I also know that you can only add 1 RunAs entry, that why I use NirCmd: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html I'm adding entries this way: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VisualStudio.Launcher.sln\Shell\Open Solution elevated] "HasLUAShield"="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VisualStudio.Launcher.sln\Shell\Open Solution elevated\Command] @="\"C:\\Windows\\nircmd.exe\" elevate \"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\MSEnv\\VSLauncher.exe\" \"%1\"" HasLUAShield adds the UAC shield icon and nircmd.exe elevate let me run with elevated rights. My example shows how to open Visual Studio Solution files (sln) as admin. Because sometime is might be useful to open a project with admin rights.

ok, I see you have issues with the command line. Install this programm: http://code.kliu.org/cmdopen/ It adds 2 new items to the context menu (right click): Open the Windows Explorer, go to C:\temp, make a right click and select "Open Elevated Command Prompt" and run the first command. Wait 30s and next run the second command. Now compress the etl with to a RAR or 7z file and upload it to our SkyDrive, dropbox or whatever you use and send me the link.

The bootDoneViaExplorer key shows the duration of the boot (in milliseconds) until the start of Explorer.exe (desktop appears) Your Windows boots in 59s to the desktop and is completely booted in 91 seconds. There is a 10s delay caused by 2 drivers: <pnpObject name="AFD" type="Driver" activity="Load" startTime="8579" endTime="15062" duration="6483" prePendTime="6483" /> <pnpObject name="SRTSP" type="Driver" activity="Load" startTime="4620" endTime="8379" duration="3759" prePendTime="3759" /> SRTSP semas to be Symantec and AFD = Windows Winsock driver (seems to be related to Symatec). So update Symantec and look if this fixes it. Also the bluetooth service takes 10s to start: serviceTransition name="Bluetooth Device Monitor" group="" transition="start" totalTransitionTimeDelta="10740" update or disable bluetooth. Also Symantec service is slow to start. Norton Online Backup v2.0 also takes 3.6s to start. Next teamviewer service takes over 6s to start. Also the launch of all startup programs takes over 30s: postBootDisturbance="32700" Do you really need all of this Sony applications? Try to disable some with autoruns or msconfig.exe

The superfetch service is still not running, that's why Windows is still slow. All your tuning tools damaged Windows. All those tuning tools are CRAP/NONSENSE. Remove all and make sure superfetch is running all the time.

Now we can add Aero Glass to the list
-
I know. Ask 10 people what they like and you'll get 10 different answers. I absolutely don't like the MetroUI and but others may like it. But the difference is that if you don't like Aero, you can DISABLE it and you're happy. Metro can't be disabled. I'm force to use this ugly crap. And this is the problem. MS tried to force the user to like what a small amount users in Redmond like. And this i wrong. @JorgeA Zorin6 (RC) and Linux Mint 13 (RC) are out. Test if you like one of them. Both are based on Ubuntu 12.04 and get security updates for 5 years.

the boot is much better. Before the optimization it took 55s to boot to the desktop and now it takes 20s. The -1 shows hat you stopped the trace to early, so Windows was not able to capture all data. Always et the 120s countdown tick down completely. Black with blue is bad. That's why Windows took so long to boot to the desktop. Orange and green is now fine :thumbup

yeah, if I still was in doubt if I ever consider using Windows 8, now it is clear. I won't touch Windows 8. Aero Glass was the most beautiful thing in Windows and now it is gone and ruins UX so dramatically :realmad:  I now think the same. Make it is ugly as possible to force users no longer go to the desktop :realmad: Well worth the read. I agree with all of it. They need to fire Ballmer NOW. he should also take Sinofsky, Harrions, Green and the ugly Designers with him.

there still seams to be an issue with Superfetch. Can you upload the latest trace, so that I can look at it?

What Anti-Virus do you Use/Recommend?
MagicAndre1981 replied to DigeratiPrime's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
for me not. Ms removed all important options and over simplified it so much, that the program is useless. MSE is so terrible slow and slowdown Windows too much. -

run those 2 commands xperf /tti -i bootPrep_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl -o 01_summary_boot_start.xml -a boot xperf /tti -i boot_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl -o 02_summary_boot_end.xml -a boot now open both XML files and look at the the following values in both files: <timing bootDoneViaExplorer="100839" bootDoneViaPostBoot="179939" both values should be lower in the 02_summary_boot_end.xml. If not open both ETL files and look at the Ready Boot graph and if both show green and orange the cache was already fine.

the hotfix only applies the Windows 7 RTM and not Sp1 or if you have another update installed which updates the files to a higher version. In this case the update is no longer needed. Your Windows i terrible slow, because you've disabled all speedup mechanism of Windows So, install the Sp1 + the hotfixes from here: next enable SUPERFETCH in the services mMC snapin and run the optimiziation I've shown here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=140262 After you did this Windows boots much faster.

Why Windows Vista (SP1+) is Better Than Windows 7
MagicAndre1981 replied to UltimateSilence's topic in Windows Vista
you can build an unofficial IE 10 with real GUI (IE9 GUI files): http://news.softpedia.com/news/Build-an-IE9-Super-Beta-with-IE9-PP6-and-IE9-Beta-163569.shtml http://blogs.technet.com/b/dmelanchthon/archive/2011/04/12/howto-internet-explorer-10-super-alpha.aspx -
I've already told several times what my issues with metro are. Fullscreen and terrible broken font rendering which causes headache all the time. And in Win7 Sinofsky ignored all feedback and in Win8 the same happens again. I've also installed Win8 on a real hardware to test features like Hybridboot / fast startup
-
Here is a tool which port the feature to Vista/7: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.13 for me it is the opoosite. I have large screens with higher resolutions (1920*1080 and 1920*1200) and fullscreens sucks. I only use fullscreen if I play a game (happens 1 times in a month) or watching a movie. All other times I never use fullscreen. And Metro on such large monitors only wastes space. I only have content in the middle and the is empty sapce on the left and right side. This is UNACCEPTABLE for me.

No, by default it is not activated. Did you have a BSOD and activated it to get better dumps? still the same issue with the roland driver. The SAM.exe ("C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Samplitude_Pro_X_Download_Version\Sam.exe" ) sends some data to the USb device. Try the 1.5 drivers http://www.rolandcorp.com.au/products/productdetails.aspx?p=1166&c=72 You use the 1.0.0 drivers. Maybe this helps. Also try to connect the device to a different USB port which doesn't share IRQs with other devices.

My Window Color is always the same, ProcessHacker is free and works or all Windows version, Defender/MSE sucks and is a huge performance issue causer and the ISO mounting is buggy (no remount at boot, drive number changes which causes issues when installing software which requires reboot). And for this 4 things you pay over 150 bucks? I don't get it, sorry. but Metro is the future according to MS. The old desktop and all technology is dead for MS. And you are bothered all the time with metro (Metro/Aero Mix of dialogs all other the OS).

correct. Windows 8 is crap, bul*****, nonsense for me and my workflow and the second disaster in a row about how MS reacts to user feedback.
