  1. Fredledingue I had to tweak the SED files a bit to make this happen, because normally it doesn't without tweaking. But at your request, here they are: * Unofficial Windows 98 SE 256 Colors Icons Explorer EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1710 Fix: http://www.mdgx.com/files/explor9x.php - EXPLORER.EXE Fix [172 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EXPLOR98.EXE - EXPLORER.EXE Fix [175 KB, Italian]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/ITEXPL98.EXE - OLD EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1700 Fix [174 KB, Brazilian Portuguese]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/BREXPL98.EXE * Unofficial Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE Stack Corruption KRNL386.EXE 4.10.2000 Fix: - KRNL386.EXE Fix [175 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/98KRNLUP.EXE - KRNL386.EXE Fix [178 KB, Italian]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IT98KRNL.EXE All languages have been updated, but I don't have any other language Windows OS besides English, so I can't actually test properly. In Italian language [not tested with any other language except English] this INF directive returns an error message if I try to install Italian exe installer on my English OS [Win98 SE used]. From an INF file (generic example): This works properly in English language.HTH

  14. Ok, I give up... ... "stickified"
  15. I did install option 3...So do you I reccomend I keep my system unable to view shutdown logos if option 3 is installed? It's all up to you, whichever you prefer...1. see the logos when you shut down Windows or 2. keep the features installed by 98SE2ME option 3 [and the rest of WinME files]. P.S.: IMHO: I keep the WinME files, I don't care about any wait-to-shut-down +/- shut-down logos, the only logo I want to see is the startup/bootup logo [C:\LOGO.SYS], which is not affected by the WinME USR*.* files. HTH
  16. So how many variants of 891711 exist ? The official MS one. U891711 which appears to be a hack of the MS one by anonymous. Both of those are only adding files. And Tihy's one and the one finally posted by Fredledingue in the other thread, both of which replacing user32.dll and user.exe. So it seems there are 4 different ones. No you should not find them there in fact as I wrongly believed that 98SE's wininit.exe was automatically backing up files it deletes or replace as it does on Win ME. Details here:http://www.mdgx.com/files/q891711.php Relevant paragraph: More details here:http://www.mdgx.com/files/U891711.TXT Please note that install/rename INF problems for all installers have been resolved [to my knowledge] as of 10-24-1007: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 HTH

  21. Please read these 2 fragments from READ1ST.TXT:http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/read1st.php HTH I have this same problem too. But before I apply this fix, I was wondering if there is anything (features, bug/security fixes, or otherwise) that I'm losing by changing my USER32.DLL and USER.EXE versions... Not that I'm aware of, unless you have had erratic mouse cursor problems, like I used to have when I was using Win98 SE USER*.* files, that were fixed by the WinME USER*.* files.Recommended: If using 98SE2ME option 3, you may want to keep the WinME USER*.* files. HTH
  22. No need to uninstall any older 98SE2ME version you might have.Just install the new one, it will take care of all changes from the time you installed the old one up to the most recent release. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a laptop to test the docking issues. Any volunteers? Best wishes.
  23. UPDATED · 10-24-2007 Hopefully all install/rename INF problems should be resolved. Please test these updated patches, and let me know: ITOLEUP.EXE - Italian OLEUP.EXE KB891711.EXE Q891711.EXE Q891711F.EXE - French Q891711I.EXE - Italian RICHED9X.EXE ITSHELME.EXE - Italian SHELL98.EXE SHELL98F.EXE - French SHELL98I.EXE - Italian SHELL98P.EXE - Polish SHELLME.EXE ME918547.EXE Q918547.EXE KB918547.EXE All others are English. BTW: I need a volunteer to translate the text files from English to Polish = SHELL98P.EXE. PM me if you want to do this. Thanks. Enjoy. P.S.: I'll be waiting for more feedback on the new Xeno86 VACHE.VXD patch for 98 SE. I'll build an installer if it works for most testers.

  25. 98SE2ME installs Movie Maker (MM) exe(cutable) from WinME CD-ROM/CABs [if you have them] only as part of option 3. This has nothing to do with KernelEx. I have not tested KernelEx with MM exe on 98 SE/ME. If you d/l + install 98SE2ME, you can see PATMM.EXE in C:\9!M : http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46349 O3.BAT can be opened in Notepad and contains the lines you can see that install moviemk.exe [patched WinME exe] by recreating the exe from patmm.exe, but only if you have original moviemk.exe from WinME CD/CABs. Patched MM exe can be downloaded here: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#WME * Microsoft Windows ME Movie Maker MOVIEMK.EXE 1.0.1377.0 Fix: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=262806 Direct download [449 KB, English]: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...75D567C1451.EXE This is from 98SE2ME READ1ST.TXT: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/read1st.php Similarly, you can d/l and install Wupg98, which installs patched MM exe: * Unofficial Windows 98 SE Upgrade Pack (WUPG) Pre-Fall 2006 installs 60+ Windows Updates, USB Drivers, Internet Games, Movie Maker etc: http://www.bpa23.host.sk/wupg.html WUPG [24.1 MB, English, free]: http://www.mdgx.com/spx/WUPG98.EXE More info: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=72297 But in my experience [as stated in 98SE2ME READ1ST.TXT] MM exe works with 98 SE *only* if you install the other files from 98SE2ME option 3. Of course, you're welcome to experiment as you like. HTH
