  1. everything works fine now. i made an mst file that includes registration info, custom setup etc. the only problem i found is that if i choose to manually selcet file associations the setup popsup a windows to let me choose and the mst can include that...so the thing is to make an mst file and choose to associate all files. after all, a registry file can associate anything you want with other programs.... hope this helps. BTW the syntax to install with the MST file is like this: setup.msi TRANSFORMS=setup.mst /qn /norestart make the mst file with wise installtailor (google it, i cant remember any link)
  2. im planning to use this info: -Program name -Program version -Shortcuts for user -Shortcuts for all users -Start Menu entries -Shortcuts in quick launch -Default installation path maybe i can post all stuff i already have i people can follow with contributions. the other choice is to send me info and i will add it to my original post later. i will stand by for a couple of days to see if someone comes up with another idea or comments on this.
  3. what kind of approach is this? if you want help ask politely, otherwise you wont get anything. i can help you because i dont use advanced searchbar. have you tried using universal extractor? CMenu? and other tools in this forum with its installer to see what kind is it? if not, then search for them and use them.
  4. is that bad? i use J.River Media Center (wich is the best library-player imho) since years ago but im willing to give this a try since iTunes sucks just like WMP10. i believe the other exe, xxexport.exe is for importing previous database so i think it needs to be installed.
  5. Im thinking of making a post to keep a record of shorcuts and paths created by installers so we all can come here and see where are shorcuts located and in wich paths are setups installed by default. this will be helpful since we dont have to install a program normally just to see where it is being installed and where are their shortcuts located. im making a template to post it on the web, but it can be posted here as well. i have paths and shorcuts for almost 50 programs now. let me know what you think of this.
  6. has anyone tried to use /Q with the main original installer? also, do we have to uninstall WMP10 prior to installing 11? thanks.
  7. i believe the option you have to set to 1 in winnt.sif is autopartition=1 for more help, please read unattended guide.
  8. goo to know you get it right now...
  9. just search microsoft knowledge base, im sure the language code for .net frame work setup is there.
  10. nothing on this yet? i will keep trying though. right now im trying to get the msi tables exported and then imported to get a single msi file. will post where i get with this.
  11. well, normally .net framework autodetects your windows language settings and install accordingly. but if you want another language installed then goto microsoft and download multilanguage setup and search there for the LANG switch so you can choose wich language to install.
  12. i have mine updated withouth problem muiz, i dont know whats wrong in your install. have you registered that dll and copy those 2 .sys files to system32/drivers?
  13. i asume that we need to import registration info into registry rigt?
  14. after trying some things, here's the solution to install it silently. as always, i will point the steps required so you can choose to make an installer or to make and sfx archive. 1) Install it normally 2) grab the files under ProgramFiles\Spyware Doctor 3) grab this files from system32\drivers: ikhfile.sys and ikhlayer.sys 4) export registry settings after you configure it your way. export both Local Machine and Current User keys. 5) all done. you now have to make an sfx or an msi installer. the only things you have to do is to copy ikhfile.sys and ikhlayer.sys to system32\drivers and register chilkatxml.dll wixh is in programfiles\spyware doctor. hint: to reggister a dll file use this command regsvr32 /s chilkatxml.dll hope this helps people out. thanks to muiz and sonic for pointing wich files to copy/register
  15. i make msi installers with Caphyon Advanced Installer, its one of the best setup makers out there, but you have to buy it, its not free. to make mst files i use Wise InstallTailor, its free to edit msi files i have a trial of Installer Design Studio from ScriptLogic (im consider buying it, its very good at aditing and repackaging.
  16. im using /q switch after extracting the files and it works very well for me. i also installit from runonceex. hint: many ms programs cant be installed from cd like wmp10, so i copy it to systemdrive and install silently from there. no problems so far.
  17. maybe you can search for intel inf files in the computer to tell if it is intel-based, if you cant find any intel inf file then you have an amd computer. also, you can check if some setup compilers can let choose wich files to install depending on hardware.
  18. also, i think you may need the progIDs keys in the registry to use them in Open With... im not sure, but you should try it.
  19. as far as i know you cant, but im not 100% sure. have you google it?
  20. will try your suggestion, thanks.
  21. you have two options for using sleep.exe in runonceex: 1) copy it to system32 and just call it sleep.exe XX in your cmd files 2) use it along with your setup files are and call it as above, but you have to have sleep.exe where every cmd file is.
  22. is weird that you cant installit just using sleep.exe to kill vsostart.exe i have installed it using this method in about 5 or 6 computers without problems.
  23. let me try tonight and see what comes out muiz.
  24. i already searched and searched but came out empty hands on it im thinking that as we have an AIP we know wich files belong to where path already, so we can tailor a new setup, the only problem is the internals of the msi setup itself in the AIP, this is where im stuck right now. still, i have patience and hope that something works soon meanwhile, any help would be appreciated.
  25. @muiz: have you tried with sleep.exe to wait a few seconds then kill the process? i bought spyware doctor the other day but havent had the time to "play" with silent install for it. @yurek3: the 3 files in your cmd are from a crack? you could be banned if you post that. be aware. i dont have anything about crack-related setups but this forums has its own rules.
