  1. could you please tell me the post no? thank you
  2. How about languages (chinese, japanese). Can I remove them safely? yes If I want Chinese websites to display using chinese characters, do I still need to remove them? also in winxp, I am able to type chinese characters using an english keyboard by adding the chinese keyboard (IME?). I want to use this feature in vista and wondering if I can remove the language without affecting such. thank you.
  3. can you tell me how to use pkgmgr? as I said above, I have copied the contents of the win2008 DVD into a temp folder on the local HDD. thank you very much ps. you said you were able to reduce your win2008 to less than a 1GB. I want to do the same but I'm not sure what program to use or the steps to achieve it.
  4. more question if you don't mind I have an iso mounted as DVD using daemon tools. I copied the contents of the ISO to a temp directory in my local harddrive. 1. Am I able to use the files in the temp folder? 2. If all I want is to remove package, should I be using pkgmgr.exe only? 3. Is this the correct AIK to use? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en thanks for the help
  5. hi aviv00. I hope you can explain some things to me Can you explain the hive/unhive steps? Also where are the "owner's dir"? thank you
  6. this is the vista section and not XP thanks for the help
  7. Are IMEs automatically installed? If not, how do I install them? I can't remember seeing an option to install them during setup (unlike WinXP)? Thanks again
  8. do I need language packs: 1. to view websites in their native language? e.g. viewing korean websites would display text in the korean characters 2. be able to type korean text in apps like word In WinXP, I was able to do these 2 things after installing the built-in language packs. thank you.
  9. thank you for the help. just a question: do I need language packs if all I want is: 1. view websites in their own language (e.g. korean websites displaying them in korean alphabet) 2. be able to type korean alphabet in apps like word I was able to install different languages in winxp and was able to do the 2 things mentioned above. Thank you very much. ps. can you please confirm that the language files metioned in this link are the ones that I need? (http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=337750) Thanks again
  10. can you please tell me how to do it? I have downloaded language packs as mentioned in this thread: http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=337750. They are exe files instead of cab and vlite only accepts cabs. maybe there is a site where I can download .cab language packs? thank you.
  11. So I'm trying to make an nlite CD in my winxp x86 PC. I cannot get SP2 integrated as the update.exe that comes with sp2 is 64-bit. BUT I found some guide somewhere and I was able to get through this (copy all the binaries in "updates" folder from 32bit version of sp2). I downloaded winxp x64 version of IE7 and WMP11. I then loaded my last session. When I ran the process, nlite starts to integrate WMP11 using WMP11 slipstreamer. BUT when it tried to integrate IE7, it keeps on saying This hotfix isn't made for this version of windows. I got the IE7 install from Microsoft's website and it's named "IE7-windows2003-x64-enu.exe". I changed this to "IE7-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe" without much luck. Any ideas?
  12. for example: I made an ISO image of my FreeBSD (unix variant) CD. If I burn this ISO into a DVD (using nero), would the DVD be bootable? thank you very much
  13. or should it be after nlite? I will be using wmp11 slipstreamer or wmp11 integrator. with nlite I will be slipstreaming IE7 and drivers for my motherboards (no other hotfixes). Thank you very much
