  1. Great post, UCyborg! Thank you very much for providing such revealing information. I wonder whether or not Microsoft now regrets the fate of Aero Glass now that they are phasing out certain consumer hardware? I remember the first time I booted up Windows Vista RTM way back and how blown away I was with the UI design. Granted, Vista was a memory hog, I thought, but Windows 7 was a triumph (and still their best OS release to date). I still run it as a virtual machine for a multitude of reasons, but I digress. BigMuscle, you're a hero in my eyes for what you've done (yes, I'm a dork - f***in' right), but I do remain fadingly-hopeful that Microsoft re-implements Aero Glass back into Windows sooner or later, but I'll always appreciate your ongoing work. And I'll pitch in some more money as well - you've definitely earned it.
  2. How to get navigation bar to be transparent

I was gonna say that I had the same problem until I used OldNewExplorer to disable the ribbon and now it works flawlessly.
  3. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking when it decided to ditch Aero Glass. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I 'upgraded' my PCs from Windows 7 to 8. The dull, mundane look of the UI took me back to the days of Windows 2000. What BigMuscle has contributed towards restoring the look is fundamental. If it weren't for his hard work, I would have resorted to using WindowBlinds, which, seems to be a memory hog, and, doesn't work as well as it should given the asking price for it + premium themes. For a time after Windows 8 was released, I had thought that Microsoft would realize that they messed up (and would work to patch Aero Glass back in), but then Windows 10 came out, and now I'm convinced that they won't bother listening to the countless requests to implement Aero Glass back in for W32-based apps at least (UWP apps they might). So yeah, BigMuscle's work has been invaluable in this regard - I can't stress that enough. And that's why I'm proud to have donated to the cause + will do so again for the work to continue. And Microsoft clearly doesn't appreciate the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Sad story indeed (but thank goodness that BigMuscle stepped in).
  4. Many thanks BigMuscle. Windows 10 just wouldn't be the same without your hard work.
  5. Dear BigMuscle, I'd very much like to thank you sir for your continuously-updated contribution to the Windows 10 modding community. It is arguably the most cherished amendment to the aforementioned OS' UI that I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Granted, it can't be easy to try and keep up with all the changes implemented by Microsoft on an all-too-regular basis, but it certainly doesn't appear to have stopped you, therefore, much obliged indeed. In addition to an essential app in my humble opinion, Aero Glass continues to be, without a doubt, second to none, and, easily worth every penny I've donated. I sincerely hope you had a memorable Christmas, and I wish you all the best going forward, friend, cheers :-)
  6. You're a good man, MDJ. A belated thank you, friend, for your selfless contribution towards making Windows 10 a better experience. It means a lot, cheers :-)
  7. BigMuscle, thank you so much for your continued dedication towards making Windows 10 aesthetically-pleasing. Microsoft ought to credit you for cleaning up their bland attempt at a comprehensive UI. I would argue that your hard work has consistently yielded an outstanding product, as well as a precious contribution to the community in general. I don't mean to suck up, but you're awesome! Cheers, friend :-)
  8. Awesome news, thanks for the heads up! Thanks again to BigMuscle for continuing to make Windows 10 aesthetically-pleasing. It's far more important than it may sound, and I don't know what I would have done without his outstanding contribution, because the alternatives are rather mediocre. Much obliged BM!
  9. Sorry for the late reply, nitinvaid20. I believe you are correct. In fact, I think that BigMuscle's 'Aero Glass' software includes its own patch to enable custom themes - that is, unless he has removed it. It's important to note that the aforementioned patch integrated into Aero Glass may only enable custom themes through Aero Glass itself, and not separately of that. Either way, to be certain everything works fine, I have always chosen to install the latest version of UxTheme Patcher. But then again, I always prefer using 3rd party themes (the ones you have to place into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes). Hope this helped, good day.
  10. UXTheme Patcher modifies three system files in order to allow third party themes to be installed and enabled.
  11. Dear BigMuscle, My sincerest thanks for your continued support of an app which makes a fundamental difference aesthetically for Windows 10 users. Your work puts the likes of Stardock to shame, and I am not exaggerating. Keep up the outstanding work, friend :-)
  12. I genuinely hope he is alright. His software is the reason I've been able to use Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 without being disgusted by the changes made to the user interface after Windows 7 (still the best one ever in my opinion). You're right - a lot of time has passed us without an update of any kind from the man himself. His absence only serves to underscore the stupid decision made which resulted in Windows Aero's codebase being shredded apart.
  13. Aero Glass for Win8.1+ 1.5.3

It's such a shame - his software has added a beautiful (arguably fundamental) touch to Windows 8, 8.1 and 10's fugly UI, and, the resource usage isn't very significant to boot. Where could he be? Why is he not responding? It would provide us with some peace of mind to receive verbal confirmation from him in that he has not abandoned the project. Hell, I would donate again if he would continue his work on it. Alas, it appears I'll have to resort to using Windowblinds again. ---------------------------- BM, in the event that you read this, I beg of you not to give up on this essential application. You've done a phenomenal job so far. Please continue to work on it at least for the remainder of this year. I'll gladly donate what I can if you do. I don't know if you're sick, or if there's a family emergency, or something else entirely, but I pray you're alright. Sincerely, Sam
