  1. Hi Dude, Oops!, Since you do not have OEM CD I would advise not to play around with your recovery partition or recovery CD`s. Generally, Vendor practice to apply the factory image to their Laptop. It means, you have a master machine installed and configured with the default applications. Then capture image of the master machine by using the mechanism like Altirs RDeploy / Ghost / ImageX for Vista. In our case, they stored a copy in the hidden parition which may be a saving for the company rather delivering a separate CD to recover the system. Do not attempt to slipstream because the files are already expanded in the hidden parition and you will not find (Install.WIM) elsewhere in your hard drive . Your hidden paritition looks alike when you newly brought the laptop with the default. They should be using WinPE to deploy Windows Vista image. When you use recovery disk creator they just take a snapshot of cd partition and burn to CD. Thats all. However, Vendor do not recommend to delete this parition. BTW, every vendor has their own way to clone the machine. bizzybody, do not put more effort on this. Hope others agree with me or anybody have suggestions. Best wishes, Dilip.
  2. Hi Dude, Just observed something from the log. It looks like domain connectivity not initiated here yet the setup trying to stop services, then trying to install TCP/IP driver and other connectivity protocols after security templates. Can you please extract the System\services registry key from the image and delete any unnecessary third party service that is trying to start/stopped which may be problematic you think. BTW, you have already boot from WinPE all the necessary connectivity driver have been installed and configured. Why that unattended.xml configured to install these services again? 3. Hi Sophy, Can you please confirm not all the pictures in windows email you have seen this problem? Actually, nitroshift solution should work and apparently if its not then we may need to investigate and resolve so that other will also get benefitted if they have similar kind of problem. If this problem observed particularly with one email. May be the following reason 1.) Image displayed from URL link which may not be available. 2.) Antivirus (Email Filtering ) rules 3.) Settings configuration. (check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail , Key Value: Automatically Inline Images , is not 0) Please let us know. or if you have already found the solution. Please post it here, it will help others. Cheers! Best wishes, Dilip.
  4. Hi Dude, SuppressionPolicy key plays a vital role in the performance of the application and shell within the OS. I would advise not remove this key. You can read many technical information SuppressionPolicy key and what it is used for. Verbs can be suppressed through policy settings by adding a SuppressionPolicy value to the verb's key (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb776820.aspx) http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=7265 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829700 phorums.com.au/archive/index.php/t-210448.html http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936093 (tells you what when SuppressionPolicy key is missing) Hope info helps to decide on this policy key. Best wishes, Dilip.
  5. Hi dude, Windows Vista Piracy protection in place. When you install Windows Vista "single user license" more than one machine, every unregistered copy will be active for xx days and you have to renew it again if do not get a valid license key. However, you are attempt to install on the same machine, this may be one of the reason it fails. As far as Virutal Machine / Virtual PC is concerned it should work fine. Please read http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/resourc...ol/default.mspx You can try this, If you have another machine , install VM on it and try to install Vista. It should work, but not top of already installed vista machine. This may break existing one also. Let us know how it goes, Best wishes, Dilip.

Hi Dude, If the last local administrator account is inadvertently demoted, disabled or deleted, safe mode will allow the disabled built-in administrator account to logon for disaster recovery. Read here how to: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsvistasecurity...asecurity_.aspx I think, we are facing very practical scenario, and MS have already taken care of this. Let us know how it goes. Best wishes, Dilip.
  7. Dilip. Go to Control Panel -> Regional And Languages > Install East Asian Languages or visit this url http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Prog...llation_XP.html in Windows 95/98/Me/NT4 users have to download Asian language support and input editor files from Microsoft's Web site. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Dilip
  8. Hi Dude, There is nothing worry about it. ATA Channels n is your motherboard Primary IDE Controller and Secondary IDE Controllers, SATA IDE. SATA IDE controller ICH8 [controller driver] have been applied by Windows Vista for your machine. Best Wishes, Dilip.
  9. Hi Dude, STOP: 0x0000008E (0XC0000005, , ,) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823303/en-us Try to uninstall any new driver you have installed. Use Safe mode to remove any hardware. Before this try the steps below 1.) Restart the machine 2.) Press F8 3.) Select Safe mode 4.) Windows XP should load correctly. 5.) If yes, then launch MSCONFIG 6.) Check services tab 7.) Select Hide all MS services 8.) Without any doubt disable all the third party services. 9.) Restart the machine again and check whether it resolves the problem. If yes, then there should be x service that have got installed may be related to hardware. identify. 10.) If no, try KB above. Let me know. Best wishes, Dilip.
  10. Hi Dude, Try to find the correct driver version first. You are using HP Pavilion 2125 Notebook PC correct?. Please provide the proper model info always. If it is Ze or dv, You should be using DV right, I dont think Ze series has Vista OS info. 1.) Do not modify anything in the pre-installed. 2.) On the pre-installed vista machine open the device manager. 3.) Look for IDE controller note and expand 4.) Check for driver version of SATA, You will definetly find a proper version on HP website. 5.) select your model http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_la...y=Pavilion+2125 6.) assume dv, or if you do not what is your mode is go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...826〈=en 7.) download the driver correctly for SATA controller. 8.) copy the driver on your floppy drive. Press F6 during setup when you see prompt below. Let me know if you still have the problem to setup Windows XP laptop. We will try alternative method. Best wishes, Dilip.
  11. Hi Dude, Microsoft says "When thinking about the size of the paging file, the sum of all the files that make up the paging file is the only value you need to keep in mind.". I think point 2 answer to your questions. However, alternatively, this articles http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314834/en-us (XP version) The following two guidelines should be met when optimizing the paging file: 1. In general, you should set the size of the paging file to the same size as your system RAM plus 12 MB. There is a minimum size requirement of 22 MB for the operating system. If system RAM plus 12 MB is less than 22 MB, increase the size of the paging file until your system RAM plus paging file is at least 22 MB. NOTE: 22 MB is just what the operating system requires for itself. For reasonable application performance, a 40 MB total is recommended. These sizes are recommended because Windows NT requires "backing storage" for everything it keeps in RAM. If Windows NT requires more space in RAM, it must be able to swap out code and data to either the paging file or the original executable file. If Windows NT cannot do this, out of memory errors will be generated. If you set your paging file to system RAM plus 12 MB and you still get low memory warnings, try increasing the size of the paging file. If you need more disk space and you are not getting memory warnings or memory-related problems, you can try to decrease the size of the paging file. Also, if you have enough surplus RAM to support the operating system and application memory requirements, the need for a large paging file is lessened. If you have, for example, 64 MB of RAM, you may be able to safely reduce your paging file to a very small size. 2. If you have multiple hard disks, splitting up the paging file is a good idea, as it will speed up the access time. If you have two hard disks, and you split the paging file, both hard disks can be accessing information simultaneously, greatly increasing the throughput. However, if you have two hard disks, and one hard disk is faster than the other, it may be more effective to store the paging file on only the faster hard disk. Some experimentation may be necessary to arrive at the best configuration for your system. Note: There is no point in splitting up the paging file between multiple partitions as it does not increase the ability of the hard disk to access the paging file. This may be a good idea, however, if your logical drives aren't large enough for the entire paging file. Best wishes, Dilip.
  12. Hi Dude, Targus, do not ship driver USB flash driver for windows vista. System requirements: Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, or Mac OS X and USB port Try to create a virtual USB port and check whether it works for you, I still doubt. If you have already E or F drive please remove it. Some of the USB flash may use specifically E drive. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Dilip.
  13. Hi dude, In your OEM CD. Open "Sources" folder and look for Install.wim which contains OEM files to install Windows Vista. Please let me know if you have any other issue. Hope I understood your problem correctly. Best wishes, Dilip.
