click here to fix the refresh rate problem. as far as the flickering goes, not too sure about that. mine does the same thing. although i'm using xp pro with a geforce3 ti 200 128mb ddr. i never paid any attention to it until you mentioned it.

i always use easy cd-da extractor with the lame encoder. works great.

something like this happened to me before. go look in c:documents and settings and see if there's a folder named TEMP. if so, that means that your wife's profile is probably corrupted. all you can do is copy some of her things to another folder. such as: favorites, desktop links, start menu, etc. once you do that, login under your account, delete hers, delete temp, and recreate an account for her. then of course paste all of the stuff you saved into the new account. some things won't be the same like her visual settings and whatnot. hope this helps.
