So far so good. Settings app no longer crashes when choosing "Theme settings." Awesome job on fixing the crash bugs. =D

Earlier in a different topic I had posted something about my Settings App crashing when I go to Theme Settings. Somehow ONE was the cause of it since disabling it didn't cause Settings to crash. I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened to anyone else, but just incase. I'll give this a try and see if it happens again. *Update* : Yeah, it's still crashing my settings app. Again, Idk if it's only me or if this is happening to other people. PC Reset doesn't help in this matter ethier for me because the moment I install the shell extension for O.N.E. Settings starts crashing out when I click "Theme Settings."

i would launch the sfc /scannow command in the Command Prompt or Windows Powershell and I'd wait for it to finish. Once it does finish it tells me, "Windows Resource Protection has not found any integrity violations, yet the Settings app still crashes when I click on any of the 3 links mentioned above. I also have an issue with Windows Backup to where it freezes almost everytime after it searches for drives to backup to. Update - 7/31/15The settings app crashing when "Theme Settings", "Advanced Sound Settings", and "Mouse Pointer Settings" are clicked, seems to be caused by having OldNewExplorer 1.1.5.1 Shell extension installed.

I'm not sure if this is happening to anyone else, but for some strange reason. I'm having one small issue with the settings app. I go to the "Personalization > Themes" section and the following links cause the settings app to crash... "Theme Settings", "Advanced Sound Settings", and "Mouse Pointer Settings" rarely will the "Desktop Icon Settings" crash Settings as well. The mentioned links will sometimes work but most of the time cause the Settings app to crash, I've tried the sfc /scannow command and it hasn't worked, and I feel I shouldn't clean install Windows 10 for something this minor, is there a way to fix the settings app so that it doesn't crash? Even after the Day 1 patch that got launched out doesn't fix this Settings app issue.

It's what happens when you have (clearly inexperienced) people reinvent the wheel. Of course I reported it via Feedback, but should a beta tester have ever seen that in the first place? Thing is, back in the late 70s when I graduated college I had already written programs that did time and date management, and would not have made such a basic mistake. Microsoft must be employing some real no-talent people - and at multiple levels - to allow something like that to get out to the public. Where is their code review? Unit testing? System testing? I have this terrible, sinking feeling that good engineering practices have been thrown out on the premise that Windows is now free, so they don't have to treat the engineering with any kind of seriousness. It begs the question: What else in the OS has been done this badly? -Noel All i have to say is wow. Also, what build was this where the bug happened. 10122 I assume? I'm not sure how worse it's going to get with Windows 10. I still may just get Windows 10 regardless.

I've noticed it's hard to tell the difference between an Active and Inactive window for the most part, until the UI's been tweaked with, as seen in the second screenshot. Well I suppose we have yet to see what other changes they make to the UI within the next 2 months before Windows 10 hits RTM. I miss customizing my windows themes already. Lol. .....The heck is with that time difference? I seriously hope that gets fixed. I've never seen that before.

I never said it did, I'm just pointing that out. XD. I wish the title bar had that same transparency and blur like the Start Menu and Taskbar do. Also the Notification Center and Network Connection menu have the blur effect in build 10125.

Actually... even though it has the white title bar. The frame itself has a 1 pixel border around the entire frame of the chosen aero color.

What do you mean you can still change colors? You can change the color of window borders in 10125? Somehow, yeah. Since I used this so much it was in my jumplists. Even after the removal of the link in the Control Panel. Screenshot A : I pinned the "Change color of your taskbar shortcut" here. Screenshot B : The link to "change the color of the taskbar" has been removed from here. Yet, the pinned shortcut in the above screenshot still works. Screenshot C: Color Appearence still works, but I can't make a shortcut to the desktop by dragging "Color and Appearence" text.

Build 10125 got leaked. Tried it out for a few. It seems pretty ok. It's a shame I don't see the change color setting anymore in Control Panel. However since I used it a lot in Build 10122, A shortcut to the original colorization is available to me. Not sure now, but I can still change my colors again.

Old-New-Explorer was no longer compatible since the 2nd preview build (Which I remember it being 9860), and then the last Tech Preview build for Windows Insiders (which is 9879). Windows Insider participants won't get a new Tech Preview Build release until 2015 when Windows 10 hits Consumer Preview. Build 9901 is a very early build of the Consumer Preview.

Here's mine. A Windows 8.1 XSniper Gaming PC. Using the following apps : Big Muscle's Aero Glass and Aero Glass GUI.Tihiy's Startisback+ and OldNewExplorerxXiNightXx's Themer's Best Friend app showing off all (or most) parts of my Windows theme, "Aero Retro".Aero Retro celebrates a decade of the Aero Glass UI that Microsoft has brought to us since the Longhorn days. This theme combines some features from Windows Longhorn (Post-XP / Pre-Vista Beta) to Windows 8/8.1 (Click on Image to see in full view) The Wallpaper is made up of several of Microsoft's default Wallpapers. Combines Windows 8 Milestone 3, a bit of Windows 7 Beta, a little of Vista, there's also a Windows 8.1 BG mixed in, and to top it all off, Windows Millenium Edition's default Wallpaper http://i.imgur.com/3KcvGsX.jpg I called the wallpaper "Windows Neo". In my opinion the wallpaper goes great with the theme. The theme comes in 2 versions, Round and Square.

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172357-aero-glass-customizer-for-win8x/ Go on this topic, and download a small tool called Aero Glass Customizer. Once downloaded if you happen to have "Round Corners" selected. uncheck it and hit Apply and it should restore the square corners again.

The msstyle has to be edited to where the theme itself have square edges on the following properties. this is no aero issue. This happens when you use a theme which is incompatible with the Spring Update for 8.1. StartIsBack+ fixes it. Or modifying the theme file for it to work without Startisback but it messes up the original Start Menu Properties in the process. One of the 2.

The bug has been around since the beginning at least from what I remember. Certain Windows don't have the glass on the navigation bar even with the option selected.

No. That would happen IF they were not MS. We know how they have a quirk for creating standards (or pretending to create standards) and never respect them integrally nor to actually respect *any* actual standard completely. It's their "way of computing". jaclaz Oh.... well then.. I guess we can expect some messy properties for themers constructing themes .... jeez... they're all over the place.

I see what you mean. Supposely if they were to continue "Unifying" the Desktop and Modern UI in Windows 10, wouldn't the default Windows 10 theme match the Modern UI atlas?

When you run an app in compatibility mode, the side-borders shrink but retain the theme you currently use. However when you run an app in compatibility mode in Windows XP SP3 or lower. The window frame of that program opens in Basic Mode Like in the following pic here. This is Microsoft Paint from Windows XP. Running in compatibility mode under Windows XP Service Pack 3. (However this can still run normally without in compatibility mode.)

I stumbled across this and I was rather shocked. Math Input Accessory still retains the EXACT layout of one of Windows 7's window layouts. Note the Caption button is not like the rest, and the sides of the Window frame are shiny, ALSO the round frames. Why wasn't this changed? And more importantly, Where are the sources for this Window layout. This just in.... i started applying some other themes, and ..... I'm not rly pleased with this (Aero Glass is turned off btw) ^ Using Aero Consumer Preview theme. ^ AeroLite And Lastly.... ^ High Contrast 2. As you can see the Math Input Accessories is transparent in High Contrast Mode. What happened here?

Actually when you go to your PC Settings, then accounts, when you view your "Microsoft account" underneath your name there's a "Disconnect" option that allows you to switch back to a Local Account
