That is correct. However, the file does not exist in Windows 7. I have already copied the file from Xp to Win 7. Unfortunately I get 0x8007000D. Here are the Windows Update logs from Vista and 7.
@Dave-H Sorry, I misread. Install this update: http://thehotfixshare.net/board/index.php?/files/file/10247-windowsxp-kb968730-x86-enuexe/&do=download&csrfKey=29a3e5aa142718357fe78f65a0da3da2
Ok, too bad the site doesn't work in Win 7. I have tried everything to fix error 0x80070002. The error also occurs in Vista when Service Pack 2 is installed. Something strange.
I've put a lot of effort into replacing the wuaueng.dll file and adding the regitry entries. Lo and behold, it works. It doesn't actually make much sense to get updates in Vista via the website, but I really wanted to try it.
@AstroSkipper I have a slightly more specific question. I accessed the Windows Update webpage in Vista using ProxhttpsProxy and it works fine. But as soon as I install Service Pack 2, I get the error 0x80070002. The same error occurs in Windows 7 as well.
In Windows Vista/7 and 8 I get error code 0x80070002. It only works in Windows 10. Type the following in cmd:
cd c:\windows\syswow64
regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\wuweb.dll
Btw. Run cmd as administrator!
