Batch file can't find installers
IcemanND replied to Patches7o9's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
when you run it manually it is running from the folder in which the installers reside, when running from svcpack.inf it is being called when the relative path is more likely c:\windows\system32 so any executable the bathc would look for it would look in that folder not your folder with the installers. You could solve that problem by adding a change directory command to the beginning of the script. -
Password protect the screensaver without locking?
IcemanND replied to sys6x's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I'm so sorry. The amount of time you will waste trying to find a solution will cost more than the time lost pressing ctrl-alt-del once an hour every day for a year, maybe more like a decade. -
Update your installation cd and burn a new one with sp2 integrated on it then you will have a cd with repair ability and sp2. second, what HAL was installed on your machine when you did the install? What are the specs of your machine? Sounds like ACPI is not fully installed or not fully compatible. Seems to me there was a setting in the power control panel, or was it a registry setting to force the machine to turn off.

Password protect the screensaver without locking?
IcemanND replied to sys6x's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Not sure you can, but I'm curious as to why locking the workstation and having to press ctrl-alt-del is a problem? My users biggest complaint is the 15 minute time limit, they could care less about unlocking and logging in, they want the screen saver up only every 30 minutes or more. -
Leave as they are in the guide, just replace the si3112.sys with viamraid.sys. The numbers have to do with what disk the driver file is found on, where it goes to when copied, whether or not it is compressed, and I don't remember what else . If you use the values given and follow the rest of the instructions it should work without a problem.

What inside the quotes is nothing more than a friendly description. What is in front should be the same as what is after the equal sign in the HardwareIdsDatabase section, and before the equal sign in the SCSI.Load section. I normally use the description value from the Disks section of the txtsetup.oem file. So from the intel driver I used "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver"

Only one I have used other than Adobe's is PDFCreator. Works for everything I need but I don't need anything fancy.

stick it in an xp pro machine and change the permissions that way, or you might be able to do it from a BartPE cd. -
Two things to check: 1. Check the BIOS settings for the SATA controllers between a working and non working system. Also check for BIOS upgrades for the non working system. 2. Do an install of XP from CD on one of the non working systems and use F6 to install the SATA controllers you are using from floppy. I have had some that just really don't work correctly and you have to use an older version to get it to work correctly.

But RyanVM your update ack does not meet his needs. His is looking to install missing updates on already running machines. I wrote a vbscript that does this. I downloaded all of the post sp2 updates I wanted and put them in a folder, then created a csv file containg the hotfix file name and the registry key indicating if it had been installed. then the vbscript would read the csv file and check to see if the hitfix had been installed and if not install it on the machine silently and without reboot and then continue through the list until reaching the end.

It would depend upon what it might require. But it should be able to. Or you can backup the driver files and just use the inf and associated files.

Multiple HALs on 1 ghost image
IcemanND replied to shuttrbug's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I believe it is 1024 characters in the sysprep.inf, 512 in winnt.sif, and theoretically unlimited in the registry. -
I have found that if the Driverpath registry setting is anything more than the default windows\inf then any setting in the sysprep.inf file is ignored. Due to the length limitations of the oemdriverpath string in the sysprep.inf I have started putting all of the paths in the registry.

I'd start with a new toner cartridge. a lot of times they will start to wear out and dump extra toner. Not sure if that printer has one but some laser printers have a density control that can help with problems like this try turning it down.

nobody has any ideas. I knew I was in trouble with this one.
