  1. Funny you should ask, because there's a big thread going about it in the Application Switches forum. I'm personally not touching it, though. Those that install WMP10 will have to install that update afterwards on their own. Whatever floats your boat.
  2. OK, I've just been told about KB887078 for WMP9. That'll be included in the next update as well.
  3. And for the record, I will not be supporting unofficial releases in any way. You're welcome to download what he made, but don't come crying to me if it breaks something.
  4. %12% is the alias for the windows drivers directory. And I'm going to be using "%16427%\Microsoft Shared\VGX" as the path. EDIT: And seriously, do you ever bother to do your homework? You might want to think about how willing you are to support every user who downloads your release before you start cluttering my thread with your releases.
  5. If this SiI issue is not able to be solved, I'd recommend that you just include the RAID drivers, since the Si3112 controller can always operate in RAID mode regardless of whether or not you've built an array on it. That's what I do in my system. I have the Si3112 controller in RAID mode, but I run a single WD Raptor on it.
  6. Yes, nLite patches sysoc.inf by itself, so this issue is irrelevant if you're using nLite. The updated sysoc.inf is only needed if you're manually integrating it.
  7. Go to the Windows Update Catalog. It's linked from the main Windows Update site.
  8. OK, things look good for the sysoc.inf fix for XP Home. Attached is an XP Home version of sysoc.in_ for those of you who need it. Just download it and place it in your i386 directory. Again, THIS IS ONLY FOR XP HOME USERS. Second, yes I'm aware of the KB885932 hotfix. It'll be included in the next release. Please don't PM/IM/email/respond to this thread telling me about it. sysoc.in_
  9. OK, I've had a chance to compare the XP Home version of sysoc.inf to the XP Pro version, and there are definitely differences. I've got a guinea pig who's going to try a different sysoc.inf and we'll see how that goes. If it works, I'll make the necessary changes to my site to accomodate XP Home users. Thankfully, it's very simple if that's all it turns out to be.
  10. I've heard anecdotally of people having problems slipstreaming SP2 over SP1. As for issues with XP Home, I can't personally test it since I don't have access to XP Home. However, none of the updates included are specific to XP Pro, so I can't see why that would matter. Though come to think of it, I could see some issues with sysoc.inf being different for the two. Could you please contact me over IM?
  11. I don't think so, but I'm not sure on that to be honest with you.
  12. You'd have to ask wamatt.
  13. wamatt made an SP2-compatible version of sfcfiles.dll, but I personally ran into some issues when playing around with it and they haven't been resolved.
  14. Run my exes like any other app you'd install during setup. Since you're apparently search-impaired: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/runonceex.htm http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/examples.htm My exes run with no extra switches.
  15. you know it B)
  16. Now why would you assume that? Since you posted the contents of your config file, everything has gone fine as regards to making self-extracting installers. Trying a few applications, I found Resource Hacker to be the only program which didn't corrupt the actual installer when changing the icon. I actually found out about UPX by reading the help file! However since I hadn't used it before, I entered the command on it's own and tried different switches it supports. EDIT: Compressing the actual SFX module, reduced the archive file size to the same as yours. I said that because you were trying to change the icon of my installers and UPX compress the EXE rather than the SFX module like I told you to do. That's a fairly good indicator
  17. no, you can safely remove the folder (heck, you can remove the entire cmpnents directory without any repercussions)
  18. , good luck getting a reply from gosh EDIT: Here's a clue, look at his title
  19. I've found using anything other than Resource Hacker simply corrupts the file, when you change the icon. I too compress it with UPX however I get... upx: jre5.exe: NotCompressibleException I guess that means that it's as small as it'll get (even after using the force compression switch). You obviously have no clue what you're doing. You need to edit the 7zip .sfx file. Try reading the 7zip help on making self extracting archives before doing anything else.
  20. Be warned that if you use nLite to remove Outlook Express, Outlook won't work either.
  21. Open the sfx file in resource hacker and change it. I then UPX compress it afterwards.
  22. , the only difference between what I posted and what's used in my SFX installer you can download is the ADDLOCAL line. I don't install the multilanguage stuff for my personal version, but I use ADDLOCAL=ALL for the public one. So maybe that's causing the problem.
  23. I use this personally: ECHO Restarting... shutdown -r -t 150 -f -m "WindowsXP will restart in 2.5 minutes in order to finish installation."
  24. Were you the same person who also emailed me? . I'm seeing active sending connections as I type this, so I'm pretty certain the problem's not on my end. (In fact, I've had over 1000 successful file downloads from my FTP since switching over to it). IM me and I can send it to you over that.
