  1. i'm having the same problem but when i get a problem the system randomly restarts,no blue screens not nuttin,it never did it before,it's clean of viruses n such,i've even tried different drivers n such,still the same then i got a blue screen PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

    STOP:0x0000004E (0x0000008F,0x00021C09,0x00017449,0x00000000)

    that means memory but my memory works fine,even a reinstall does not help or a repair,could it be nvidia drivers sound drivers or windows installer 3.1?would installing home edition instead of pro do help?my power supply is a 480 watt and it works.

  2. hey sorry bout not posting much,i am no longer a windows 98 se user(i switched in the first week in feb 2005 to xp only as it works better for me,Whimsy,your points are perfectly valid as for unforgivens as well,my opinions on windows 98 are different now then they were,un forgiven my posts were about windows 98 when i was still hanging onto it,now xp sp2 is my main os,Whimsy:i did try windows 2000 years ago and loved it,i have been working hard to switch win 98 users to xp,i have 1 pc that can't handle xp cuzz of ram(96)Hard drive(1 GB).

  3. i got xp running on a laptop that was running 98 se,it's a 333 with 160 ram,runs great with alot of stuff turned off,w2k didn't want to install on it,it's a compaq 1235(a 6 yr old model)xp would be better than me or w2k.but use xplite instead of nlite cuzz it can cause problems and if you need to reinstall something,with xplite you can,with nlite you can't.

  4. Before you install Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, make sure your computer meets the following minimum hardware requirements:

    * Supported processors: AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel Pentium III Xeon with Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) support, Intel Pentium 4 with Intel EM64T support

    * 256 megabytes (MB) RAM

    * 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space

    * Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution video card

    * CD-ROM or DVD drive

    * Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

    Note: If you are using a high-end video card for rendering three-dimensional graphics, or if you are using computer peripherals other than the minimum hardware requirements, make sure your computer hardware is compatible with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

    For network installation, you will need the following:

    * Windows Server™ 2003-compatible network adapter card and related cable

    * Access to the network shared directory that contains the Setup files

    those are the requirements to install xp 64x professional.

  5. benchmarks for a rc2 os mean nothing

    sides if you want the cd key for it you gotta register to get it and posting a lame benchmark in the wrong topic name should be fixed,it is named cd key:post about that,not about a lame benchmark on rc2 os.

  6. it's just something between ie and java that won't be fixed,stick to a non ie browser like firefox or opera and you won't have those kinds of problems.

  7. go into device manager and check your cd rom and your hard drives, if there is something called Virtual cd/dvd drive then goto properties and click disable then it won't show it after you restart,also reinstall that program and see if you can get it to not show that Virtual cd/dvd drive, then uninstall it,i had a program called alchohol 120 and it made a virtual drive but in order for it to not to show it i had to tell it to have no virtual drives,then it would not show it then you uninstall it but since you uninstalled it before unchecking that option your gonna be stuck with that device in the device manager unless you goto safe mode and remove it there.hope this helps.

  8. a clean install with be the best thing since sliced bread,just make sure you have enuf space plus if you upgrade, there are files n such that are left from the previous windows install,on a clean install, you start out fresh instead of having old, useless folders from your previous installation,it is kinda fun when you do an upgrade, you get to delete the old stuff like the older windows directory can be deleted and windows 2000 calls it winnt instead of windows,if you know the difference between oses,you can actualy delete alot of stuff and then you would be clean except the registry but using an app called crap cleaner can help you big time.and using xplite can help you too.
