  1. hmmm... I think you may be missing half the point of the game here. I would agree with the jumping issue, I don't understand that little stutter on landing. If you had a real weapon and tried to fire it while jumping compared to be crouched on the ground, I am absolutely positive you would be less accurate. All automatic weapons suffer from 'recoil', forcing the barrel up and to the right. Your statement that you have fired lots of weapons confuses me, as I have yet to fire any kind of automatic weapon (with the exception of some smaller calibre units), which doesn't suffer from recoil. These are all added for realism, and control of these characteristics is what seperates the casual gamer from the pro 'CPL' players. I personally can't stand CS 1.6 though, but this is due to the high volume of cheaters online. CS Source suffers from its own raft of problems, not least of which are the absolutely appalling 'hit boxes' that the game has. Personally, F.E.A.R. in a darkened room with the surround sound on, or Unreal Tournament 2004 Instagib are much more fun. I also have a fair idea of what I am talking about with this one, having spent a lot of time in the military, and now am one of the main organisers for a LAN gaming organisation in the UK.
  2. Athlon 64 3200 2Gig RAM Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 10 Meg Cable Broadband Runs smooth as silk at 1280x1024 on my 17" TFT, and no lag from my end through the cable connection.
  3. If you are running the Corporate version, then it will all be visible via the management console.
  4. The Licence sticker is the proof of licence, not the physical media used to install. As such, I believe that installation from a borrowed copy, as long as it is the same version you are licensed for is fine.
  5. I would suggest that you throw away the PSU that comes with the case, and purchase an alternate, 'named brand' unit, with more power, as there is a good chance that the bundled PSU isn't really going to cope with the load. 1GB should be enough for what you are listing as main uses, but I would suggest 2GB just for convenience (especially with the graphics and photo-editing). Your graphics card should be fine, but very 'weak' if you ever decide you want to play a game on this machine, would suggest possibly a GeForce 6600GT or something along those lines. You may want to reconsider the CPU/Motherboard combination as well, with the socket 754 about to become obsolete. It will cost you a bit more, but a decent socket 939 solution will last longer.
  6. I used NLite to slipstream SP2 and my SATA text mode drivers into the XP Installation disk. In addition to that, I also included all of the other drivers my PC needs as well, and this has really helped improve the re-install time for my PC.
  7. I'm new to these forums, and I have to say this looks a really interesting project. I regularly refurbish old PC's for charitable donations, and I can see that this would be very beneficial as it would enable older, slower machines to run current applications without the horrendous slow-down that would normally be experienced. I will be watching this project as it develops further. Keep up the good work.
