ok, they're both cable select and still nothing.. odd thing is that the drive does not appear in the device manager, but if i click add hardware in the control panel, it's there.. double click on it it says "this device is working properly". i'm stumped. and ls_dragons, i really apreciate the help!

i do have the 100 gig on 0 and the 20 on 1.. still nothing.

ok, i just got a new 100 gig hard drive. i made my 20 gig slave and the 100 master. i installed xp on the new drive, and it formatted and partitioned it for me.. it used ntfs (it didn't give me an option between ntfs and fat), and my 20 gig is fat32. now, when i run xp, everything works a-ok, except for the small detail that my 20 gig doesn't show up! now, i dunno if you can't view fat32 drives while using an ntfs drive, or whatever. all i wanna do is get the files from my 20 gig and transport them to my new hd. please, please, please.. somebody must know how to help me. :cry

welp, no login screen, just goes straight into windows. only things that load are norton av, mcafee firewall (the norton firewall p***ed me off), and weatherbug. now that i think of it, i bet it's norton.. when it first starts it starts without auto protect enabled.. it doesn't enable it until the same time that internet explorer starts working.

is that why my computer "freezes" (for lack of a better word) when i reboot? when i first boot, i can run certain programs.. like mirc or solitaire or whatever. but others won't work, especially internet explorer. if i click on it, i have to wait like a minute for the browser window to pop up. if this isn't why it delays, anybody know why it does? and more importantly, how in the world do i fix it?

this sucks.. easy cd creator doesn't recognize my burner anymore. i'm gonna stick with nero.

well this sucks.. i tried uploading 14 more themes to my webspace, and it turns out i'd go over the 10mb limit /me cries :cry :cry :cry

i personally don't think that any of them are *great*.. but what can these themers do without stylebuilder. i could imagine using reshack to make these is a pain in the balls. if i had to choose a favorite, it'd have to be either grape canvas or silver blue. they're not too different from the regular luna theme, except for different colored start buttons and close/maximize/minimize buttons.

actually, i'm setting an @home web space account right now, but i still wanna wait for an "ok" from an admin before i post it, since they're not *my* skins, they're just skins i've collected.

i've got 15 skins that can get us started, none of which were made by me. this section is for your *own* themes, but i'm wondering if you guys would make an exception to get the ball rolling. ps: they'd have to be uploaded to here, since i have no site.. unless somebody wants to host them.. let me know.

i'd interpret it as you can fit that many more cds on your system with wma's. but that's just me.

get a cable modem! but seriously, i picked this up on another forum, haven't tried it since i never see a balloon.. 1.) Go to Start : Run : type in: gpedit.msc 2.) On the right pane.. under User Configuration, dbl-click Administrative Templates 3.) Then in the right pane.. dbl-click 'Start Menu and Taskbar' 4.) in the list... theres one called 'Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu Items'. 5.) Dbl-Click that and then select 'Disabled' 6.) click OK and close the Group Policy window and there ya go! --------------------- but! if that doesn't work.. 1.) Go to Start : Run : and type in services.msc 2.) on the right pane .. there should b one called 'Alerter' .. dbl-click it and under start-up type.. select 'disabled'. --------------------- like i said, i haven't tried these, but i hope it'll help.

Run gpedit (C:WINDOWSsystem32gpedit.msc). under user configuration go to administrative templates-> windows components-> windows explorer-> common open file dialog-> items displayed in places bar. configure it as you wish. the places bar is the window on the left side of all open/save dialogs.

check out this article... h*tp://www.theregister.co.uk/content/55/22509.html says that a test from ShieldsUp (h*tps://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2) says that a computer with default winxp firewall settings was "fully stealth". well, i went to that site, and guess what.. my computer was fully stealth with normal firewall settings.. but i wasn't satisfied. so i went to dslreports' port scanning section (h*tp://www.dslreports.com/scan) and, once again, my box was completely safe! i'm thinking of ditching my mcafee firewall. why take up the extra resources (even though it's little to none) when i can use the built-in firewall? could the xp firewall actually be reliable? ^) check out my results in the screenshot below..

i know you can have outlook check for email every # minutes, but is there a way to minimize it to the system tray? am i missing something?

Frst of all.. Can I have a beta?? :-) Scondly.. When the program is released, will you charge money for it? Lastly.. Are you worried about Microsoft getting bent out of shape for "hacking" uxtheme.dll? Anyhow, keep up the great work. I'd love to see more themes available, as well as the first beta of StyleBuilder! -Tim
