  1. In a Nutshell: github-wc-polyfill obviously is just for GitHub and GitLab - Palefill is potentially for all websites. So, yes it would be better to start using Palefill! kind regards soggi

Maybe @roytam1 can tell what's the difference between Martok's and his version!? I got a blue dot with this version within the add-ons manager, which means it is for Pale Moon / New Moon and doesn't run in compatibility mode (orange dot). No...don't be sorry for the "noise"! New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 (not 55 - despite the higher version number, if I remember correctly) have the latest engines for WinXP (no matter if SP2 or SP3). @roytam1 can clarify that. kind regards soggi
  3. Here it gets stuck at... Latest New Moon 28 20230121 with Palefill add-on. kind regards soggi
  4. No problem, s*** happens... Nice system, but I would prefer Win98SE on it! kind regards soggi
  5. BTW if you need some tools/utilities for older Windows versions (mostly Win95/WinNT4/Win98(SE)/WinME/Win2k/WinXP) or even DOS and some alternative OSes, you can have a look at my website -> https://soggi.org/misc/tools.htm. GreenPad is a text editor (Microsoft Editor / Notepad replacement) and NOT a browser! Have you really had a look at the URL you have posted? kind regards soggi
  6. Be careful with such bogus UAs - they are blocked on some websites, because they are used by many bad bots. Below you can see a small snippet from my .htaccess, a regexp which blocks some unusual and bogus UAs. RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*(;\+|;rv:|\(Chrome\)|\(Windows.*MSIE|\[..\]|Gecko\ Fire|Mozilla\/5.*MSIE\ [2-8]|MSIE[0-9]|MSID|MSIE\ (2\.0|7\.0a1|7\.0b|(9|10).*NT\ 5|10\.6|11)|Opera\/.*rv:|rv:[0-4]\..*Firefox\/([5-9]|..)\.|rv:x\.x|(SV1|x64)(;\)|-)|X\ 107).*$ [NC,OR] Note that no common (valid/legit) UA is blocked! kind regards soggi
  7. Great! BTW once I followed you on Twitter but there was tooooo much anime stuff, so I unfollowed. Not for that, I'm glad to be a part of the (re)distribution of @roytam1's builds! All the browsers, e-mail clients and suites (except the x64 versions) should work flawlessly on WinXP SP2 - you (@johk) just have to have an eye on which SIMD extensions are required (non/SSE/SSE2)...aaaand if the CPU is supported in general (have a look at the FAQ, with a 686 [Intel Pentium Pro and AMD Athlon/Duron and higher] you should be safe). NM28 and Serpent 52 (maybe 55) should be the most compatible browsers, if I remember correctly. kind regards soggi

  11. No, this is not what I would do... So I would have two copies of the same profile(s) which diverge more and more in the future, if I would copy the NM28 profiles to NM27. Or...I would have to copy the profiles always when I want to use the other version - extremely inconvenient. An advanced warning would we good in case of the separation of the profiles would be a final intended decision. There is no other way to satisfy both sides, I think. So you have to change something in one line of four shortcuts (one time only, not every time you're using the other version) - this is much more easier then copying profiles whenever you want to use the other version (NM27/28). You also don't need any .bat to server your requirements. If you want to start NM27 with it's dedicated profile, click the NM27 shortcut - if you want to start NM28 with it's dedicated profile, click the NM28 shortcut. The issue @VistaLover mentioned didn't occur to me in the last years when I was using Nm27/28, as mentioned above - else I wouldn't suggest this method. In conclusion the "shortcut method" I described above is a good deal, I would think. OK, so OE Classic isn't a good replacement for Outlook Express... There are browsers for Win9x/NT4, actually: - K-Meleon 1.5.4 (2022/12/08) - RetroZilla 2.2 (2022/12/08) - RZ browser 2.2 (2022/12/08) "RetroZilla" is a suite (like SeaMonkey), "RZ browser" is just the browser. Of course, their engine (especially when it comes to JavaScript) is aged, but they support TLS 1.2. They are available via @roytam1's blog (https://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/) or via my website (authorized mirror, https://soggi.org/misc/tools.htm). kind regards soggi

You don't have to use the same profile for NM27 and NM28, you only have the choice if you want to or not - and this is what counts because some like you don't and some like me want to. It doesn't matter if both share the same profiles.ini, you can have one profile for NM27 and one for NM28, f.e.: [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=NM27 IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/12345678.NM27 [Profile1] Name=NM28 IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/abcdefgh.NM28 Now just create two shortcuts with the right targets and put them to your desktop / start menu / quick launch bar, f.e.: NM27's shortcut target: X:\..\NewMoon27\palemoon.exe -no-remote -p NM27 NM28's shortcut target: X:\..\NewMoon28\palemoon.exe -no-remote -p NM28 Note the two profiles named NM27 and NM28 - there is practically no chance to open the wrong profile by accident and you don't need the profile manager to start the right profile! Nothing offensive, I just want to help you to get these things sorted. I came into this profile stuff because I'm also hoarding a lot of tabs (hundreds in each profile) and sometimes need a fresh profile, especially when someone is complaining that the browser is sooooo slow. I wouldn't recommend the method, if I would have had any of the problems you described. There were no corrupted profiles and open links from documents always worked like intended - open default browser with the right profile. BTW it's always a good idea to have a back-up! kind regards soggi
  13. You don't have to pick up the right profile with each start - just create two shortcuts with the right targets and put them to your desktop / start menu / quick launch bar, f.e.: target: C:\program files\NewMoon27\palemoon.exe -no-remote -p default target: C:\program files\NewMoon28\palemoon.exe -no-remote -p default2 So you still have a choice, but I don't see a way to circumvent different profile folders and still use the same profile in NM27 and NM28. kind regards soggi
  14. +1 @roytam1 Why not just add the new NM27 profile to the existing profiles.ini and if they have the same name just give one of them another name? kind regards soggi

The first impression counts - so the check of the first word is extremely important! LOL I had no problems using the same profiles with NM27 and NM28 (beside some expected due to different code base). Hm... have to check if this doesn't work anymore now!? I always just replace the program folders. Edit: OK, I just tested NM27 right now and it couldn't access the profile which it's shortcut was linked to before because it now links to ..\Moonchild\Pale Moon\.. instead of ..\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon\.. - see screenshot below. kind regards soggi
  16. Less/cut features, OK. Adds within the application, OK. But adds added to outgoing messages? WTF!? This isn't reputable by any means, especially nowadays - messages/content should always be untouched! kind regards soggi

  18. LOL I don't know why (because I forgot the relevance of the CMOV support issue over the years/decades), but I had CMOV in mind when I wrote the post despite I couldn't allocate my thought correctly. Thx for the recollection. I corrected my previous post with "...Intel Pentium Pro/Pentium II, AMD Athlon (K7/K75/Thunderbird) or Cyrix 6x86MX [those CPUs with CMOV AND w/o SSE]..."! BTW I'll update the mirror of your browser builds on my website with a link to your FAQ post @roytam1! kind regards soggi
  19. Noticed that there is a new build (New Moon 28 Win32 IA32) which didn't exist before and which isn't highlighted especially in your post...so I just noticed it accidentally because there are 21 instead of 20 new files. Now the hardcore minimum XP mates have a new browser which needs more resources. If I had the time, I would test it on Intel Pentium (MMX), Intel Pentium II, AMD K5/K6/K6-2/K6-2+ or Cyrix 6x86(MX) Edit: Intel Pentium Pro/Pentium II, AMD Athlon (K7/K75/Thunderbird) or Cyrix 6x86MX [those CPUs with CMOV AND w/o SSE] from my hardware collection... 21. @NotHereToPlayGames (and maybe some others) - not offensive, but why you're posting all these double/triple/quadruple/infinituple posts and not just click "Edit" and edit your previous post? In case of @roytam1's build posts it's understandable (although not necessary) because of structure. This drives me crazy/insane.... kind regards soggi

  23. First I want to say "Thanks!" @roytam1 for all these new builds released nearly every week and the permission to mirror them on my own website! Can't remember when I did that last time... Your work is really appreciated by all who are writing here and additionally a lot of silent users! And not to forget "Thanks!" to all supporters and contributors! Second Sorry for posting a bit late, I'm still worn out by SARS-CoV-2 - nothing really bad, I'm just some kind of exhausted/sluggish. Third The mirror of latest ArcticFox 40, BNavigator 0.9, Firefox 45ESR, IceApe 52, IceDove 52, K-Meleon 1.5.x/74/76, MailNews 52, New Moon 26.5/27/28, RetroZilla, RZ browser and Serpent 52/55 builds by @roytam1 has been updated -> soggi.org - tools. changelog: - added latest BNavigator 0.9 20221126 build - added latest IceApe 52 20221126 build - added latest IceDove 52 20221126 build - added latest K-Meleon 76 20221126 build - added latest MailNews 52 20221126 build - added latest New Moon 27 20221126 builds - added latest New Moon 28 20221126 builds - added latest Serpent 52 20221126 builds - added latest Serpent 55 20221126 builds To don't lose track of things I want to update too someday... todo: - add various flash player versions - add FlashFix for WinXP - add VLC 2.2.8 (WinXP non-SSE2) - add polyfill addons ------------------------------------------- I don't have this backspace problem myself, just thought that this input may help someone!? I have this "YT problem" too, but thought it is related to latest hot s*** YT uses to render the page. But nevertheless YT still works...yeah it's extremely slow, I know. After doing a reconnect to my ISP I got an IP from a completely different IP range and could connect to the former FTP with WinSCP, the ladder still fails. So my IP (range) was the problem, it just has been blocked. This FTP is very old, has a lot of important files and I don't know how long it will be available in the future. So I begun to mirror the two directories which are important to me (/pub/Hardware/stuff/ and /pub/Hardware/vendor/) - still not finished (11.7 GiB until now), if I get 50 kb/s I can be really happy (the FTP is the slow part, not my internet connection). But nevertheless: Thank you, I really appreciate your efforts! BTW Welcome back! BTW2 I would recommend WinSCP instead of FileZilla. The latest version (portable) still works under WinXP and up - you can also install WinSCP 5.15.9 (XP) / 5.17.5 (Vista) and replace the executable with the one from the latest portable version (actually 5.21.6). kind regards soggi
  24. I don't know if this is related, but today I noticed the following in the release notes of latest Pale Moon (v31.4.0) from 2022/11/22: kind regards soggi
  25. Let me just add one closing/final OT post: @all: Thanks for your wishes! @AstroSkipper: I wish you that you get rid of the permanent coughing soon! kind regards soggi
