  1. Can you post a current list of software? -John
  2. One experiment that you might attempt is to run upx on some of the larger .exe and .dll files to see if this would speed things up even more. This would also decrease your disk footprint. -John
  3. Greetings, This is the first time I have heard of MicrowinX and it seems like a really cool project. I have not been able to read through all 32 pages of this thread just yet so forgive me if this question has been answered already. I am curious if your system seem faster and if so by how much. Also, how much faster does it boot? Thanks, -John
  4. If that doesn't work, I would try creating a BartPE from a Windows 2003 CD or try out the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows. Make sure to build the CD with it's additional driver set (separate download). Good Luck, -John
  5. Wow, the suggestion for FoxIt PDF reader was great! I never heard of it before and it really rocks. -John
  6. I like the WinRAR UI better than the 7zip interface - it just seemed more intuitive to me. Both command-line versions are great. I prefer Winrar's command-line program because of it's ability to have versioning of the same file with in the same archive. There is also a free version for unpacking, called unrar.exe. I was trying to use 7za to create differential backups (it compared a previous archive file and created a new archive file that only included new/changed files) but it kept crashing on me, giving me an internal error and I could never find anything on the 'net about this. After that, I switched to WinRAR. -John
  7. You also might be interested in custom FF builds. For the most part they include compiler optimizations for AMD and P4. Some also include SVG. Third Party/Unofficial FF Builds -John
  8. Hey, this is my first post to this forums! Anyway, Windows XP SP2 comes with a movie program, Movie Maker. If you don't run SP2 you can get it from here... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...oviemaker2.mspx It might not be the best, but it does meet the lower end of your price range -- $0. -John
