I really wouldent reccomend it Josh. Win2k3 uses NTFS 5.2 and partition magic is not able to hadle it properly...id reccomend waiting for a server based partitioning tool...that is if you want the partition to properly work 100% =Drew

In regards to Win2k3, the upgrade went fine but it was havin issues with the SB512, i changed it out with a Live and it was having a problem with direct soundDxdiag was not detecting the audio without some type of error. But the windows sound service was enabled. When i reformated and reinstall fresh, i could not get the sound to work! i switched the pci devices around and got them all on different irqs but it was still acting odd. Out of frustration i switched back to Win2k pro. For the first day the soun was not functioning, but atleast it was detecting and DxDiag was properly recongnizing it. To fix the problem i took the Live card out and uninstalled the drivers, then i restarted the rig without the card in at all. I switched the pcis all around and installed the live drivers..it has worked since then. All i can think is that the Mobo does a por job of assiging irqs or the sound card is picky on what it shares with. But all is well! But im still waiting for a good Media serving OS! =Drew

what in gods name are u talking about?? Mircosoft???..i think you mean INTEL hehe Also they have been out for some time now...i have been selling them at my retail store for nearly a month. About the price...i think u need to check out price watch cause the 3.0 is still about 50dollers less then the 3200+ =Drew

Ight heres the deal...i was originally runing win2k as the OS for my little media box server. Everything workerd just fine on the thing, i watched movies and played music on it all the time. I was using a Sblaster512. Then i upgraded to win2003 at first i had serious issues with the sound card, so i decided to drop in a live value...it dident work at frist, but i moved around the pci devises and it auto loaded and worked well. But beacse i just updated from 2000 to win2003 (had no room to back all the movies and what not) Later i got another harddrive and back everything up and then did a fresh install of 2003. But to my dismay, i could not get the Live card to work. the car was being detected, but i could not select it as my audio devise. The sound was constantly muted, and i had no way of changing it. Due to mass fristration i reverted back to wi2k. But i still am having issues with the sound! I have loaded the most recent drivers for the card and have done all critacal updates...running Sp3. Im think the irqs have somthing do do with it(the sound, harddrive controller, and vid are sharing irq 11) but there seems to be no combination to fix this! THis is p***in me off alot and i have wasted many hrs on it...the compter is going to be shooting target soon...unles anyone hase some insight. hehe thankx much =Drew

Poll: Which GFX would you buy at the moment?
Drewdatrip replied to Crispy's topic in The Poll Center
I have had numerious odd conflictions in systems i have built with ati cards.Commenly when it woul reboot with the error log it would direct the problem back to the driver itself. Just recently i bult a shuttly X pc with a 3.06 and an ati 8500, evertime i would install norton AV or system tools the system would lock and the screen would fill with junk and i would have to reboot, i tryed many drivers but none would fix the prolem. I droped in a MSI ti4200 and the system ran perfectly. There are also like 5 things u need to install just for the card..and they are like 10-15-mbs a piece. Nvida is one simple download that works well.. My 2 cents -Drew -
Poll: Which GFX would you buy at the moment?
Drewdatrip replied to Crispy's topic in The Poll Center
I dont want any...and its really too bad! I sell and install 9700 and 9800s all the time...but through all my expeience, i just cant stand the **** drivers! They are just terrible. I have had very bad experinces with them in the past as well with my Older Radeon. As for the FX series, i think they are total crapthe 5200 doesnet even out perform my Ti4200 and the 5600 beats it with Dx9 games...but im not impressed. The 5900 looks interesting but the 5800 seems to be a total faliure. I like Nvida for the time being, but they messed up big time with the FX...and if ATI can clean up their act with the Catalyst then they will have the market.. =Drew -
thats very tight looking dood! well done =Drew

Well excluding the new 3gig with the 800fsb...which is 200 quad pumped My point on the matter: When it comes down to it in my mind the 3.06 with 533fsb is about 100 bucks cheaper then the 3200+ and it provideds better performance....and its not even the best cpu... I dont favor intel or Amd..im just tellin straight facts here =Drew

**** Kid! THats some tight s*** good work =Drew

Over looking the fact that they run at different speeds....it comes down to this simple fact... The best Intel versus the best Amd...the intel comes out on top..so wheres the confusion..itel is the best. Amd at one point had the lead in the aspect that they were better for the money According to Price watch The Intel 3.0 8--fsb is $455 and the 3.06 533fsb is $363...meanwhile the 3200+ is $465 You get the best performance and the cheapest price....plz inform me on how the Amd is superior. Dont take me wrong..i like both INtel and Amd for different reason. the 1700-2500+barton are great Cpus they are some deals and they directly compete with P4s and in some cases beat them. I have full confindance in those Cpus for the simpl fact that they can offer a very good processer at a fine price....But when it comes to the best of the best, intel takes the cake, plain and simple. (no flame war intended) =Drew

Sorry to inform you Amd guys but Intel is still on top. In most cases the 3200+ most closly compares to a P4 2.6-2.8 For instance.. Check out the rest of the rewies Here
