  1. Hot news: http://microsoft-news.com/some-android-devices-will-soon-be-able-to-run-windows-apps/ Windows applications (win32!) are coming to Android! And there are already some Android-laptops and even desktop PCs. If Microsoft continues with the dumbing down of Windows (forced updates, data-leaking everywhere, degraded UI), while Android in turns gets the ability to run Windows applications (the real deal win32 ones) you could just as well run an Android-PC soon. What would be the difference given Microsoft's path with Windows so far? It looks as if Android actually gets more customization options each version, while Windows in turn gets more and more dumbed down with every iteration since W8. The more more successful Microsoft is at sabotaging former Windows' core strengths, the more they are asking for developments like these.
  2. Uh, I just now noticed that they still have the Surface line going, now even with a real notebook (surface book). Weird. I thought Nadella didn’t want to concetrate on the “devices” part anymore? How are the OEMs feeling about this? MS is attacking their notebook-market now, the core of any Windows OEM. A tablet was kinda excusable, but this is an outright declaration of war against OEMs.
  3. They want to kill the control panel: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/174582-microsoft-killing-classic-control-panel-in-win-10/
  4. And of course this change will be forced on all current W10 users. Yay!
  5. W10 might suck, but at least you can multi-do with it.
  6. And that we're labeled haters for pointing out such obvious and correct things speaks a lot about society. We're heading toward a future where all restaurants are Taco Bell. -Noel Yeah. It's all about the redefinition of "troll" and "hater". If you don't say anything nice, you're filed under one (or both) of these categories. And that's it. Criticism distorts harmony and is double-plus-ungood. I swear, some of these *tards would rather live in a house made of cow-dung than filing a complaint about it. It's funny to hear the complaints about "entitlement", because the current trend seems to be the complete opposite of it. And crap like Metro is the result.
  7. The fantards are already excusing them with “who uses DVDs nowadays bla bla” as if that’s an excuse for super-buggy software below freetard-levels. And that thing isn’t even free, it costs 15$ per computer. dvdplay.exe from Windows 98 far better than this crap. This speaks a lot about metro and NuMicrosoft. If you buy (or get from a Windows 7 "upgrade") a DVD Player license, can you use WMP or another win32 DVD Player? (from MS, I know VLC works) No, all you get is this metro crapfest.
  8. http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-acknowledges-multiple-issues-with-windows-10-dvd-player-app-suggests-workarounds NuMicrosoft can’t even make a DVD player anymore. At least not in “metro”.
  9. Freetards won't get their act together. I know that community very well. Its permeated with too much loon and arrogance. A deadly combination. Arrogance: They think their stuff is perfect. Loon: Too much bickering about useless crap like which license adheres more perfectly with Stallmanism and whether a stable ABI is a sin towards FOSSness. Open source products start to shine when a no-nonsense business entity takes the helm, like Google did with Android. Otherwise they drown in their own loon-juice. Unfortunately, Desktop Linux got Shuttleworth at the helm, and he's useless.
  10. No problem. Warning: Rant ahead I've probably written already. I find this whole idea of cloud-computing deeply abhorrent anyway. The "old" way of data-storage on the internet, where you had a millions of vendors for IMAP, web-hosting etc. was reasonable. But modern "cloud-computing" means all your data, all your life, is in the hands of one conglomerate. And there are only 3 of such companies, at least for the average consumer. The s***. We have three giant honeypots where all your life is stored at. The threat that these companies will use your data for their purposes is bad enough, but then there are the intelligence services. The western agencies have direct access to these sites, and the Russian and Chinese hackers are extremely capable. If they want to hack something, I am pretty sure they will get it (just look at all the hacking-scandals). And let's not forget what a bribe and backhand-deals could do ("grant us access to the cloud-database, or we will ban Windows"). By using the integrated cloud services, you're giving away a permanent subscription to your data to God knows who. How about f***ing no? I just do not want. And why is complaining about this tin-foil hat material suddenly? Why is it now a sin if I don't want to grant all the megacorps and intelligence agencies of the world my private documents? Seriously, what's wrong with the apologizers in this regard? I am so sickened that we are sliding directly into a tech-dystopia, into a literal bad sci-fi-movie scenario, just because.. .. eh.. to talk to Cortana? What a deal!
  11. "We'll try to fix" - have you noticed anything? No recovery console started on reboot or something?
  12. What are you going to do when Windows 10.1 arrives through WinUpdate and resets everything?
  13. As I said elsewhere, I am neither on W8 nor on W10 so I have idea how the metro-related background tasks are related. But can't you do the brute-force method? A "task-kill" batch which nukes them on every start-up? Have you tried auto-it? It's very easy to program a script with it which monitors whether a task is running and then kills it immediately. Here's an example: While 1 If ProcessExists("ShellExperienceHost.exe") Then ProcessClose("ShellExperienceHost.exe") EndIfWEndThis one runs constantly in the background (takes almost no resources) and always kills ShellExperienceHost.exe whenever it appears. Change the process in the above script to "Notepad.exe", run it and then try to run notepad to see how effective it is at closing.
  14. I think these (with the exception of svchost of course) are all due metro and can be removed.
  15. Maybe the solution is just to run W7 (or a metro-less 8.1 for that matter) until it falls apart. If you keep your browser, Acrobat Reader and Flash updated, the internet is pretty safe even on an unpatched Windows. And that's pretty much the only attack-vector if you have a working firewall.
  16. Shill-article from winbeta: http://www.winbeta.org/news/relax-windows-10-doesnt-have-a-malicious-keylogger I found the comments interesting. There are lots of fanboys of course, but a surprising number of dissent as well.
  17. Sure, on sunday they are unlikely, buit you can still access a recap of the week and you could have watched the new MS commercials for Windows 10 instead of TV: http://www.winbeta.org/news/windows-10-news-recap-threshold-2-ui-refinements-new-ads-and-more Meet Tadala, Patrick, Leena and another bunch of nice kids . jaclaz These ads are hillarious. They are all about Cortana and that "smudge on websites"-gimmick that any browser vendor can implement within a week. Exciting new features, lol.
  18. Getting tired of you posting what you did on other forums. There are no interesting W10 news right now.
  19. There was nothing good on TV, so I had quite the run on C9: https://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/The-glorious-telescreen-OS-marches-on-as-does-censorship?page=2(scroll down, look at page 3 too)
  20. Looked a bit around on answers.microsoft.com. There are some real gems there. My favourite so far: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_desktop/why-i-hate-windows-10/7912adb4-8399-4c33-8dc6-678b5f752f2e?page=1 Metrotard deeply unhappy because... Tard 10 is not metrotarded enough! Amazing, a true believer. Most metrotards faked it: They never truly liked metro, it was all about the shill-act (as seen by statements like "why are you complaining? I installed classic shell and never see the start screen.."). But this guy is the real-deal. The one-in-a-billion metrotard super jackpot. I almost feel humbled finding his thread.
  21. Yeah, but there are few places where you'll find bigger corporate whores. I found it to be a excellent rhetorical training ground. Some of these guys are so "loon", that if MS will announce that mandatory blood-samples are needed to keep using Windows 7, they would defend this move tooth and nails because MS said it. I know it's weird, but I am somewhat fascinated by tech cults. Back in the day some of the Linuxers could rival the Taliban and Mao's angry youth with ease and now the metrotards have topped them by a wide margin! It's all the more fascinating, because all the "community effort" Linux and FOSS has (sharing code, the GPL etc.) is not present with NuMicrosoft: It's just a bunch of vastly overpaid smug execs with ridiculous hipster-haircuts killing anything good the company had and producing ugly Orwellian garbage since three years to push a stock - and apparently something like that still can still instill rabid fanatism among some people. Fascinating.
  22. Hm, no. I haven't visited the official Microsoft forums much after the redesign. How shill-infested are the official MS forums nowadays?
  23. Noel, I see you have responded in that C9 thread.. Have you read through all their responses? Quite an experience, eh.
