  1. Let's get deeper in the issue: take out the CMOS battery, copy the ROM file to a floppy disk, insert the battery back in its position and the floppy in the drive and start the pc. And let us know if it worked.
  2. As cluberti already suggested, I suspect a bad media too...
  3. Is there a chance you can create the connection and upon first use you can check whether is for all users or a specific user?
  4. Just let them be and set FF and Outlook as default programs.
  5. What happens if you chose "Remove from this list" instead of deleting the icons?
  6. You really can`t do anything with it as the speed depends on the read / write capacity of the chip inside it...
  7. a ) You`re welcome b ) Yep!
  8. Just follow my instructions in my previous post and *fingers crossed* you'll be fine.
  9. From you picture it looks like you are running a beta version of Service Pack 1 which indeed has an expiry date. Uninstall it and install the RTM version.
  10. What does Task Manager say about this? Any unresponsive programs?
  11. Could you please post a screenshot? But make sure you somehow block the activation ID on the bottom of the screen (edit the picture in Paint or something...)
  12. That is the problem. When you do a clean install, you MUST put in a key that matches the Vista version you want to install. Good luck!
  13. *OT: I should really read more carefully the posts * When you installed Vista, did you use the key located on the Certificate of Authenticity at the bottom of the laptop and chose the correct version of Vista?
  14. I will try the pidgen trick ... I´ve tryed the last build 3300 PT-BR ... and didn´t accepted ( just with pidgen ). But the last 5503 leaked build worked just fine. I think RTM will work without problem. ( I Hope ), cause change keys over 30.000 computers will not be cool. Just wait for the RTM... I don't dare to install a beta package on a production machine until it RTM's and thorough testing on a spare / virtual machine.
  15. There's no need to create a bootable disk since the original media IS bootable. EDIT: Welcome to THE forum!
  16. Uninstall the card in Device manager, remove it from your system, restart and use Driver Cleaner to wipe its drivers.
  17. I had a look at your last minidump (dated 19.03.2008) and windbg says: "Probably caused by : ntkrnlpa.exe ( nt+a9ef2 )". At this point I would say to disable all non-Microsoft start-up items using Autoruns and uninstall any software that install kernel-mode drivers (antivirus, firewall, etc.) and see if the issue happens again. Anyway, I'm sure cluberti can give you an authoritative answer on this, just wait for him to have a look at this thread. EDIT: I forgot to welcome you to THE forum!
  18. Device Manager ---> Network Controllers ---> your NIC ---> properties ---> power management and remove the mark on "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Try this and come back if it worked. Good luck!
  19. @jessicalbustos I had a look at your hijackthis log and marked with >> << the items that seem dodgy (to say the least). Run hijackthis again, mark these entries and click the "Fix Selected Items" to get rid of them. Good Luck! hijackthis.txt
  20. The key needs to match EXACTLY the version you have installed. In your case I'm afraid you will have to reinstall. Good luck!
  21. By looking at your dump, it seems that MSPCLOCK.SYS is the culprit indeed. It is a generic driver for "Microsoft Streaming Clock Proxy" , so I guess something has messed with it... Anyway, cluberti will give you an authoritative answer on this (I'm just a n00b at reading crash dumps ).
  22. I'm afraid your wish won't come true... Seeing that its kernel is based on Vista
  23. We were talking about XP But thanks for putting that up
  24. On my machine I had 3582MB of RAM shown in Computer Properties (the DVB satellite card was and still is identified in Device Manager as a network controller). That was when I was running the 32-bit version of Vista and had only 4GB of RAM, now I see the whole amount of 8GB
