  1. It sucks that disabling the welcome screen makes the user icon disappear from the start menu
  2. Skywing from Genmay? EDIT: And you might try posting in the correct forum next time. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=88
  3. I'm betting if you wanted to do some 1337 PHP hacking you could do it
  4. I mean, come on. I know the search feature of the forum sucks, but that's no excuse
  5. Are you blind and unable to see the sticky at the top of this forum???
  6. You're already on thin ice with me. Don't push it. (And the sooner you change your version numbering, the better.)
  7. I'm going to laugh if nothing's released today.
  8. I don't think the updates have been released yet today. There are no new security bulletins posted yet, so I'd check back later today or tomorrow.
  9. Calm down there buddy. I'm not saying I never had to ask for help, I'm just saying it's polite to the people you're asking if you've done some research on your own before asking them questions. Being new isn't an excuse for being ignorant. There's lots of information spread all over this place if you'd take the time to look. Do you think you're the first person to ever ask me these questions? Do you think I have the free time to continually repeat myself because you couldn't be bothered to do your homework??? In short, don't waste my time if that's your attitude.
  10. You know, I was doing unattended stuff for nearly a year before even starting my pack. Don't you think you need a tad more experience before you start jumping headfirst into bigger projects? A good start would be reading up on INF editing. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....b9d8dbb.xml.asp http://gosh.msfnhosting.com/infs.htm
  11. First off - I repeat, take the discussion to a new thread. Second - neither. RVMUpPck.inf is the main one.
  12. So, uh, isn't today supposed to be a big patch day?
  13. I was not able to fine a template on your site. The closest I found was how to manually install the XP SP2 Post Hotfixes. Could you post a link to your template or send me a message with the template. If it is the manual installation instructions how do use the steps to make a Windows 2000 SP4 Hotfix pack? Forgive me if I offend you but I have only been working on this project for about 6 weeks and do not fully understand your steps from looking at the manuall instructions. I am not asking you to create the pack. I am just asking for the steps you used to create yours because it works so awesome. Use the INF as a template. EDIT: Let's take the off-topic discussion elsewhere, guys. http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=5
  14. Why not just use my update pack?
  15. Nope. I haven't even taken the time to try and do it (and it's pretty far down on my priority list). I'll probably end up just manually overwriting the files in the Administrative Install Point and editing the MSI to reflect the changed files.
  16. What language of XP are you using?

    Thank you

, freeloaders on MSFN??? NEVER!!!!! Go ahead, ask me how many donations the Paypal button on my site has generated, though I'm betting you already know the answer. kimandsally, don't forget also that this isn't the first thread ever made saying thank you to GM. It'd be kinda redundant IMO to post over and over in multiple threads with no substance other than "Great job!". But that's just my opinion. Anyway, GM knows we all love him
  18. Basically, all my update pack is is cabbed files and an INF with the registry entries normally created by the hotfix installer. If you wanted to make a Win2K pack, I'd say to just follow the template of the SP2 pack's INF.
  19. Your best bet is to use the tried and true batch file or svcpack.inf method. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/installhotfixes_old.htm (yes, the procedure for Win2K should be the same as WinXP) And there's no reason someone couldn't make a Win2K post-SP4 update pack like I made for XP SP2, I just don't have the motivation to do so. (Though maybe over Christmas break in a few weeks if I'm feeling REALLY bored). The bigger issue is that Win2K SP4 doesn't have a lot of newer components integrated into it (like IE6 SP1), so you wouldn't be able to integrate all the hotfixes without a fair amount of hackery.
  20. Part of their silly (IMO) security settings.

    New Hotfix

No, that's a Cumulative Update for IE. Been out for about a month or so.
  22. Great job on the pack, XPero. Out of curiosity, are you planning on maintenance releases as files contained within are (inevitably) hotfixed?

  24. Sounds like you had some leftover stuff in boot.ini. On the root C: drive, you'll see a file called boot.ini. Right click it and choose properties. Make sure "Read Only" is unchecked then hit OK. Now you can open the file and remove the line pointing to Whister. Once that line is removed, save and close boot.ini. That should take care of it.
