  1. Open up the Properties of both your LAN and VPN connections and see the IPv6, uncheck for all and try again. Unfortunately you cannot remove IPv6 - only 'uncheck' it. I had the same problem before I did this! You also need to check the RDP connection - goto the Advanced Tab - and look under Authentication Options - select 'Always Connect even if authentication fails', which is NOT the default value under Vista.
  2. Have you tried disabling/unchecking IPv6 on the VPN/LAN connection to the office? I have found that Vista always tries IPv6 before the traditional IPv4
  3. Yes it does - look under Preferences to add a Proxy IP and Port
  4. The best way is not to disable UAC on Vista - but to run the installer 'as Administrator' by right clicking - works a treat!
  5. Thanks. That's better. Yes it is possible to repair a WindowsXP installation - http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm for step-by step instructions.
  6. Try http://www.vistabootpro.org/ - it'll install under your Windows XP and then display any found Vista Boot Records - if any. Useful app which I have used to remove/repair Vista Boot issues.
  7. Do everyone a favour and turn your CAPS LOCK off. Which Registry Cleaner application did you use?
  8. Many thanks Pgase for your work - it is one of the cleanest themes I've used for XP. For what it's worth - my vote goes for the white flag!
  9. No - afaiaa the target dates still stand: Corporate/Volume/Open available November 2006 and Retail Feb 2007. I installed 5728 and although the installation does appear to take longer than 5600 - various fixes have been implemented, as previously discovered with startup sound etc. One fix I have been waiting for has been done now - in 5600 the vpn would reboot the workstation almost immediately on a connection attempt. 5728 now allows a PPTP connection - with superb performance! Excellent feature which appears far better than XP's equivalent system/setup and control. Also the Widgets work in this build (weather and currency) - and the new 'rev counter' to display the CPU/RAM load is a really nice touch. Some new screen savers and wallpaper have been added with better grouping/classification. On the downside - the Media Centre appears worse - and my Freecom USB DVB stick which worked great in 5600 now works very intermittently and the controls delay badly between screens - but only in the 'MCE' mode. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next build, but bearing in mind that the 'corporate'/'business' features do seem to be getting the focus of attention which is not surprising looking at MS attempt to ensure that the Corporates get their RTM on time! I advise that you install 5728 if you can, just if only to see the latest enhancements and fixes.
  10. You may want to 'x' out the Product Key
  11. Lovely Theme! One thing to consider though - if you rename the msstyles file to Luna.msstyles under the %WINDIR%\Resources\Themes\Luna Royale XPize folder - then Outlook 2003 and Office 2003 retain their 'blue' theme that you get with Microsoft's official themes Royale and Luna. other than that - both simple and effective! Well Done!
  12. What a fantastic and simple tool! I have run and tested on my Windows XP Professional SP2 (32 bit) with no issues/problems. Downloads are nice and quick. Excellent! Thank you!
  13. out of interest what is the regedit for WinXP 32-bit to display a functional Outlook icon on the desktop? thanx
  14. Yes - there are both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows Server 2003 available. Try the latest R2 flavour - you can download a trial from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/default.mspx
  15. Have you tried installing IE7 Beta 2 (this can easily be uninstalled later) to see if this helps?
  16. You'll find that most Widescreen monitors are in fact 16:10 rather than 16:9 used by TV/Plasmas. I have a Dell 24" widescreen - and can highly recommend it as one of the best!
  17. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "SFCDisable"=dword:00000000 Copy and paste the above to a text file and rename with 'reg' extension - double click to apply the new setting.
  18. Fantastic work! Cheers.
  19. I get the same error message too. Anyone care to share a mirror? Thanks!
  20. Ultimate Edition ... for the ultimate Vista experience! B)
  21. @rtK - you are quite correct. Office 2003 VLK does not have an Activation link.
  22. The shell looks great! I have been experimenting with BartPE with RDP for breathing life back into old/redundant workstations and a good/convincing Shell is the secret to user's acceptance! PLS do consider sharing your shell for our group development/testing etc. many thanks!
  23. @Blam-O You mean VirtualPC 5.02 (pre Microsoft)? The latest VMWare Workstation version is 5.0.0 Build 13124
