Importing Registry Settings To Default User
webmedic replied to neophyte's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
yes to add a little maybe green machine is correct and the nice thing of this way thorugh cmdlines.txt is that anything you do is added to the default user and then becomes avaialble to any user on the system. Another thing is to install all your apps from there and do all your cleanup then the first time you boot into windows you are ready to go wihtout another reboot. -
Giving Your Windows Cosmetic Surgery
webmedic replied to b0r3d's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
he he. Was wondering how far you all were on this. I had the custom theme thing going but had not added the boot logo's. I do it a little different but not to terably. I add the themes the same and then use the hacked uxtheme.dll as aron mentioned above. The only thing I think I do diferently is that I dont use guirunonce to get any of this done. I finnaly got it all running durring the first install part without needing to use guirunonce. The inf files are working well now also. I'm quite happy with it all. and i use a little progie called cmdow to hide the command prompt windows durring install. I'm trying to think if there is anything you missed but i can think of anything right now. Well other than small regestry tweaks but those are kind of personal depending on the look and feal each person wants. For me I want a default theme that looks nice under windows xp but I also add few things to the desktop to make it look a little more like windows 98 so others can get used to it easier. all in all thanks for the guide. -

Insert The Disk Labeled Windows Xp Professional
webmedic replied to ceez's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
yes that would be the easiest thing. It's fairly quick and painless and should solve the issues you are having. You dont even want to know how long it took me to hunt this down when I was having this error. LOL lets just say I was at it for a while. -
How Can I Put Any Drivers In Xp Cd?
webmedic replied to The Captain's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
it was explained perfectly above. And well i never really was here while gosh was and I miss him already but at leat I'm back. Now i will say that you had better be very fammiliar wiht the internal workings of the xp install if you want ot add them to the drivers.cab. The other method is much preferable and much easier to do when you have to update drivers fairly often. The drivers.cab method would only be for things that are not updated ever or at least not very often. -

Insert The Disk Labeled Windows Xp Professional
webmedic replied to ceez's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
oh also I kinda miss this place and after poking around I have learned a few more things and have seen a bunch of new poeple contributing. So it looks like things are going fairly smooth here. They will sure have some nasty suprises though doing hte slipstreams like they still are. and you already know about the dx9 thing. -
Insert The Disk Labeled Windows Xp Professional
webmedic replied to ceez's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks. I was thinking about shareing all I learned about slipstreaming but I doubt anybody cares anymore and I saw the way gosh got treated for sharing so I'm just kinda sitting back and letting everybody make thier own mistakes. The install is going quite nicely now though. Well it better be after working sucha a long time on it though. -
Insert The Disk Labeled Windows Xp Professional
webmedic replied to ceez's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
yes but as stated the spi slipstream will add that file so the main thing is that he would need to slipstream his install. I guess though that he could have acidnetaly deleted the file but it is more common that they would not have slipstreamed the install yet. -
Insert The Disk Labeled Windows Xp Professional
webmedic replied to ceez's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
yes you have the setup files for sp1 being slipstreamed but you did not slipstream sp1 into your install. The sp1 installer modifes textsetup.sif and adds files to it that are only in sp1 so if you did slipstream sp1 like you should have then you will get this error. -

Slipstreaming - Please Read and Reply
webmedic replied to Spheris's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I cant speak for others but the current method I use is two but I do believe that methosd 1 is best for space savings. It would also be easier to do. -
Webmedic's Hotfix Script Method
webmedic replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
i'm working on it wiht him now we for the most part have this all resolved. I'm getting ready to do a run through now and will update the htofix compiler when we are all done. When we are dont they should all be registered correctly and the other issues should be resolved. We have still maintained the smaller size. It only adds about 10 megs to the install. -
How to do raid drivers and hotfixes correctly.
webmedic replied to webmedic's topic in Device Drivers
some of the hotfixes as packaged from micrsoft are not packaged very well and are not compatable wiht this script at this time. I'm working with them now to to try and get it 1) down in size so the install is smaller and faster 2) install a little bit different then now so that all the hotfixes show up correctly 3) work in hotfixes like this that have issues. 4) work in other things like dx9 and windows media player. now having said that make sure you have that hot fix in the proper directory if it is and still doeds not work then remove it from the 2 dir for now till we get the potehr issues worked out. I need to state here this is not a problem wiht the script but rather an isue wiht some of hte hotfixes them selves which we are working through rihgt now. -
