  1. I just would like to post new driver for RIS (those you put in the i386 folder) Last week we had a new IBM m55p that featured a new Intel Nic So here they are, if you have any other driver file other than those in the zip, I highly suggest you to delete those file. New intel RIS file Good luck!
  2. Hello, all! I've been working for the last 2 year on RIS. Personally I do think it's a very good way to deploy Windows XP. I use it with unattended file (No RIREP). Now I'm trying to figure out how to deal with Windows Vista to get the same stuff (or about the same) I've been playing with the for the last month. So far, It's not really working quite well. I know WDS is an update of RIS server. That part is working. I can get access to my old RIS images. The part that is not working is the Vista deployment. I've been trying to deploy it, but I still don't understand how it should be. From what I understand WDS should start WinPE then start the unattended Vista installation. Winpe simply does not work. It says it couldnt find the nic driver. Now it says to use the drvload utilie to add it, but I can't find that utility. *sigh* Then I went on website to see what is not working. That is the fun part. Is anyone able to figure how its works in this documentation. There are too many steps, and not enough explication. It only says sometime do that and do this. And when it's not working, no explication... *sigh* Now another tricky part, what is the difference between WDS and BDD2007. Why I should use one instead of the other? My organisation had about 500 computer so it's rather big on a single site. Office 2007 is going to be only deployable with BDD2007 since Gpo deployment is going to be very limited with GPO. Should I switch all my deployment in BDD2007? Whatis going to happen to all the stuff I've done in GPO deployment. Will I have to switch them to make them work in BDD2007. Your advice is welcome. THANKS
  3. This problem has been reported several time. Have you tried the search function? IBM has a specific driver for this. Check out this page http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/d...ocid=MIGR-62922 Take the inf from the "PRO1000\WS03XP2K\RIS_INF" folder and put it in your "i386" folder. Before you do that, delete the previous file (or make a backup) and delete also the associated ".pnf" file. Good luck
  4. Looks like the download invitation is not available anymore. Anymore can provide me a link where I can get it?
  5. Both are not working. There is still that prompt asking me if I really want to uninstall it. Thanks anyway
  6. Hello, I've searched for this and found nothing so far. So here is my question: How I can TOTALLY uninstall Skype without any user intervention? The switch provided with the installer (/VERYSILENT /NORESTART /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES) works but there is still a prompt to the user that ask to delete of not the chat history. In my scenario, I am wrapping the executable to get a total unattended installation to use with the GPO. I know I can script, I know i can "AutoIT" but these solutions are not suitable for what I want. Anyone knows how we can skip or just provide the info needed to get the uninstall process totally unattended? Thanks!
  7. According to the inf I got here is the driver number found inside For my file: e1e5132.inf: 04/03/2006,9.3.39.0 e100b325.inf: 01/12/2006,8.0.27.0 e1000325.inf: 01/06/2006,8.6.17.0 10.3 from intel website: e1e5132.inf: 01/23/2006,9.3.28.0 e100b325.inf: 01/12/2006,8.0.27.0 e1000325.inf: 01/06/2006,8.6.17.0 So 2 of the 3 have the same datecode. But all of my file are identified inside the inf file as "RIS INF" so I guess they are modified. The download from which they come from is "LAN_10.4_ALLOS_PV.EXE". I tought it was 10.4 with that but anyway, they worked so far with all my attempt. Did you tried them?
  8. You can check this, but you don't need to install any hotfix. My RIS is installed on a 2003 SP1, they do say that I might need need a hotfix, but I haven't installed. All you have to do is to clear the older driver found in i386, copy these, restart your RIS service and everything should be ok. Theses drivers are awesome
  9. I looked to this solution a couple month ago. The learning curve for this software look very long. So I decide to stay with RIS which gives me a lot a posibilities. I have to test it someday....
  10. The problem is in the MSI file. I have worked on this one a lot and none of my try have worked so far. What i want to do is to deploy it with GPO with the plugin installed in IE and to disable the icon....
  11. Areo style is good for home people. I just hope they will provide some stuff to disable it in corporate environment... Or at least to disable it by default, and then if people want it, they can re-enable it.
  12. Hello all! I've been using RIS for about a year. One of the major problem I had, was to find each time Intel release a new NIC the working set of driver for RIS. A few people in this forum claimed that the 10.3 driver set was working really well for them. In my setup, a couple a my NIC were not working. The new 1000 /PL combined with the 945GTP chipset gave me some kind of headache last week. So I googled to fnd something that was working with this one. I finally found something out of nowhere on the Intel website. Download label is "LAN_10.4_ALLOS_PV.EXE". They came on the 956GTP chipset homepage. If you look for the nic driver, you'll find the 10.3. They came with specific .inf driver in a separate folder. After reading the "readme.txt" I have compiled these driver, available for download right here. You should delete all your previous driver in the "i386" before installing these. For your folder "$OEM$\$1\driver\Nic" you should use the 10.3 driver. So far I have tested with 1000 /PL, 100 /VE and 1000 /MT and ALL were successfull. This download should give you peace and serenity EDIT: Sorry, but the attachment system had refused my attachment the first time and I didn't noticed it. Here is the link: RIS working drivers
  13. For the driver you'll need check here RIS Driver Be sure to read the readme.txt in each folder and follow the steps. You should also clean your old driver from the "i386" before copying the new ones. Intel NIC are very frustating, with these drivers all my test have been successfull. Hope this helps!
  14. If finnaly appears that I finnaly found the working driver for RIS. Labeled 10.4. Found them on the motherboard homepage on Intel website. There are specific driver for RIS. Just read the "readme.txt" and it should work. Here is the link: Proset 10.4 for RIS
  15. Hello, I tried several driver yesterday to make it work on a D945 and Intel 1000 /PL. So far, none had worked. Im trying this on a brand new IBM T60 laptop. Anything on this?
  16. I am loggin on the domain with an autologon to get script I store on network. Ill try the GuiRunOnce today. Thanks
  17. Hello all! I'm having weirdo problem with the autologon. At Stage T-13 my cmdlines.txt import a registry file like this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="RIS-Autologon" "DefaultPassword"="mySuperDuperPassword" "DefaultDomainName"="myDomain" "ShowLogonOptions"=dword:00000001 "AutoAdminLogon"="1" Sif File: [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=someEncryptedPassword EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=%TIMEZONE% OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductID=I WONT TELL FullName="LocalAdmin" OrgName=%SERVERDOMAIN% ComputerName=%MACHINENAME% [Identification] JoinDomain=%MACHINEDOMAIN% DoOldStyleDomainJoin=Yes When windows setup has finished, Autologon fails. The username and password are filled with the right value, but the domain field is filled with the computer name. The computer is in the domain, all drivers are installed correctly. It seems like Im having this problem only in the new computer wich never joined the domain before.
  18. That is the main reason why i don't integrate patches in my setup but instead install them each time I setup a computer. You never know when some patches will screw your xp installation folder!
  19. If you don't want to rename your stuff, the only thing you can do is to set it in the reg file that way: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "Wallpaper"="C:\\WINDOWS\\Web\\Wallpaper\\WallpaperName.bmp" Then copy your wallpaper (converted as a BMP, very important) to C:\Windows\Web\Wallaper Good luck!
  20. I tried something similar to you. Here is my experience on this. Location &nbsp: <SELECT NAME="MACHINEOU"> <OPTION VALUE="%SERVERDOMAIN%/1/RIS">TEST <OPTION VALUE="%SERVERDOMAIN%/2/RIS">TEST <OPTION VALUE="%SERVERDOMAIN%/3/RIS">TEST </SELECT> Then using it in my SIF file. This isn't acutally a really exact match to your stuff but if I wanted, I could use the variable %MACHINEOU% in the sif file. The only i see different from your file and mine is that you use space when you declare your value. You could try without dash in your prod key. Good luck! Hope this helps!
  21. Is your netowrk card detected when your system boot in Windows for the first time?
  22. Try that: [identification] JoinDomain = dominio DoOldStyleDomainJoin=Yes
