  4. A sun halo, sundogs and more.. Photo by Martin Male. Martin Male of the city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, Canada, captured this amazing photo on September 4, 2018. He wrote: That was one awesome sun dog and sun halo all in one. In addition there was a ring around the top of the sky. Thanks to Eugene for sending me a text letting me know that it was out there. For those who are interested: These are all standard ice halos and arcs, a pretty awesome display of light. From top to bottom, you can see: an upper tangent arc (above the halo), parhelic circle (horizontal arc through the sundogs), a 22 degree halo, sundogs (parhelia), and finally, infralateral arcs on both sides that look like rainbows. Depending on the position of the sun and the shape/size/quantity of the ice crystals, you can get even more or different arcs and halos. Martin clearly knows a lot about sky optics! The chart below – from the great website Atmospheric Optics – labels the parts of a scene like the one Martin captured. Sky optics expert Les Cowley of the website Atmospheric Optics has this image on his frequent halos page. It shows you some of the features in Martin’s photo at the top of this page. Pictured at the far right of this illustration are various kinds of ice crystals, which are what cause halos and related phenomena. 5. This is what the HAARP PULSE actually looked like... And more amazing icy phenomena... Your daily dose of natural disasters and amazing phenomena for December 28, 2022... Strange Sounds 12 hr ago "Ping" Wait 2 seconds. "Ping" Wait 2 seconds "Ping". That's what most ham radio operators heard yesterday when they received HAARP's radar transmission to asteroid 2010 XC15. Scott Tilley of Roberts Creek, British Columbia, took a closer look..... Everyone who picked up the pulse did so because Earth's ionosphere reflected some of HAARP's radio energy back to Earth. Only a fraction escaped into space and reached the asteroid. Tilley's high-time-resolution recording of the pulse shows that multiple reflections (probably with a dash of ducting and refraction) were involved. The complexity of the ionosphere, and how it modifies shortwave signals, is a key challenge for researchers who will be processing radar returns from asteroid 2010 XC15. Good luck! This appeared in the sky of the Lofoten Islands, Norway at around the same time… WOW! By Lukas Moesch… HERE: https://strangesounds.substack.com/p/this-is-what-the-haarp-pulse-actually

  13. Jupiter's moon EUROPA EUROPA Dark material inside Europa’ cracks © NASA "...With its oceans under the icy surface and the relatively young geological activity Europa has also some intriguing features seen from space including the outline of a dark red streaks found along cracks. These dark ‘drawings’ have puzzled scientists for decades, wondering what are they. A particular theory considering that these colors come from interactions with sulfur and magnesium on the moon’s surface. But today, the space agency has just issued another hypothesis on the mystery dark material: it could be common sea salt! The salt in question come from the subsurface ocean, discolored by exposure to radiation. The researchers created a simulated patch of the conditions on the surface of Europa including surface’ temperature (minus 173 ℃) and have used it to test various substances that could produce the famous dark colors. These materials were subjected to intense radiation, like that from Jupiter’s magnetic field. After hours of exposure to this harsh environment, salt samples took on a yellow-brown coloration and measurement of their light spectrum showed a strong resemblance to what is seen on the frigid surface of Europa. This work tells us the chemical signature of radiation-baked sodium chloride is a compelling match to spacecraft data for Europa’s mystery material Said Kevin Hand lead author of the article. The color variations depend on the time of exposure to radiation, it could also help to determine the age of material observed on Europa. If it’s just salt from the ocean below, that would be a simple and elegant solution for what the dark, mysterious material is...." Here: https://www.cosmosup.com/jupiters-moon-europa-has-no-shortage-of-salt/ Big picture here: https://newsrnd.com/news/2022-12-27-nasa-boss-sees-"significant-chance"-of-finding-extraterrestrial-life-and-relies-on-jupiter-s-moon-"europa".S1zzVCDdtj.html ...and better image here: http://www.educatinghumanity.com/2014/06/does-man-have-will-find-alien-life.html Jupiter’s moon Europa is, with just over 3,100 kilometers (1,900 mi) in diameter, slightly smaller than Earth’s Moon. It is the sixth-largest moon of Jupiter, and the smallest of its four Galilean satellites but nonetheless more massive than all known moons in the Solar System smaller than itself combined. Its density suggests that it is similar in composition to the terrestrial planets, being primarily composed of silicate rock. This moon orbits Jupiter in just over three and a half days, with an orbital radius of about 670,900 km. The moon is tidally locked to Jupiter, with one hemisphere of the satellite constantly facing the planet. However, research suggests the tidal locking may not be full: Europa spins faster than it orbits, or at least did so in the past. Europa’s surface temperature at the equator never rises above minus 160 degrees Celsius (minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit), while at its poles, the temperature never rises above minus 220 degrees Celsius (minus 370 degrees Fahrenheit). Europa probably contains a metallic iron core surrounded by a rocky mantle. Its very bright and smooth surface is striated by cracks and streaks, while craters are relatively infrequent. Dark crisscrossing bands on Europa represent widespread disruption from fracturing and the possible eruption of gases and rocky material from the moon’s interior. Symmetric ridges in these dark bands suggest that the surface crust was separated and filled with darker material. Europa’s crust is composed of an outer layer of frozen water of around 100 kilometers (62 mi) thick, while its induced magnetic field suggests the presence of a subsurface layer, likely a salty liquid water ocean. The apparent youth and smoothness of the surface also suggests the presence of a subsurface ocean, which could serve as an abode for extraterrestrial life. Unlike on Earth, this ocean is deep enough to cover the whole surface of Europa, and being far from the Sun, the ocean surface is globally frozen over. However, because Europa’s orbit is eccentric, the tide is much higher when it is close to Jupiter than when it is far from Jupiter. Thus tidal forces raise and lower the sea beneath the ice, causing constant motion and likely causing the cracks. The heat energy from the tidal locking causes the ocean to remain liquid and drives geological activity similar to plate tectonics. This tidal heating also causes Europa to be warmer than it would otherwise be at its average distance of about 780,000,000 km (485,000,000 miles) from the Sun. The warmth of Europa’s liquid ocean could prove critical to the survival of simple organisms within the ocean, if they exist. Europa has a tenuous atmosphere composed primarily of oxygen. Research suggests that there is also plenty of oxygen available in its subsurface ocean to support oxygen-based metabolic processes for life similar to that on Earth. In fact, there may be enough oxygen to support complex, animal-like organisms with greater oxygen demands than micro-organisms. The primary ingredients for life are water, heat, and organic compounds obtained from comets and meteorites. Europa has all three. Could life have formed and even exist today?.... Description from: http://annesastronomynews.com/annes-picture-of-the-day-jupiters-moon-europa/ Europa, Jupiter’s moon full of alien life! “When it comes to the prospects for life beyond Earth, it’s almost a certainty that there is life under the ice on Europa,” said Monica Grady, professor of planetary and space science and chancellor at Liverpool Hope University in the UK. "I think we have a better chance of having slightly higher life forms in Europa, perhaps similar to the intelligence of an octopus. If life were to be found in the oceans of Europa or Enceladus, it is very likely that it is indigenous rather than sown by Earth, Mars or (especially) by another solar system." 15. Saturn’s Moon Enceladus Has The Basic Ingredients For Life Saturn’s moon Enceladus features a warm subterranean ocean covered in ice. In an extraordinary new finding, scientists have confirmed the existence of a chemical energy source within this moon’s water that’s capable of sustaining living organisms here on Earth. Enceladus is now officially the best place beyond Earth to look for life.... Enceladus may be covered in an icy shell, but beneath the surface lies a globe-spanning liquid ocean about 37 miles (60 km) deep. This hidden ocean — which may be as warm as 90 degrees Celsius (194 degrees Fahrenheit) at the bottom — is one of many reasons that Enceladus is considered a prime candidate for extraterrestrial life....
