  1. I just tried 5 different programs, all using the installshield installer, the installation folders burnt to a cd with the following syntax: PowerDVD ATI Control Panel ATI WDM Driver DriverLINX Port I/O Driver Nvidia NVMixer foldername\setup.exe -f2%systemdrive%\programxx.log All the programs were installed successfully and the result displayed in the log file was 0.
  2. No! You dont. If the iss file is in the same directory as the setup file, all you need to do is specify the target for the log file using the "f2" option.
  3. You dont need f1 if you use f2. This is what I use: setup.exe -s -f2%systemdrive%\powerdvd.log I install my powerdvd from the DVD and I have all my files packed in a rar sfx archive called powerdvd.exe So when the program runs all the files are first extracted into a temporary directory and then the setup begins. So technically I dont even need to specify the path for the log since the log will be created anyway in the temp directory. But, what the heck? I delete the log files later anyway.
  4. Did you even search before you made your post? This topic has been adderssed before.
  5. Its already been done before. Search the forums for DirectX related posts.
  6. Read again!
  7. Did you check the version of directX after you installed SP2?? Why would someone go about installing Directx 9.0b when 9.0c is already included with SP2?
  8. makecab.exe from command prompt use google to find out more info on makecab.
  9. Extract the MSI file from the setup. Edit the msi file using WinstallLE. Add the registration info in the msi and you can also modify the msi and tell it not to reboot. That's it. You are all set!
  10. Please read this before asking a question that has been answered several times over. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/installshield.htm
  11. Use autoscript.
  12. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=26521 A search helps! Also the isscript engine has to be updated before you install the control center. Look here for more info http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108158
  13. In your extracted files search for setup.ini and edit the section [Languages]. change the default key to whatever you want. By default it is English (United States). [Languages] count=12 default=409 key0=804 key1=404 key2=409 key3=40c key4=407 key5=408 key6=410 key7=411 key8=412 key9=416 key10=816 key11=40a Use the appropriate key for you language and make the changes to the default key and save the file. Also open up the lang.ini file and make the necessary change. [LANG] Language=1033 1033 is default English (United states) - Hex (00000409) For the other keys in the setup.ini here are the hex conversions key0=804 (2052) key1=404 (1028) key2=409 (1033) key3=40c (1036) key4=407 (1031) key5=408 (1032) key6=410 (1040) key7=411 (1041) key8=412 (1042) key9=416 (1046) key10=816 (2070) key11=40a (1034)
  14. What really surprises me is that the **** error 18 crops up randomly.
  15. http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/program...port/winpe.mspx License it from Microsoft.
  16. But then again I fail to see why use 2 steps when they can be combined into one. Use the installation switch from the sfx itself.
  17. A friendly piece of advice - Dont install that crap and install realplayer alternative instead. Much more easier to install realplayer alternative and no junk is installed on your system.
  18. As far as I see there is noting different to be done with nero 6.3.1.20 as was being done with any other versions of Nero. Just continue using the same switches that were used with the previous version of Nero.
  19. I pretty much used the default settings in powerarchiver when I recompressed driver.cab and sp2.cab
  20. Yes!
  21. Your best bet is to install the keyboard/mouse drivers on an existing installation and pull the correct values for the models out of the registry. That is how I did it for my keyboard and mouse.
  22. What exactly did you not understand?
