  1. well, all I can say is that during the course of making my update pack, I tried adding entries to txtsetup.sif before running nLite. After running nLite, I searched txtsetup.sif for those entries and they were gone. Likewise for dosnet.inf. Take that for what you will
  2. Here's what I use. Don't forget that you need to save the text file in UTF-8 format. ;!@Install@!UTF-8! RunProgram="StartX.exe /WAIT \"msiexec /i jre5.msi /qb-! ADDLOCAL=jrecore,extra IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress\"" ;!@InstallEnd@!
  3. the 7zip SFX installer module runs the exe from the path it extracts to automatically. Just call startx.exe with no path.
  4. Any version of SAV9 will work, it just needs to be updated to work with Security Center.
  5. Thanks for the update. A request, can some non-English users please make a list of all files included in the Lite pack which are English only? I've heard that WU5 and WScript 5.6 both fall in that category. Possibly KB834707. What I'm thinking about doing is just having willing people create different versions for different languages and just hosting the files for them (obviously, it would be their job to support their pack at that point). At that point, I could let the Lite pack be what it really should be - a bare minimum update pack with no frills (instead of doing double duty as both a cut down version and an all-language version).
  6. yeah yeah I'm beginning to think this is just the Sox' year. Ah well, the Cards have yet to lose at home during the playoffs, and the Sox were up 2-0 in 1986 too. It ain't over yet!
  7. , that explains why I couldn't reproduce it EDIT: And I agree with what DisabledTrucker said. Here's the entries needed if you want to add it to your registry tweaks: ;Use Passive FTP Transfers With IE [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Ftp] "Use PASV"="yes"Keep in mind that it's an HKCU tweak, so it'll need to be applied at the T12 stage.
  8. nLite 0.99.1 will do 1-4 for you in one step. (I even say that in my nLite directions) EDIT: But yes, RUN NLITE BEFORE MAKING ANY OTHER CHANGES TO THE CD.
  9. You could always just hide it on Windows Update...
  10. Nobody ever reads before posting here. That seems to be rule #1 .
  11. My pack has nothing to do with the framedyn errors. That's nLite's problem (god, how many times has this been said? ). The INF runs prior to T13, so try again EDIT: On top of that, I just checked my laptop which I installed XP on just a day ago. Guess what, no restore points prior to GuiRunOnce software installation I would really appreciate if people wouldn't post in this thread with unsubstantiated garbage. If you have a theory, test it before posting here, then post when you've verified that the problem was indeed caused by the pack. I get really sick of troubleshooting problems over and over again which end up being nothing but user error. I test every release at least 3 times prior to releasing it, so I'd appreciate if you guys would do the same before wasting my time because you "think" my pack is causing some problem. ESPECIALLY when it's clear you have no idea how/when my pack actually executes!
  12. Is the filesize 0 bytes?
  13. Calm down, RyanVM, this one isn't about MS Java (MSJVM ) . (Not that the Journal Viewer is worth much more ... ) silly typo on my part Force of old habit, I guess
  14. If you edit layout.inf, Windows Setup will die a horrible death. OK, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. Windows Setup will give you an error saying it's unable to copy the security catalog files and won't let you continue. Though nLite patches sysssetup.dll so you can work around that
  15. I wouldn't exactly call MSJVM a "hotfix"
  16. I remember seeing one, once, somewhere, but I seem to have lost it. There are also a few scanners out there that check for vulnerabilities: there are patches for XP, Office, and a few others, and even when Windows Update says you are fine, you may not be. I can't find any of it now, but I'll let you know if I do. Well, given that Windows Update only checks by looking at the Updates registry key, it'd be very easy to fake a successful install. That's why I want to actually test the fixes by looking at testcases.
  17. Yeah, I'm still seeing it. It's not directly in the Accessories folder, though. It's in the Communications subfolder (where it's always been).
  18. I've already passed the MBSA test (I run it as part of my standard testing procedure ). It's still possible I'll put it in there. It's going to be a good series, that's for sure. (BTW, do you know of a page where I can find a testcase of the exploits that were fixed by KB834707?)
  19. Also, I have an impromptu poll. I'm half-considering adding the bootvis tool to the full pack. I personally don't use it, though, so I'm asking you guys if there's significant interest in me adding it. Opinions? (I should mention that it'll add about 500KB to the size of the download)
  20. That's not from me. I have nothing running at the T13 stage anymore. Please send me a PM. Cards in 5. You heard it here first
  21. Thanks for the info. How does MSITRAN work with AIPs?
  22. You probably need to enable passive mode for IE FTP transfers. It's in the Internet Options. Over 100 downloads of 1.0.2 already!
