Try this take these 5 files BDA.CAB DIRECTX.CAB DSETUP.DLL DSETUP32.DLL DXSETUP.EXE from the latest DX9 for Win9X replace the new files in the old cab files and run setup and it might work. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the update If 98SE2ME installs 747 files for option 1+2 and 69 files for option 3 then most problem are fixed. will these files be added TCPIP.SYS 4.90.3004 NDIS.VXD 4.90.3001 PPPMAC.VXD 4.90.3002 We still have the Install new font feature is still broke. other than that we are on the $

And you can use Xcopy too but The method above is no good if you only have 1 drive. I prefer system restore.
