what are your temps at startup? if u leave ur comp on then does it work fine? if so then computerMan is right.

refund them. the store u got them from obvisouly screwed up. try to get a full refund for money, if that doesnt work then get store credit. where did u get them from? also, im wondering if one of them is pc3200 and one is pc4000. if the 3-4-4-8 is pc4000 then refund the pc3200 and get another pc4000.

hmm, lucky im over here in the US, there is only a 30$ difference. if u want to overclock alot then get the opteron, otherwise get the 3800.

well u can always check the taskmanager under performance tab. then under cpu usage history, the graph for it. if the graph is split into 2 then is HT, if its just 1 big graph then it is no HT.

are u planning on getting ram? if so then how much do u want and what mobo do u have? ecc and registered is for server mobos and you dont use them for regular desktop computers so you want to make sure that those say no. and the lower the timings the better

well if u want to open it up... you could replace the fan with a better one and maybe put a better heatsink on.

well get some zip ties at you local hardware store for 5$, im sure u can afford that... i got a 100 pack from newegg and went crazy, helps so much.

you cant lower temps unless u get a new heatsink or better fans. thats unless you case is a mess inside, that one of the reasons i keep my case very organized, airflow is a huge plus.

hmm, well if u want to overclock alot then u will need a good heatsink. try out 3.0ghz and monitor those temps.

well i guess ur right about that, xp can be very confusing with many hdds and partitions. raid 0 and a backip drive is an excellent idea. but you are going to have to find a way to move your current data. that means either buying a new hdd if u have the money and want more space. or you could transer all of your data to another computer if that a possiblity, you can do this over a home network. or if there isnt too much data, burn them all to dvds.

well the ramdrive wont help with sound much... first you need to get a temp monitoring program to find out what you current temp is. you should also get some new quiet fans, 120mm if possible.

well all i have to say is that the X2 should be taken off of this list. also the athlon 64. the operons have definetly taken over the s939 boards. they have twice as much cache and overclock much much more. i know the dual core opterons are expected to hit 2.6 on air. there is a hugh thread over at XS on people overclocks with dual core opterons and they are just crazy.

jbod was a bad decision... gives no increase in performance and increases the risk of losing data.

the fx still oc's very good and the fx60 is dual core.

um.. why not both? just make sure to monitor your temps, upgrading you cooler will help alot tho.

i have filters and i love them, having 3 dogs my house gets really bad... you can try out different filters, not sure whats the best. but u dont want to much air restriction or u will get bad cooling.
