  1. What you need to use is internet connection sharing, but this will be a little more tricky because you will be sharing the internet with two computers instead of just one. Maybe you can do some funny tricks with network bridging, I don't know, but I'm going to watch your topics because I'm curious as to how this will turn out. The computer with internet access will need at least two network cards, one for each computer you want to share to. Depending on what type of internet access you have, it might need up to three network cards to connect to the modem as well.
  2. If you just disabled the service then you can just as easily re-enable it. However, if you removed the service then you will probably have to reinstall windows.
  3. Often times games keep their own error logs. Try going into the directory where fable is stored and seeing if there is an error log folder.
  4. I'm sorry for what my government is doing. It isn't enough that they have to screw over the people in New Orleans, they have to insult the British while doing it!
  5. Any 100mbit switch of these days will serve you well. If you want, you can get a gbit switch and a gbit card for the server and leave all the other computers at 100mbit, thus completely eliminating any network traffic problems if the three of the computers are pulling files from the server, but I doubt you want to go that far.
  6. I say go with DC++, especially since you have it. All you have to do is download YnHub on one of the computers. Set up YnHub, then on the computer that has YnHub, load YnHub and DC++ and in DC++ connect to the hub address 127.0.0.1 and you will connect to your own hub. To have another computer on the LAN connect to the hub, have him enter your IP address (for example, 192.168.0.101) for the hub address. Donno how to find your IP address? Open the command prompt and type ipconfig Note: to be in active mode in your own hub, you need to have your LAN IP address (for example, 192.168.0.101) in the settings.
  7. I managed to find an old printserver, JetDirect 150X, that only supports IPX/SPX protocol. No TCPIP. I know it is very unlikely, but I might as well try: is there any way to get it working with the router I have? I have a netgear wireless-g router.
  8. Is this your computer that this is being installed on or is it their computers that you are trying to remove it from?
  9. Don't wanna do that :/ I might as well just remove the icon from the desktop. But I did find a workaround: blocking steampowered.com/.net gets rid of most of the ads and running in windowed mode removes the problem of the game screwing up.
  10. The problem with the ad thing is since Internet Explorer does not exist, firefox is loaded instead to display the graphic that would otherwise be displayed in the IE engine.
  11. 1) I know there is counterstrike and counterstrike source. I purchased "Half Life Counter Strike" a few years back from the store. Will counterstrike source work with the key that I have for regular counterstrike? 2) How do I remove the server ad banners and other ad banners? The reason is because I removed Internet Exploer using nLite, but sadly every time steam tries to load a graphic from these servers, it opens up firefox and the screen switches view to firefox. Is there any way I can fix this? I'd really rather not have Internet Exploer, but this problem is annoying too.
  12. I had this happen to me twice, except I didn't create a new profile. I just close firefox and then loaded it again and everything was fine. I think your profile still exists, but now firefox is using the other one by default. All you have to do is go into the profile dialogue box and select a new one.
  13. I was wondering if there is a way to share a printer with something other than the windows sharing method. The reason is because netbios isn't exactly the most secure thing in the world. If there isn't I'll just go out and buy a print server, but I'd rather not spend the money if there is some other way I can do it.
  14. Okay, I unchecked "enable autoplay for removable drives". That's it huh? Cool, thanks
  15. I had a few friends who got infected simply by inserting another persons USB thumb drive or hard drive. I have AV software, but so did they, and they still got messed up So I was wondering, how do the viruses run themselves just by inserting the drive? More importantly, is there software that will stop this autorun like behavior?
  16. I recommend re-creating the virtual hard drive. I use VMWare so I dont know what else you can try.
  17. Right now I have about 350Gigs of hard drive space. About 50Gs are all my essential stuff that I would really hate to lose, an extra 50Gs dedicated as a backup to the first 50Gs and all the rest is used for movies, ISOs, music, etc
  18. Unless you can find a way to manually repair IE (I know of no way other than the add/remove programs method), you're stuck.
  19. Take a look in the nLite forums. A post was made a while back about a free one. You will probably have to go through the first ten pages.
