fetch" I'll assume this is Windows XP we are talking about. 1. First off, in folder options, ensure that both "hidden" and "system" files are asked to be visible. 2. Go to "Control Panel >> System Properties >> System Restore". 3. And put a check-mark at the "turn off System restore on all drives". 4. open "C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Local Settings\Temp" and delete all contents of that folder. 5. Clean out "C:\WINDOWS\Temp" as well. 6. Clean out the pre-fetch folder (C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch) as well. 7. Empty the recycle bin and re-boot. 8. Log back in (after reboot) and re-enable system restore. Does this solve the "mario" issue? EDIT: Also, run "Search" and choose "Change Preferences >> Search With a different character" and choose "Rover" or something that you know is a genuine search assistant.
  7. The e-Books folder is not re-created by MS's own files. That one's the folder made by Adobe Acrobat Reader. I did read somewhere (right here in this forum) that there was some other file (maybe a DLL or one of those .api files in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\plug_ins"). That file looks after the task of annoying us with the eBooks folder. Now, if only that thread was remembered by someone else as well..... 'coz I don't.
  8. @eagle57 Hello, and welcome to MSFN. First off, you don't need to bother about SP1 at all. SP2 includes the SP1 updates. So you should directly merge SP2 (called slip-stream) into your existing XP CD. The guide to do so is at this link - http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windo..._slipstream.asp. Then, once you have an XP+SP2 slip-streamed CD by following the guide linked above, see the second guide here - http://unattended.msfn.org. That's all - the process is easy as thousands of people have found out. All the best!
  9. Well then, that being so, I'd make this cautionary note: No offense towards anybody, that's just a friendly cautionary piece.
  10. right buletov. And now for some specifics from my side - I've successfully over-clocked my AthlonXP 2400+ (ThoroughBred core, B0 batch) from its native frequency of 2 GHz (133 MHz *real* FSB) upto 2340 MHz (156 MHz *real* FSB). And it ran fine for 2 days (I switched back to normal speed within 2 days ). Pushing beyond 2340 MHz resulted in unstable operation. So yeah, try pushing your luck - (11x200=2200 MHz), maybe can go higher, but maybe not - over-clocking is not a straight-forward science. Your processor can suddenly die on you after running stably for weeks - right when you least expect it.
  11. @Nilfred My apologies, if the words I used above were phrased incorrectly. I agree with you about what you are saying. What I should have said was - Nilfred, your contribution to this thread is much appreciated.
  12. Guess which is the site (top 1) first visited by many of those here - no prizes! Obviously it is? MSFN !!!

    Hello

Hi almost4, You're welcome for the time you DO want to hang around the forum!
  14. Indeed RedVyper. You are now welcomed! (belatedly so, though )
  15. WinPE does run from CD, after loading required things into memory. 64 MB should be enough for just a normal setup of WinPE - more if you're adding plugins like XPE, etc.
  16. True - not everytime is an Office XP/2003 install working properly before GUIrunOnce. Some are lucky, but if you're doing it for the first time, don't depend on luck - the tried and tested route is been told by Alanoll.
  17. Right. I would like to know that as well!
  18. Real Player 10 - gold There may even be more threads dealing with it, search! Jet Audio has an Install-Shield setup - use the standard method for such installers. Topic title previously - how can i Install this app unantended Rules of the forum - Also, post in the right sub-forum.
  19. You can't make it use the OEM dir at CD-root, or something. Tried it, the only way is to use a normal folder and then CMDs to call that folder - which is not what we wanted in the first place! What I do is to keep individual $OEM$ folders for each individual setup, and then to use an optimised ISO - that results in no additional space usage for same files being put in repeatedly.
  20. During an upgrade, it might probably do that sort of thing. But then if its upgrade, it knows which partition has the OS to be upgraded! If you boot-up from that CD, it will happen the way you want. Also, that way its a clean-install, which is recommended to have a good, working OS. Try that, and do get back on how it went, and whether it solved your requirement.
  21. I do know that its possible... But just see that the site it results in doesn't start to annoy normal usage. Because, I remember a site which did this: Has a field where you enter case number (its a legal services site). If you used the "Back" arrow key to correct it, it immediately popped up a dialog-box - And it did this every-time I pressed an arrow-key or a back-space. I HAD to use the mouse to get the cursor to where I wanted. That really was one annoying experience.
  22. Thanks, gonna try this - great news! But just a small note - since this will render the driver sign invalid, you need to have the "Ignore Driver Signing" in winnt.sif.
  23. No, .NET framework is not built-into windows XP or SP2. And if you don't know what it is, and everything seems to be running properly, you don't need it. That's all there is to it - so you know the correct thing. Just install the right application at the right position. For example, if you use an Anti-Virus that will carry out Script-Blocking (example: NAV 2003), and you use JS/VBscript, then you should place the AV setup to happen after the time you need to run the script.
  24. The computer name does not matter. The activation looks at your hardware. So if you're installing the NAV and using the pre-activation on the same machine as before, it does not matter what name is auto-generated during setup.
  25. Yes, its possible to do what you want. Look into the "application switches" forum for unattending app-setups, and "Multi-Boot CD/DVDs" forum if that's what you want. BTW, please read the rules of the MSFN forums: A topic titled "question" will not get much attention, since no one knows what the thread is about.*topic title changed
