  1. Clintons justice department went after ms. Think settled out of court for $200 million? Seems to me, ms is justified, giving it back to the consumers... I got mine....so doesn't concern me. Like to fiddle with ms junk, just something to do.... Charl
  2. noticed, Advanced Settings page to "include driver updates.. not present here. Checked gpedit, there is this ...turn off windows update device driver search.... Charl
  3. Have noticed some of my backups, acronis or macrium, do not work correctly. These are win 10 pro backups. my 2 cents Charl
  4. This place I used to work at, still had a bunch of boxes running xp. Charl
  5. some updates made win 10 not bootable, suggested use ISO win 10 installation, select repair selected repair option, fix boot problem, or startup noticed when system did boot, along with partition c:, there was now partition d:, e: win 10 ver 1607 Charl
  6. yes, popular sites have multiple ads now Charl
  7. utube has more bloat than 5 years ago. notice this popular utube site I frequent, may have double ads.. watching that utube video, then their video ad pops up, seems like its just before the good stuff my 2 cents Charl
  8. wonder if its a splash image, or built into boot loader? Charl
  9. notice when windows key is pressed along with number 1 key. edge pops up just my 2 cents Charl
  10. This is typical of Microsoft nowadays.... Notice on a recent build of win 10... Installed office 16 plus. Open onenote, a yellow bar displays across doc , get office 365 now. Sure is nice... Charl
  11. complained about ads on site, couple of days back... seems like a professional is needed to help the site? Charl
  12. I like how microsoft stuff works. Still battery problems with that surface 3, $600 wonder. Email for outlook.com is still scrabled up, some emails never get through. What a company, eh? Charl
  13. Was wondering about that. Thought all that upgrade stuff was now stopped with a recent update. Charl
  14. have several backups of win 10 v 1511 extreme measures of disconnecting my lan seems to be useless gpedit.msc as Noel suggested lets see if it holds could easily go back to 8.1 or 7 One reason stick with win 10, adobe suite works well when upgrade occurred, 1607, adobe suite did not work well so back to 1511 Charl
  15. my system auto updated to 1607 yesterday, from 1511. what a mess Charl
  16. there is a refrigerator now, that uses win 10 for its menu and controls guess its safe? Charl
  17. just to change host file. 3 boxes must be dealt with. One box, save to doc folder. Another box, sure you want to modify this. Charl
  18. get tired of box popping up, ''are you sure you want to....modify....change....allow.'' Just changing the host file, saves changed file in documents folder, can't save normal location. Charl
  19. Been running win 10 pro ver 1511, since july 2015. Had some interesting experiences. While browsing with Chrome, sudden lock up, then blue screen. Restored with a 5 day old backup, same thing occurs. Its random, maybe 2 hours up, or 1 hour. That windows ''blue'' screen, would put my cpu in bios, no reboot to bios, just bios screen is up, correct the error? Did look through bios, nothing is changed. Used one of my USB stick utility's, chkdsk /f Was able to boot win 10 again. looked through critical events, did not see much, except system was shutdown improperly Think this was caused by an extension in Chrome, as running microsoft's", browser, no lock ups. This never happens on my win 7 cpus. Just my 2 cents Charl
  20. Windows 10 is so tedious. Caused a major upset for awhile. Used several forms of Linux, mint 18 and ubuntu. Both installed easily from a usb stick. Recognized my monitors, nvidia graphics card, intel mb, cpu. resolutions, multi monitor setup was a breeze just a couple of updates after installs sure was easy... still using win 10 ver 1607 OS build 14393.51 Charl
  21. the best money can buy, eh? even the president... charl
  22. staying on Windows 8.1. 8.1 was a little faster than win 7, boot and shutdown Been using win 10 pro for a year now. Seems to be okay. Still think win 10 is not as good as win 7. Will give win 10 a thumbs up for handing unknown devices. Example: Have an iogear switch box for monitors. Booted 1 box win 10, second monitor was switched to other box os. 1 box showed in device manager, KVM switch (iogear), and monitor screen did display 800x600 screen. Upon switching display back to box 1, monitor screen went back to regular, device manager showed my viewsonic monitor. Some amazing stuff, as windows 7 ultimate would never do this, just show a blank screen. Charl
  23. They're quite adept at acquiring technology then killing it off, aren't they? Remember QuarterDeck memory manager? Microsoft put it on the shelf, let it die... Charl
