  1. For my part, i would consider myself a moderate gamer. I can wait a full year after a game title has been release before i buy it. I'ts cheaper that way and most of the bugs have been patched. I'll play all kinds of game. As long as it's good. I did play online a while (Diablo 2), but not anymore. I'm more of a single player person.
  2. Microsoft = Dictators ? I say, let the consumer decide his/her choice. Developpers included. P.S: J'ai pas vu de gros avantage avec le 64 vu que toute mon stock (app/jeux) est 32. Le WOW64 layer limite toute les trucs 32 a 2GB anyway. Enteka... J'pense de revert au 32.
  3. Maybe not for you. Most people don't read or think first. They make the move, hit a wall, then they complain, cry and ask for help because they failed to inform themselves properly.
  4. PEGGLE ;P Seriously, Take your time choosing for a good game. Read reviews and such.
  5. Heat has a major effect on drive reliability. Disk drives are complex electro-mechanical devices that can suffer performance degradation or failures due to a single event or a combination of events occurring over time. Environmental conditions that affect drive reliability include ambient temperature, cooling air flow rate, voltage, duty cycle, shock/vibration, and relative humidity. Fortunately, it is possible to predict certain types of failures by measuring environmental conditions. One of the worst enemies of hard disk drives is heat. Within a drive, the reliability of both the electronics and the mechanics (such as the spindle motor and actuator bearings) degrades as temperature rises. Running any disk drive at extreme temperatures for long periods of time is detrimental and can eventually lead to permanent data loss. LAPTOPS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO HEAT!
  6. 4 X 1024MB OCZ DDR2-800 Crossfire Edition
  7. Very Happy here using MSI My 3rd MSI board First was K7T266 Pro2-A Second was K8T Neo2-F Now i'm using a K9A Platinum
  8. I looked at the manual and it does neat. But you can only get that feature when using the search box.
  9. So... You want to upgrade to 64bit Vista. You really think that everything is going to be better? After reading this article, you may want to re-evaluate your decision. http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5709 Another good read here: http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2007/10/16/64..._just_the_ram/1
  10. Like the others say, it could be due to heat. Hard drive can get data corruption due to high heat. Try using your latop on an elevated surface so that airflow can pass underneat. They sell special mats for this purpase.
  11. You could take a look here for some info: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...x.php/Main_Page
  12. My suggestion would be to skip the AIW and go for a dedicated card for video editing and on good video card. Exemple: ATI TV Wonder 650 they make it in both PCI and PCIE. Video card, something like an X2600XT or X1950pro. Better compatibility between same manufacturer + better for Vista. Catalyst 7.10 is out and there's still nothing for AIW in Vista. Unless you stay in XP or you use a 3rd party software for video editing.
  13. Use "MSCONFIG" to stop it from loading in the startup tab.
  14. I came across this small program trying to fix a small problem with the "Game Explorer". When i installed Sacred Gold and played it (worked fine), the box art thingy did not update. Then i installed a few more oldies and the same thing happened. Recent games had no problems. So i was looking around the internet trying to find a solution when i got this info from another known forum (Neowin). This guy "Ryan R" decided to make an editor to "fix broken box art and info" in Vista's game explorer. I deciced try out this thing even if it still in beta form. It actually worked! Its not too hard to use either. It's called "Vista Game Explorer Editor" beta version 2.11a. I wanted to share this pretty cool find. http://ryzza007.googlepages.com/vgee
  15. UPDATE: After the bios update and a couple of hours of Installing Vista 64bit with all my software (No games yet!), I am happy to say that everything is working flawlessly for now. Here's a pic that shows The 64bit OS with 4095MB of ram.
  16. A shot in the dark... Try Official Sapphire drivers instead of the Real Catalyst from ATI. I've heard rumors of this nature before.
  17. I am aware of this issue. It was only a test. I will post a follow up when everything is up and running.
  18. Just to make sure, did you plug the 4pin molex that is required for the cpu. I made this mistake once and i had a blank screen also.
  19. Are you using both CCC and ATI tool? CCC should be sufficient. Why mess around with fan speeds. Did you find anything relevent to your problem on Sapphire's site? Did you Email tech support?
  20. I received my 64bit version of Home Premium from M$ the other day. I have Home Premium 32bit (retail) installed right now. I wish they would have put them together like the Ultimate edition. Can't complain too much, i got it in less than a week. Just for the hell of it, i decided to put the other 2GB of ram that i got (all 4GB are model) . Holy bejezzus!! Vista reports 2479MB!!! Wow! I did not expect such a loss of memory. My test is done. This weekend, I'll reformat the entire system and install the 64bit version after a quick bios update. I've got all 64bit drivers ready and made sure that all my software is compatible. Hopefully, i will not run into any issues.
  21. I don't think so. OEM Versions usually need to be purchased along with a new PC. Furthermore OEM copies of Vista are tied to the original PC on which they are installed; you are not legally allowed to heavily upgrade this PC or transfer Vista to another PC. The Upgrade Edition requires that you have a qualifying Full Edition of an earlier Windows, namely Windows XP or 2000. It also requires that you install your Upgrade Edition by booting the Vista install disk into your current version of Window (for verification). Furthermore, you lose your license to the previous version of Windows you are upgrading from, so you cannot use it anymore. You can still upgrade your PC or move Vista to another PC. The Full Edition has no real limitations, it can be installed on a new PC, an existing PC, allows you to upgrade your PC as much as you like, allows you to move Vista from PC to PC without limitation, and does not require any earlier versions of Windows to be installed for verification. This is why it's the most expensive of the lot. Vista can only be installed and used on one PC at any time, and that includes the choice between 32-bit and 64-bit: i.e. you cannot install both 32-bit and 64-bit, only one or the other.

  23. I saw an older poll of this nature, but it seemed incomplete/ So i decide to make an update version with more details. Sorry XP users this is a Vista Poll only. For my part, I'm currently using Home Premium 32bit Retail. Should get 64bit by the mail soon.
