  1. I just came across this (shameful) page and there is an interesting link to a few free pdf readers in the 3rd post.
  2. It should be listed in the characteristics of "the" notebook, along with the amount of RAM, the type of processor, the size of the hard disk... Sorry, but giving no info at all on your notebook, there is not much we can tell you. More than often, the letter "b", "g" or "n" is included in the very name of the wireless card. You can also check the properties of the card in the Device Manager ("Hardware" tab of My Computer's Properties) to see what modes are available (advanced).
  3. What a coincidence... a "new member" to the rescue. Search brings this old (locked) thread.
  4. We can understand your motivations in ignoring nLite's legal agreement at the same time as requesting help with that, but it still doesn't make your point valid. As Kelsenellenelvian very gently said, other tools exist to do that. Also ask your boss if your workplace has any policy regarding EULAs.
  5. It's all already there, in MDGx's post. Can you please describe your problem "installing window xp with usb keyboard", if any ?
  6. We know OOBE is needed for activation, but I'm nor sure IE is needed for OOBE (which you don't need as such if I understand). So I don't know what is your problem exactly. Reading the big red bold message up your screen might also help. If your machine is running since less than 30 days, it shouldn't be such a problem remaking your install CD ? edit: The wpa.dbl is an old trick, I'm not sure it still works after SP2. It only works with repair install anyway (formatting changes the volume's serial#).
  7. It is a problem -at work, because nLite is for personal use only, no commercial use. -at friends because that Dell OEM disc can legally only be used on (Dell) OEM machines (and yes, "personal use" also applies).
  8. What's your working directory? There are some problems reported when using too long names or putting everything on the desktop. Do you get the Make ISO button or does it crash before that (or when you click it) ?
  9. Sabjeev18, you may have noticed that your 1st thread was moved to the "unattended" forum. Please post in the right forum as this is exactly on the same subject. Otherwise people have to move thread across forums to keep it tidy (and they are not paid for it). Thanks for them. I think the simple presence of "Winnt.sif" causes the unattended mode and that means no EULA displayed. Other people might have a workaround.

    drivers

I searched for "Cyberblade XP Ai1", the driver is called s18274vidx.exe. Link was dead... Again from any search engine, find it elsewhere, here for instance on Toshiba's site (in the 4th post): http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=164831 Next time, giving the model of your Toshiba laptop seems as a basic info.
  11. I just read about this shareware (link to reviews) this week. I never tried it because I don't feel like I need anything like it but unless someone comes with an easier solution (or 5eraph's last advise applies) you could check it.
  12. Be worth it as "make a difference in speed", yes but money wize, if you just need more storage, I'd consider an external drive.
  13. use the key that's in an answer file (.sif?) on the original CD (or get it from a running machine that's installed by Dell with that version of the preactivated OS).
  14. There is no "nLite" administrator password. If you didn't change the settings, your XP is behaving as the XP you started with. -either there is no password (blank) -or the password is kept from a previous modification (but I can only guess that you start with an original disk as you don't provide much info and I can only guess you overwrite the "unattended" settings as you don't provide your Last Session.ini as requested in bold red up your screen) -either you have XP Home which only allows logging as Administrator in Safe Mode (again, this is MS, not nLite's fault) but again you didn't say which flavor you're installing. In that case, you can still set up your network with your other account which should have admin rights.
  15. at what point exactly are you locked ? entering key and such ?
  16. External track pads like this ?
  17. Are you talking about nLite ? (How would we know) For thzat you need to have SP3 and some report that you need to splipstream SP2 before SP3 to have that feature. I never tried it. This thread should be moved to the nLite forum and you should attach (not paste) your Last session.ini file.
  18. Did you try leaving the Theme service on Default rather than Automatic ?
  19. Unless you use "Boot Manager" and Ranish's special features in MBR, only partitions that receive a number (1 to 4) will be saved to the MBR. This is why here, only 1st partition is saved to MBR. You simply needed to assign number 2 to your 3rd row (2nd and Extended partition) for it to be saved along with all the logical partitions it contained. ... Case closed hopefully ?
  20. If I remember well, ICS should make PC1 act as DHCP, so PC2 and PC3 should be set to automatically receive an IP from PC1. Is this the case ?
  21. From BGInfo's Technet page: Desktops: Selects which desktops are updated when the configuration is applied. By default only the User Desktop wallpaper is changed. Enabling the Logon Desktop for Console users option specifies that the wallpaper should be displayed on the logon desktop that is presented before anyone has logged onto the system. So I guess you changed that option to have the wallpaper for defaultUser modified.
  22. Have you checked the 1st page of this forum ? A thread is called "HOW TO create a fully up to date XP x64 DVD", it might be slightly relevant.
  23. Emails are usually stored in big files (Outlook Express for instance uses a .dbx file for each of your subfolder), so there is a 99.9% probability that the file has been partially overwritten and is unrecoverable. You can still try to recover those files if you have time. What are you thinking when you say "any other ways" (than software to get the data back) ?
  24. What situation do we have ? Have you -used those 2 accounts before (with shortcuts on desktop) on that same OS? -applied image with 2 profiles (and shortcuts) already existing on disk but no shortcut appear when loging ? -applied image with existing accounts but profiles are created at login and desktop directory is empty? What about "all users" and "default user" then ?
  25. I realize I wasn't clear, as usual. The floppy image when transfered to a real floppy (using Winimage, or vfd or other) allows you to boot from floppy THEN emulate boot from USB when the computer's BIOS doesn't have the option to boot from USB.
