Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.07 not installing
jfmartel replied to orionuk's topic in Application Installs
? Which script are you taking about? Once excuted the Setup.exe will build the necesseray file needed to install in the directory c:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp... If you go there, a temporary directory should be created, the needed file for the setup are there. Take the whole directory. -
It's pretty hard to help when you have that information. Give us more details.....

First of all, latest is 7.0.7. Secondly, this has been covered zillion of time. You should try to use the search function.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.07 not installing
jfmartel replied to orionuk's topic in Application Installs
Try entering your key in your registry then export it. AdbeRdr70_enu_full.exe /s /v/qb Those were working with version 7. Sicne it's the same technology used, it whoudl work. Another suggestion would be to get the MSI from the TEMP directory. Just extract with WinRAR your file and you'll get all the file needed. -

Then I'm pretty sure you can't install the patch with after installing it.... You might want to check on Microsoft newsgroup to seek help from an MVP.

I know RogueSpear has posted about it at the begining of the month on a reply, but I tough it doesnt had much publicity it deserve. Google Toolbar Beta for Enterprise So here it is. Come with a .adm template for GPO. Complete documentation on how to customize with GPO and also with registry. Hope it will help someone here.
-
That KB is related to WMP. I've been trying to install that patch with SVCPACK and then install thru GPO WMP. It's not working. I know there is a patch for WMP9 and WMP10. Check if you have the right version for the WMP you are installing. It's maybe a problem where you have to get the application installed and rebooted before you can install your patch... Personnaly, I've removed that patch. It's the only one that doesn't work in my scenario. Hope this help!

Change My Document and Desktop locations
jfmartel replied to hoehne's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
That can be easily done with two key. First set all the thing the way you like (You'll have to set it with TweakUI the first time, unless you know hex code) Then backup these entry in the registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders] "Desktop"= "Favorites"= "Personal"= "My Pictures"= "My Music"= "My Video"= [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] "Desktop"= "Favorites"= "Personal"= "My Pictures"= -
First, set everything the way you want it then you need to check those two location in your registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders] "Desktop"= "Favorites"= "Personal"= "My Pictures"= "My Music"= "My Video"= [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] "Desktop"=hex "Favorites"=hex "Personal"=hex "My Pictures"=hex Export those key, and everything should be ok EDIT: Why not setting this in a GPO? That would be so much easier!

Another SVCPACK problem thread
jfmartel replied to jfmartel's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yeah that's what I found too yesterday. Seems like I read that too fast on the webpage... Thanks! -
So here is the situation. Im trying to put the update for SP2 on my RIS server. I've read what was on unattended.msfn.org and followed their instruction. I would like, before I got the comment, to add that any integration is against what I want to do. I want a clean SP2 then install all hotfix I downloaded. So here is what's inside my file/directory Under i386, I created a SVCPACK diretory: KB123455.exe KB124432.exe qchain.exe SVCPACK.INF ;Windows XP [Version] Signature=" NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [setupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\SVCPACK" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] [setupHotfixesToRun] KB873339.exe /q /n /z KB885250.exe /q /n /z KB885835.exe /q /n /z KB885836.exe /q /n /z KB886185.exe /q /n /z KB887742.exe /q /n /z KB888113.exe /q /n /z KB888302.exe /q /n /z KB890046.exe /q /n /z KB890859.exe /q /n /z KB891781.exe /q /n /z KB893066.exe /q /n /z KB893756.exe /q /n /z KB893803.exe /q /n /z KB894391.exe /q /n /z KB896358.exe /q /n /z KB896422.exe /q /n /z KB896423.exe /q /n /z KB896424.exe /q /n /z KB896428.exe /q /n /z KB898461.exe /q /n /z KB899587.exe /q /n /z KB899589.exe /q /n /z KB899591.exe /q /n /z KB900725.exe /q /n /z KB901017.exe /q /n /z KB901214.exe /q /n /z KB902400.exe /q /n /z KB904706.exe /q /n /z KB905414.exe /q /n /z KB905749.exe /q /n /z KB905915.exe /q /n /z KB908519.exe /q /n /z KB910437.exe /q /n /z KB912919.exe /q /n /z qchain.exe Added that to DOSNET.INF [OptionalSrcDirs] SVCPACK Deleted that file svcpack.in_ Restarted the RIS server...... Now what? Thanks for any help! Problem has been bolded... Hope no one else looked that dumb like me on this one....

Nvidia drive are extractable with Winrar or Winzip. You might want to do that and then include your path to OemPnPDriversPath in your winnt.sif file
-
Yeah you might want to check out a simple basic guide on installing a RIS Server. To resume it, go in your Windows add/remove component, ADD RIS, reboot and then run from the command prompt "risetup". After that, youll have a "functionnal" RIS Server with one image. Need more help, you can post where you are blocked. Thanks

Well I guess if we could just disable the registration that would not cause the icon in the startup folder. I know there is a way to disable it withg a script (overwriting the original file with antoher one) but since I want to use it with Active Directory, is there a way to do it with the MSI not with scripting?

Advanced Appearance > Active Title Bar
jfmartel replied to Wesmosis's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I worked on that one for a couple days.. still haven't found a way to put the size down to 21 (20 in my case). First I tough that it was there: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Appearance\New Schemes\Current Settings SaveAll\Sizes\0] and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop But none of this worked so far.... still searching for... those button are SO HUGE by default... -
Anyone found a way to disable the shortcut in the "startup" folder? I've found the key in the MSI, but couldnt find a way to disable its installation...

There is a free tool I use for this. It's called Orca. It's included in the Windows SDK. You can get a copy of this on the Microsoft website. The filename you need to download is "PSDK-x86.exe" Hope this help! EDIT: Direct link to download: Windows® Server 2003 SP1 Platform SDK Web Install
