Has anyone fixed the problem of the missing image? I execute CDSwitch early in a RunOnceEx install and it's the only item that removes the welcome screen and reveals the RunOnceEx window. I've found that this problem only occurs when cdswitch causes this screen switch. When I used to execute it mid way through an install I had no problems. I've tried adding the cdswitchback.gif to system32 with cdswitch.exe and I've tried using the /p switch but neither fix this problem. The only cure I can think of is executing a command before cdswitch to remove the welcome screen but I can''t find a useful command. Has anyone got any suggestions or Nanaki, is there something that can be coded in to cdswitch to fix this problem. If I find a solution myself I'll post it here but I'd appreciate some help. Cheers

Has anyone got a good command for revealing the RunOnceEx window at first logon. The reason I ask is I run a set of commands* prior to using CDSwitch to swap DVD's (I have a multiboot disc and a software disc) but none of them seam to reveal the window. When CDSwitch is finally ran the "please insert next disc" image is lost betwean the welcome screen disappearing and the RunOnceEx window appearing. I know this is more of a problem with CDSwitch than RunOnceEx and purely cosmetic but it's really starting to annoy me . Proverb: You learn something everyday I agree this is just a pain in the a** way of doing things! I still can't see the point of having a single source when you've got utils like CDImage. You might aswell have two boot options,it's not that difficult to update two! Or am I missing something? -

I havn't done this in a while but I'll give you a guide of my own. Here goes: * = the name of your app. Make a new folder on your desktop called *_Addon Inside it make a folder called svcpack and a file called entries_*.ini. Put your switchless installer inside the svcpack folder. Open your entries_*.ini and past this into it. [general] builddate= description= language= title= version= website= [EditFile] I386\SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram [AddProgram] You can now fill it out as you see fit, the important bit is the name of your installer which must appear after [AddProgram]. Here is an example from a Firefox addon. [general] builddate=05/02/2006 description=Mozilla FireFox 1.5.0.3 language=English title=Mozilla FireFox version=1.5.0.3 website=Created by HyPo [EditFile] I386\SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram [AddProgram] ffox1503en.exe Now all you have to do is cab it and duplicate the process. I suggest CabTool for ease of use. Finally integrate all your addons into your source with the RVM Integrator. One thing to bear in mind is the install order as the windows setup will read through the svcpack dir alphabetically installing your apps as it goes. I put a Z infront of all my installers names so they appeared after the hotfix updates. I also added a second Z for my internet security stuff so that it installed last. WinRAR or 7-Zip is good, it's just that 7-Zip is free to every one. Heres a lil linky to a tutorial at ryanvm.net about making cabbed installers for use with the RVM Integrator, Just read Aserone's post half way down. The Idea is to have all your installers as seperate addons (you could make a one-for-all addon but I found it easier to have individuals) the integrator will make all the amendments to dosnet and txtsetup for you. As I said before this is a big task and I should have said that your gonna have to learn abit about addons for your T-13 install. They just make everything so much easier to manage. I know I keep harping on about ryanvm.net but it's the only place around to learn about this stuff, well that I know about anyway! Cheers. -

Well personally I think you need to take a look at the Switchless Installers Addon Packs forum at ryanvm.net and the How To Make A 7-Zip Installer topic here. I used to install all my apps via svcpack using switchless installers addons (before I started my multi-boot disc, now I need two discs) and these places helped me the most. You'll also find tutorials about this in the forums at ryanvm.net. As far as the "using the same Source" bit goes, it's not possable your gonna need two boot folders, two setup folders and two boot sectors two acheve your goal. One with your standard setup and the other with your T-13 software setup. Your taking on a big task here (trust me I've done it). First learn about multi-boot discs then move on to the software setup, it'll make your life alot easier. Good luck. -

Short answer... no. you're gonna need two complete windows setups on the disc e.g. PRO1 and PRO2. If you need to reduce the size of the DVD use CDImage. The best thing I can do is point you to the guide. It has all the information you'll need to do this! You could also check out the forum here if you need more help. Edit: I've just noticed the guide page is down I'll try to remember to add the PDF version to this post for ya. At the mo MSFN seem to think I've exceeded my limit for attachments. Don't think so since I don't have any on any other posts -
Winnt32.exe /makelocalsource does the same but I suggest checking out Winnt32.exe /? cos I'm not sure if you can use your $OEM$ folders from hdd. Not sure if this helps but good luck.

@5eraph Thats abit severe. I'd say change your ISP! I feel sorry for the open source venders using torrents for distribution. ISP's like that are just stunting whats essentially a good peace of tech, even if it does need abit of cleaning up. -

@RogueSpear Fair enough but theres got to be a way to tap that resource. I have no suggestions cos I don't know enough about the whole process but I'm sure it's possible. If anything it could be a good back up for occasions like this. Just a thought anyway -

I second that, I'm sure your packs are popular enough for it. Besides if you need seeders I'm sure there's enough people here to oblige Check out the blistering speeds you get when you download Knoppix via BitTorrent. Beats server downloading any day! -

Sorry, none . I was really adding to wolfh3art's answer to tguy, I should have been clearer. I think i can awnser this one.... Just FOR FUN!!!! All I ment was I've added Windows for Workgroups 3.11 to my multi-boot DVD. I have to admit that I've only tested it running in VMWare sat on top of MS-DOS 7.10, it works so I'm not complaining.

Why don't you just integrate WMP 10? Check out RyanVM's WMP 10 Addon. Whilst your at it you could pick up the rest of it as addons as well. Except Office of course! Don't forget the hotfix update either. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Ok, I've finally worked this out so I thought I'd put the final nail in this coffin! My method is basicly the same as thuun derboy's (much thanks) but turned on it's head. @ZileXa as I said before I agree with you about the restarts. I've just started using CDswitch cos of the amount of stuff I install in one hit and I've never encountered any problems because of it. Grouping is all well and good and the vast majority of people probably use this (I did) but that doesn't answer the question of a WPI style install though. I was going to try out seperate commands executed after each other... ...but I've found this makes little difference (apart from many .cmd files) from a single list. I'm not trying to say my way is THE way here cos all circumstance are different and I appreciate others input but this is the way I do it. So, if anyone wishes to run a RunOnceEx install, from CD/DVD, at first logon (not T-12) with a WPI style component install this is how I'm doing it. This IS a two part afair consisting of one RunOnceEx command executed at T-12 via cmdlines.txt which in turn executes another at first logon. Windows will read from the registry all the previous values added (ADD REG). This process will continue until the end of ROEx_2.cmd is met. Ok thats it, I know this probably sucks eggs abit for all of you who are in the know out there but this might help someone else waste time make pretty, WPI style, RunOnceEx boxes like me. Peace. -

Now you know why I added to this post! I must admit you are right, rebooting doesn't matter and I wasn't planning on having a two part runonceex install anyway. As far as grouping goes, I was doing this already but I then started playing with WPI. I like the way it does a catagory install and just wondered how it was done, and weather it was worth implimenting into my existing RunOnceEx. At the moment it's running at T-12 cos of this rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess and that ain't when I want it run. If there isn't a simple way of doing this then don't worry about it, I'm thinking of switching to WPI after the next release anyway. Cheers. -

Been a while since startin this thread but I've only just got round to properly implimenting this and I have another question. How can I use this for the end of install i.e. one runonceex.cmd. Should I just add as an add reg command?Also, can I still add titles for each box, if so how? The only other idea I had was to add ROEX.CMD as a reg in a previous RunOnceEx.cmd executed at T-12. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks. -

Thanks, it's just so that system updates are installed first and internet security last. Plus the catagory install looks nicer.
