I think you may have downloaded the 64bit version of WMP by accident. i don`t think that Windows Media Player is support WinXP (not Win2k3) May be ,i post this topic to find a solution for this problem. @chilifrei64 i wish you remember how did you install it, A couple of things to look for.. Add/remove programs -> add remove components -> look for windows media player Go to windows update and see if it is available under optional software go to start -> run -> wmplayer and hit ok.. if it is installed it should take you through the setup i have dialup connection now, so i can`t download any big updates {12 MB} form ms site,but what i do i chosse check for updates forom help menu in MP9 but he the message said that there is no updates for MP9 as you can see in the image. you have to install Windows Server SP1..then you have Media Player 10...but its only a version 10 for Server. ok. but i wish to install it in Win 2k3 without any Service packs for some reasons
