Is it possible to install Windows XP on a Surface Pro 6?
GD 2W10 replied to GD 2W10's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
Yes it does. Yes that is what I meant. -
Hi, I have an SP6 running Windows Server 2012 R2. I have not been able to get Windows 8.1 or 7 on there. My Surface Pro 6 has a Kaby Lake proccessor. Would it be possible to install Windows XP on a Surface Pro 6? I know that this is not straightforward and I would need to install XP x64 on a NVME VM with NvME drivers, copy files from Vista Build 5219, change the boot mode to UEFI, and backup and deploy the VM with Macrium Reflect. I am also going to post something similar on the Windows Vista section.

Hi, I have an SP6 running Windows Server 2012 R2. I have not been able to get Windows 8.1 or 7 on there, but I heard that there was someone who ran Windows Vista on UEFI on a Skylake proccesor. My Surface Pro 6 has a Kaby Lake proccessor. Would it be possible to install Windows Vista on a Surface Pro 6? I know I would need to deploy the image with imagex on a Windows 8/10 PE, also install graphics and NVME drivers, and enable the Aurora boot screen. I know that network will not work. I am also going to post something similar like this on the Windows XP section of the forum.

Windows Vista x64 on Skylake with Easy2Boot?

I can't rly give you the info because idk how to do that. Also if those options I listed don't work, try installing Windows Vista with WinSetupFromUSB. Do you have a NvME hard drive? You can also try installing Vista via diskpart, imagex, and bcdboot. Boot a Windows 7/8/10/2008R2/2012/2016/2019 PE, and install Windows Vista with dism, imagex, and bcdboot (if you use anything later than 7 or 2008 R2, you will have to copy imagex over to 8 or 10). -

Windows Server 2012 R2 on Surface Pro 6 not detecting networks.

That is the one I tried, I tried that one again, and I got the same error, "The system cannot find the file specified.". -
Hello, I have a Surface Pro 6 and Windows 8.1 did not work on there, so I installed Windows Server 2012 R2 (which is the server version of 8.1). I have tried to install the network driver for 8.1, but I get an error saying "The system cannot find the file specified". Snappy Driver Installer did not detect the driver. Here is the hardware info: PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_2B38&SUBSYS_045E0008&REV_00 PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_2B38&SUBSYS_045E0008 PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_2B38&CC_020000 PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_2B38&CC_0200 PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_2B38&REV_00 PCI\VEN_11AB&CC_020000 PCI\VEN_11AB&CC_0200 PCI\VEN_11AB PCI\CC_020000&DT_0 PCI\CC_020000 PCI\CC_0200&DT_0 PCI\CC_0200

I installed Vista by using E2B. I do not know if Vista works on SkyLake, but there are a few things you could try: 1. Install Windows Vista via Easy2Boot 2. Install Windows Vista in a Legacy VM, then deploy it with Macrium Reflect. -
Is it possible to run Windows 2000 on a Dell Inspiron 15R-5537
GD 2W10 replied to GD 2W10's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I have tried one of BWC's drivers and the Uni-ATA drivers, but I still get an error. I also tried to install W2k setup files on a VM then backup the Windows 2000 installtion and restore it on my Dell with Macrium Reflect. It freezes on, "Starting Windows". Are there any other Universal AHCI drivers? Or could I try an unattend installation of Windows 2000? -
Will we able to do it now since Win32 is making the extended kernel for Vista?

Tried it with just SP5.1 integrated and also SP5.1 + two different drivers integrated separately. It loads devices much faster with WinSetupFromUSB but I still got a BSOD with 0x0000007B. -

I tried many ISOs with a lot of different drivers and USP5.1 integrated. I even used some unofficial XP AHCI drivers for my Dell from drp.su. I even integrated BWC's kernel extension. They just all end up with a BSOD with 0x0000007B while booting into setup. -

I don't think it is a bad iso because I have been able to install Win2k on a VM with that same ISO I downloaded. -

Tried a W2k iso with USP5.1 and Fernando's drivers (some directly from him and some from Endermanch) on a VM with Windows 8/8.1 compatibility mode. When I select textmode, it gives me an error saying one of the files is corrupted. When I try regular pnp mode, I get a BSOD with 0x0000007B. Did it on a VM so I would not waste time rebooting a lot. -

I found a unofficial sata AHCI driver on BWC’s website. I slipstreamed that and Unofficial Service Pack 5.1 into my SP3 ISO. Then I burned the ISO to the CD. When I booted from the CD, I press F5 and F7. Then it tells me to choose what type of PC I have. I selected ACPI Multiprocessor PC. It then loads devices at a very slow speed then gets stuck on “Setup is starting Windows 2000”. I waited for about nine minutes then shut the PC off. Edit 1: I tried choosing standard PC, however, it freezes on “Setup is starting Windows 2000”, and then I get a BSOD with the error “INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE” Edit 2: I tried choosing ACPI then I got a BSOD with the code 0x000000A5. Edit 3: I pressed F7 when setup prompted me to press F6, but I still get the BSOD with the error 0x0000007B. Edit 4: I have tried every single options and it either freezes or gives me a BSOD with 0x0000007B. -
