he has ide drives, i know that. im talking about an adapter that will turn ide into sata. his motherboard has 4 sata ports. so he can get 1 adapter and he will be set.

well my school at least upgraded to xp and most of the comps are p4 2.8, but too bad that only 1 guy there knows 'something' about xp.

well it is vista.. but im talking about when im doing alot of stuff. right now its using 750mb of pagefile and 625mb of physical ram... just seems kinda pointless to me. and im doing nothing right now but using the internet.

yes i do think aoeII is better than aoeIII. population limit means nothing. if you have 150 soilders in aoeII, you will dominate. controlling 150 soldiers is hard enough, 800 soilders will just be a pain. i just think that the gameplay is better. but thats me.

cygnus-im pretty sure my dads pii 350 is faster than most of the comps at my school, even the ones that are 2.8ghz w/ HT. of coarse an nlited windows helps alot too.

i know that evryone says this and i would have to suppose its true, but its just not true for me my pagefile will go all the way up to 2 gigs even if i have over a gig of free phyhsical memory.

why not get a pata->sata adapter?

just get a mobo with all of those things built in, since you dont need the extra performance, you dont need to get it.

how are the 2 computers connected together? router? crossover cable?

well after doing more research, it appears that pretty much every sataII drive comes in sataI mode, and if u want sataII mode you need to set it to sataII mode thru jumper or a utility. but jcarle, why else would they allow you to change back to sataI mode if you didnt need to?

well imo that is the best drive to get, its 95$ at newegg w/ free shipping. im actually waiting for newegg to ship on of those out to me right now...

getting a raptor has nothing to do with it tho, his comp should not be lagging with or without the seagate.

definetly put the page file on the first partition of the 2nd drive. the system files should be on the first partition of the 1st drive. how much are u looking to spend on a drive and where do u live(country)?

ya, i knew that. i have no clue where ur trying to go here. all i was saying is that he would have to set a jumper to make his sataII drive go into sataI mode(speed). otherwise the motherboard and drive wont work together. i never said anything about features not being there.

i know that vista doesnt have an ipx driver. but is there a way to install the xp ipx or something else so that i can get ipx working in vista?
